seventeen on this season, first placeatop the NL West after taking three or

(00:20):
four from the Cincinnati Reds. TheDodgers continue their homestand tonight with the start
of a three game series against theArizona Diamondbacks. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound.
First pitch from Dodger Stadium is comingup at seven to ten. Between
then and now, you got alot to get to here on Marongo Casino
Dodgers on Deck, including hearing fromthe Dodger manager. Dave Roberts will dive

(00:41):
deeper into this pitching matchup, whileyour magical moment of the day an injury
report. David Veasse goes one onone with Walker Reviewler. Shortly, we'll
hear from Kirsten Watson. In justa few minutes, we'll check you in
with Rick Monday and Steven Nelson outat the Galvin Motors Broadcast booth. Well
yesterday at the Ravine. It wasa little walk off magic for show Hay.
In order to beat the Reds, the Dodgers sent out Landing Neck to

(01:04):
the mount. He went four andtwo third innings, allowed one run on
three hits while striking out five. The Dodgers game the early lead. At
bottom of the fourth inning, FreddieFreeman on base for Andy Pies. One
out Freeman at first, no score. Pitch win I drilled down the left
field line. It is hooking andthat's gone. That's gone, wrapped around
the left field foul poll A linedrive out of here. A laser beam

(01:29):
the left by Andy Pies for hisfifth major league home run, and the
Dodgers lead it two to nothing. Two run home run for Andy Pajes.
That thing was a laser down theleft field line three hundred and fifty seven
feet. It got out in ahurry, two run shot, and the
Dodgers r ubb two to nothing. In the top half of the fifth inning,
land and Neck would give up arun. It was a two to

(01:52):
one Dodgers lead. Ryan Yarborough tookover for an inning. In two thirds.
He would give up a run towalk in a run in the seventh
inning, we were tied at two. It didn't get anybody across in the
top or bottom half of the ninthinning, so it was free baseball.
At Dodger Stadium yesterday, top halfof the tenth inning. Bonda comes on,
shuts it down, prevents the Redsfrom scoring a run. Dodgers come

(02:15):
back in the bottom half of thetenth Any runners on first and second for
show, Hey Hey, we're lookingto get a good jump on contact.
Won two pits. Oh Tony Swag'sbase hit right field. Here comes Heyward
around third, He'll score Emma.Dodgers win it three to two. The
second career walk off hit for show, Hey Old Tony Emma show rolls on

(02:38):
at Dodgers Stadium. Show Hey Otaniwith the walk off RBI single to right.
Dodgers winning in ten innings yesterday threeto two. Anthony Bonda gets the
win in relief. Show Hey oTani drives in a run. Pajes hits
the two run home run. That'sall the Dodgers would need is they take
three or four from Cincinnati. Afterdropping the series, they win three in

(03:00):
a row. They're now thirty twoand seventeen on this season. They've got
control of first place atop the WesternDivision of the National League, and tonight
they continued the home stand with thefirst of three against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound, firstpitch at seven to ten, and with
more we head out to the gallopinMoters broadcast booth as we say hello to

(03:20):
Rick Monday and Steven Nelson. Guys, thanks Tim. All right, most
of the Dodgers, coming off aseventh series win their last eight series,
going to try and finish up theseven game homestand by getting another one against
the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona backat Dodgers Stadium for the first time since
last year's Division series. Yeah, and trying to right the ship. I

(03:42):
mean, you start to look atwhat happened last year, Arizona won the
first two games here and then thecomplete of the sweep over in Arizona.
But if you start to look atthe bigger picture, and this was then
and right now is now. Butthe Dodgers here in this ballpark against Arizona
have've had pretty good ways of it, winning thirty one of the already eight
regular season games at Dodgers Stadium. But one thing about it, Arizona knows

(04:03):
full well that they have not beenrunning at all cylinders. Tonight could be
the night, and they need todo a very good job in this three
game series to cut in to thatnine game deficit that they're really trailing this
Dodger blanklub right now, who's leadingthe Western Division by seven and a half
in front of the second place SanDiego Andres. If you look at Arizona's

(04:24):
year so far, they have reallystruggled against teams above five hundred. They
don't have a series win against ateam more of five hundred yet. The
starting pitching does have some injuries, but it's been what's buoyed them this recent
stretch. I think nine in thelast twelve starts three or fewer runs of
problem. The offense has been nonexistent. They got a lot of big
name players or young players who areexpected to become big names a La Corbyn,

(04:46):
Carrol, a La Gabriel Moreno AllahLordis Cariel, who are all scuffling
right now. So the Dodgers, whose pitching staff has been rolling, and
to try and continue that trend foreexactly and if you look at Corbyn Carroll.
I mean, here's a guy thattook a baseball really by a big
whirlwin last year. I mean theNational League Rookie of the Year. But
he comes in hitting this one ninetyone the last eleven games, even lower

(05:08):
than that, barely one twenty.Well, he's the guy that once he
gets going and Arizona hoping he getsgoing very very soon, he can really
help set the table. And youlook at the Dodgers. One of the
things that they're able to do.You look at Mookie betts Bett's hitting a
three thirty seven, he sets thetable. Show Hey Otani hitting a three
fifty three, He helped set thetable. Then Freddie Freeman and Will Smith

(05:31):
have a lot of it bats withrunners in scoring position, along with ti
Oscar Hernandez. So if you lookat the first five offensively, this Dodger
buck but they're doing a lot ofdamage. We're beginning now to see six
through nine in the lineup beginning tohold their own and both that's a welcome
sight. You think about the Dodgeroffense on the whole, leading the National

(05:51):
League in batting average, hits, walks, on base, slugging ops,
you name it, and that isdespite having a six through nine that on
the season and has the lowest battingaverage in all the National League, the
second lowest ops in the National League. So all that to say that if
that bottom half gets going, lookoutyou will look out for most preview of

(06:12):
tonight's pitching matchup and play more aswe get closer to first pitch. TC.
All right, thanks a lot,Nelly appreciated Dodger just celebrating a big
win yesterday, taking three or fourfrom the Cincinnati Eras, and that walk
off home run was something special forshow hey Otani, his first walkoff in
any game in four years. Thatwas the top tier play of the game
sponsor by Arco Quality, top tiergas for Less. Dodgers now thirty two

(06:33):
and seventeen on this season. Theyenter tonight with a seven and a half
game lead in the NL West, with a chance to open that up at
least over Arizona, who's in townfor the first of three. So he
count you down to first pitch.Dodger fans, get your game day meal
on at Shakey's Pizza Parlor. Whatare your Shaky's Pizza, chicken and mojos
right now at Shakey's dot com comingup here on Dodgers on Deck. Well

(06:55):
here from the manager Dave roberts Well, check in with David vets A.
DV goes one on one with aWalker Bueler. We'll dive deeper into this
pitching matchup. But I'm next. You're O Twani rewind and we'll visit with
Kirson Watson. So we leads upto Dodgers and Diamondbacks on this Monday night.
First pitch at seven ten. Thanksfor being with us. I'm Tim

This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson. Hey, Kirson now joins us
from the stadium before the series openerwith the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kirsen. You
can kind of feel like you cansee the finish line a little bit with
these thirteen games in thirteen days.Listen, I might be counting down to

(08:56):
the finish line just maybe because look, this has been it's been a long
stretch. Thirteen straight no off days. That's not a usual thing in the
schedule, so for a lot ofthe guys. Dave Roberts was talking about
it today. First and foremost,he's really pleased with how the guys have
handled these last ten with now onemore series against Diamondbacks left. He said

(09:16):
that the biggest thing has been thebullpen and just kind of not only how
they've managed themselves being available, butalso with arms that have come in and
stepped up for kind of once whoare injured are just kind of giving other
guys a day here and there. So he's been really pleased and also his
fine seeing how this team has puttogether wins. How this thirteen straight started

(09:37):
in San Diego and they lost thatseries, but to come back and win
the next two, just for themto kind of get back and kind of
back to their winning ways has beenreally big for them. So he's been
pleased and how everyone's kind of ina good spot. But he did say
that most of those bullpen arms areprobably begging to get to that off day.
Yeah, And speaking of those, some of those arms that are looking

(09:58):
to get back ended up bullpen becausethe Dodgers are doing it with guys they
didn't think they'd be counting on atthis point in this season, but looks
like the Calvary could be joining hereat least soon with Joe Kelly, Evan
Phillips, even a Bobby Miller update. Yeah, so we'll start with Joe
Kelly. So he played catch ona flat ground for the first time today,
So that's a really good sign forhim continuing just to progress. He

(10:18):
of course is going to have togo off the bullpen, so there are
still steps in his progression, butthe fact that he played catch today for
the first time is a good sign. Then you have Evan Phillips, he
has thrown bullpens. He was playingcatch today as well, and Dave Roberts
said that it's very realistic that hecould be back in the next week to
ten days. So I think that'sjust a really good sign as the closer

(10:39):
of this team that he is continuingto feel really well. They're not pushing
him or anything. They're letting himtake his time make sure that a hamstring
fully heals, but he's continuing toshow signs that he's feeling good and working
his way back. Then, andthere's Bobby Miller, as you mentioned,
so focusing out on the rotation. He is going to throw in a game

(11:00):
tomorrow here in LA at Dodger Stadiumand going to do three innings, basing
some of the hitters on the team. And then Dave said that after that
he will go on his rehab assignment. So he's progressing and he doesn't have
as much of a build up assomeone like Walker Wheeler had, but he
is going to have probably a coupleoutings to get him in a good spot
to make his way back. Soyeah, arms are they're coming, They're

(11:22):
getting stronger. The arrow is pointingup for some of these guys coming off
the IL, and that is certainlygreat news, Karsten. We appreciate it.

elbow repaired. Also had an obliqueinjury during spring training, but he is
out for twenty twenty four. Thehead back out to Dodger Stadium and check
out with the Dodgers skipper Dave.Do you think any questions for Dave?
Dave? Can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in

(13:16):
the dugouts with Dave Roberts. Ithink there was I don't recall which start
it was earlier on it was thirdor fourth start or something like that.
I think he just got tired ofbeing mediocre, and I think all athletes
expect a lot of themselves, andfor us to give him the opportunity to

(13:41):
ease his way into the big leagues, that wasn't good enough for him,
and you just saw way more.I just think he got tired of it
and decided that he was better thanhe was pitching and then you saw considered
the better strike throwing. And alsoI think that went hand in hand with

(14:03):
his mechanics that they worked on aswell. Insulted where he gets sort of
tired of that sort of each each, that's each, that's each player.
You know, some players just havethat innate of taking a little bit of
latitude and running with it, andsome guys don't want it, don't need
it, and expect greatness from themselvesfrom the outset, never throwing them on

(14:31):
other dgs and so forth. Isthis from will you have for him the
whole season or just to be inthe season, not planning for the whole
season. I have been mindful onhis usage early on in the season as
he can continue to build a foundation. But tonight, Yeah, if tonight

(14:54):
goes well, uh, and itmakes sense, I could see him,
you know, pushing pas hundred pitchestonight. All right, there's Dave Roberts
talking about Yoshinoba Yamamoto on the starttonight. As we count you down to
first pitch, Dodger fans, thatwas Dave Roberts down the dugout, brought

Yoshanobo Yamamoto, Joe manniply of thepitching matchup. Man apply at opener,
left hander for the Snakes. Firstpitch coming up at seven ten. Joining
Tim Kits on Dodgers on Deck.I accept everybody for who they are.
Is Dodger insider David Bassei. Allright, d ve got a lot talk

(16:03):
about the Big three on this Dodgersoffense. Will Smith is including when there's
the Big four. But he hadbeen a little bit of a funk and
he's gotten out of it. Yeah, he actually brought that to my attention
when he was oh for his lastseventeen on the last road trip and coming
into this homestand it actually reached ohfor twenty one. But since then he

(16:25):
has come out of it six fornineteen with a couple of doubles. But
just looking at his season, he'shad a great year three forty with runners
in scoring position. He's the guyyou wanted to play in those situations.
But if there's one kind of flawto his season so far is the lack
of power. We're talking about aguy back in twenty twenty one that hit

(16:48):
twenty five home runs and ever sincethen the power has gone down, from
twenty five to twenty four to nineteenlast year and this year Will Smith only
has four home runs and tonight willbe the Dodgers' fiftieth game of the season.
He is on pace for, youknow, in the forty doubles range,
but the home runs are starting todwindle in the last few years.

(17:12):
So we'll try to find the answerto that. Tavid has driven by Ford.
Our teams are always built touch justlike your four trucks and SUVs built
for tough LRDV. Michael Grove, here's a guy who was a starter,
kind of a bullpen long reliever. He's really immerged as a weapon now of
the bullpen. Yeah, and itwas starting to show signs that his days

(17:33):
in major league baseball, his futurein baseball was not going to be as
a starter. When he came outof the bullpen last year and he faced
right handed hitting teams and was trustinghis slider, that's really when things clicked
for him and also for the Dodgerscoaching staff in front office that you know

(17:56):
what, this guy might be aweapon coming out of the bullpen. And
Michael Grove's era out of the bullpenin thirteen games since April tenth is under
one zero sixty one. He hastwenty three strikeouts and only four walks.
He's using that slider. He's gota fastball now that sinks, so he's
getting more swing and mess more thanhe's ever had before. And that slider

(18:22):
is a great weapon against left handedhitters. So Michael Grove has emerged with
all these injuries to Brazier and JoeKelly as a high leverage reliever. And
the biggest thing is he has finallyembraced it because even at the beginning of
this season in spring training, hereally wanted to continue being a starter,

(18:44):
but you can make big money andhave a long career doing what he's doing
right now, real quick, Dave. Jock Peterson back at Dodger Stadium.
Yeah, Jocktober back at Dodger Stadium. When he tried to enter the stadium
today, he was wearing a hatin sunglasses and he had a little trouble
getting in, but finally made hisway through. Just want to remind Dodger
fans though, what he has meantto them in the postseason when they went

(19:07):
to the World Series and back toback years in twenty seventeen and twenty eighteen,
Jack Peterson and Hall of Famer GilHodges both have five World Series home
runs for the Dodgers. That saysa lot, no doubt about it.
In October. It is a realthing. DV. Appreciate it. We'll
check back you with you in justa little bit. Don't forget. He's
brought to you by Ford and theirmemorial date. Selathon built Ford Tough coming

(19:33):
up here on Morogo Casino, Dodgerson deck. We'll hear from Walker Bueler.
He's built tough. We'll break downthis pitching matchup. But I'm next

Hawfey Hot Jobs. September thirteenth, twenty twenty two, the Dodgers over at
Chase Field in Phoenix taking on theseDiamondbacks, and the Dodgers clinched the Division
yet again. Here's two to oneline drive caught by the second baseman Taylor.

(20:41):
The Dodgers shutout Arizona and the Dodgerswin their ninth Division title in the
past ten years. For nothing, they beat Arizona. The Dodgers now fifty
five games over five hundred. Thisis a season that simply has been on
a Dodger domination. Dodgers dominated thedivision. Unfortunately couldn't get it done in

(21:06):
October, but they win their ninthdivisional title in ten years back in twenty
twenty two. This Hafey Magical momentbrought to you by Hoffey Hot Dogs,

Rick Monday for leading you up tofirst pitch on this Monday Night Dodgers and

(21:26):
Diamondbacks. I'm Tim Kates's Los AngelesDodgers Audio Network. It is Loronzo Casino,
Dodgers on Dodgers on Deck. Y'allon the official home of LA Dodgers
Baseball. Dodgers and Diamondbacks is theHomestead Continues. Dodgers to three or four
from Cincinnati now start a three gameseries with Arizona Yoshinoba Yamamoto on the mound.

(21:49):
Joe manniply will be the opener ofthe left hander we'll go for Arizona
first pitch at seven to ten.Dodger fans, start your future at a
California community college. Financial aid isavailable to help you tuition books, and
sometimes even the rent. It's timeto take that next big step. Classes
can fill up quickly, So enrolledtoday and I can go to college dot
com and now joined by David Basse, Here's La Dodgers broadcast arre and World

(22:15):
Series champion Dodger Rick Monday. Rick. The Dodgers are running a three game
winning streak into this series against theArizona Diamondbacks, who happened to be the
defending National League champions yep. AndI think they come in and they would
like to have that the banner beingtowed around at the stadium, but that's
not the case. I mean, when it comes down to it, is

(22:36):
that the Arizona Diamondbacks, the defendingNational League champions or nine games behind the
Dodgers, really trying to righte theship. And you know they've had a
lot of guys they just had notbeen hitting. But one thing about it,
we know the competition is going tobe there, and there's some numbers
you need to disregard. I thinkanytime you go into a series. And
yes, it was Arizona sweeping theNational League Division Series last year, and

(23:00):
they won the first two games hereand then closed it out over in Arizona.
But putting aside postseason, the Dodgershave been victorious now in thirty one
of the thirty eight regular season gameshave been played between these two ball clubs
here at Dodgers Stadium. That's thirtyone out of thirty eight. Put that
aside, that was then, thisis now, And for Arizona they were

(23:22):
like nothing better obviously than to gainsome ground of the Dodgers in the Western
Division the National League. All right, Rick, we're starting to get into
the point of the season where pitchersstart facing the same teams, especially in
the Division. Yamamoto now is goingto face the Diamondbacks for the second time
in two weeks. So is thisgoing to be the real test for him
to teams are seeing him now fora second time. It might be.

(23:47):
I think it depends on which sideof the coin that you're going to be
talking about. He went six shutoutinnings against Arizona, you know, just
a couple of series ago. Thatwas on the first of May, and
the Dodgers won that game by eightto nothing score. But the way that
he commanded the strength zone with allof his pitches was really something that the
next outing was also very good.Dave Roberts eluding this afternoon that you know,

(24:10):
the pitch count may be increased withYamamoto tonight, if he still has
that same command of the strength zoneand gets ahead of hitters, it could
possibly go up to one hundred pitches. We'll find out on that end of
it. But I agree with you, you do learn more about hitters and
pitchers by seeing them and face hidthem. We can get all the information
that we do. I mean,I'm holding up about a half inch thick,

(24:34):
you know, reams of paper thatcould give me all kinds of war
asses and therefores who hits the fastball, who does this? Who does that?
But there are some times that youjust do not see the ball out
of a certain pitcher's hand that maybethrows the same thing as the next guy
you're going to see, maybe theguy you saw last night throwing the ballgame,
and maybe you don't hit them forwhatever reason it is. So you

(24:56):
know, it's a learning situation,and I've always that it's easier for pitchers
to find out about hitters and theirweaknesses that maybe it is for a hitter
to find out about the pitchers, because from a hitter it's all individual,
and I think from the picture youcan go more blanket. We'll say,
oh, David Bassey handles the lowfastball much better than he does the breaking

(25:17):
ball that's away, don't handle thefastball upstairs. I think it's easier for
pitchers to look at the breakdown andunderstand about the hitters more so than it
is for hitters to understand about thepitchers. That makes sense, Ricky,
before we back out of here.Yesterday, an exciting finish to the game,
Otani with his first career walkoff hitas a Dodger. What did you
think about that at bat and justwhat he was able to do? The

(25:41):
bat was obviously terrific because it endedwith something that was going on. But
I think overall, if you lookat the Dodgers and what they've been able
to do, David, I meanwinning twenty the last twenty six ball games,
it's not just the hitting. Thepitching for the Dodgers has maybe gone
overlooked, and it shouldn't be alook because in winning twenty the last twenty

(26:02):
six the Dodgers overall had the lowestera collectively in baseball two point one point
one during that span. The pitching, the starting pitching two point five eight.
The bullpend in those last twenty sixgames one point two eight er.
That's really off the charts. Chicksdig the long ball, but pitching wins
championships. Yes, thanks, Rick, this segment was the bridge to the

(26:26):
rest of your life. Oh,thank you, David. Thank for you
to leave. Is it? Ithink so? We'll send it back to

at Dodgers Stadium, and we're joinedright now by Dodger your All Star and
World Series champion Walker Buehler, who'sgot the goatee going and the swag even
more drip than usual, so Iknow you're feeling good. This isn't any

(27:57):
more than usual. These are myto my glove for the year. Come
on, I was telling people inspring training there was a moment in time
where I knew things were going theright way because you were back to yourself.
Yeah, I mean everyone keeps tellingme that, like, the more
I run my mouth, the better, and so I don't know, I
probably manufactured it for a while, but no, I feel good. Was

(28:18):
there a moment in time in springtraining that you felt like, Okay,
now I'm starting to feel like I'mbeyond being a rehab patient. Yeah.
I mean I had a couple ofgood libyps and and that was kind of
a step forward at that time. But you know, I think this rehab
thing, especially the second one, kind of isn't as linear as maybe I
wanted it to be. And obviouslymy first two starts here didn't go how

(28:41):
I would want and so you kindof reasss and and learn like that that's
part of it. And now obviouslywe're kind of a little bit back on
the train. But you know,at the same time, you got to
think the same things and go andand work the same way and do all
those good things. I've heard playerssay this in the past with less serious
injuries than yours, that the physicalpart is part of it, but mentally

(29:06):
trusting your body to be able todo things is the biggest hurdle. Did
you experience that as well? Yeah. I mean, I think it's hard
to know what a ball is goingto do or where it's going to go
when you don't know how your arm'sgoing to feel in the way they're right.
I think that's the biggest thing, and kind of getting out of that
rehab mindset. You know, everybodysays the rehab mindset. I think largely
like when you're really good, likewhen I've been good in this game,

(29:30):
it's like there's no physical concern andso, you know, you're concerned solely
about yourself physically for two years, and so it's a little bit of a
transition, and you know, nowI can kind of get back to competing
and trying to, you know,do what I want with the ball instead
of worrying about what the ball isgoing to do to my elbow. Walker.
I was one of the few thatwas watching your podcast here in LA

(29:52):
on a regular basis because you werereally candid with everything that you were going
through. Did you feel like thatwas kind of like a journal in some
ways in a in a twenty twentyfour space, because you were you were
really spilling your emotions and how youwere feeling and where things were going.
Well, yeah, I think, you know, it was important to me.

(30:14):
You know, I think whether thiswent good about or ugly, like,
to be able to talk through it'skind of cool. I think also
we can blame the people of BuffaloTrace for sending me stuff. I don't
think I normally would say everything Isay on there, But that's kind of
the fun of it, right andgetting to actually talk through you know,
where you're at, and you know, I think we'll do another one of
those here soon and kind of talkthrough the the good, good parts of

(30:37):
this thing. You said on thatpodcast Just Baseball that May was kind of
the month that you were circling andyou guys were working backwards, so I
guess it was on schedule in someways. Yeah, I mean we actually
probably well, my first May sixth, I think we probably beat it by
you know, eight days or so, so we were pretty pretty close.
We had always said May and thenkind of see through the season how we're

(31:02):
holding up and if I need abreather or blow or whatever, and you
know, I think that's probably stillan option at some point. Obviously I
feel really good right now, butyeah, it's always good to kind of
tick off, you know, beata goal. I guess in some way.
But you know, my goal wasto get back last year. I
didn't do that, so I'm gladthis one worked out a little bit better.

(31:22):
Is it fair to repeat that laststart? The start before your next
start is a bridge to the restof your season. You're building off each
one. Yeah, I mean,I think every every start is you know,
every season that I've played, it'strying to build on something, or
build on the last one, orget back to one before or whatever.
I think, you know, themindset of the mentality for me is a

(31:45):
little bit different than it used tobe, and I think it has to
be. And you know I kindof came together in my last start,
and you know, we need tokeep putting it together. The one thing
that I love about your mentality thathasn't changed. You don't just want to
be out there. You want tobe the best. And it feels like
the more you get that itch, the more you want more. Yeah.

(32:05):
I mean, you know, atthe end of the day, I think
I got really lucky to be inthis organization. You know, drafted here
and come up here, and youknow we've always been good in the regular
season. Like there's you know, you put together a nice start in the
regular season, that's kind of that'sawesome, and that's what everybody wants.
But you know, we're building towardsbeing really good in October. And I
think that's a perspective that I kindof was brought up with here. And

(32:30):
you know, something I don't thinkis going to change. I've never asked
you this before, but do youpitch with a chip on your shoulder?
People always seem to short change whetherit was in college you were better than
where they slotted you, you werebetter than where you were drafted because of
the elbows surgery. Do you pitchwith that chip on your shoulder? Yeah?

(32:51):
I think so. I mean Ithink you're kind of always teetering with
you know, if you're having anysort of success, I think you're teetering
behind or between like that chip andthen you know, being too confident,
and you know, when you gethurt, I think that's probably the most
humbling thing that can happen to anathlete. You know, if you if
you perform badly, like you getto do it again the next week or
the next day or whatever. Butgetting hurt it's really you know, for

(33:14):
me, it's been what twenty twomonths of kind of trying to figure out
how to be good at this gameagain and you know, provide for your
family and all of that, andso yeah, I mean, I think
there's some sort of chip. Ithink for that to actually do anything,
you have to like physically be rightand mentally be ready to compete. And
I think this last start was kindof all of that coming together. Before

(33:37):
I let you go, you musthave been feeling little buffalo trace ish when
you gave Austin Barnes credit for whyyou moved on the mound. I thought
that was really revealing. He's beentelling me this for a couple of years
and I don't I don't like doingit, but Burnsy has his moments and
it really made a difference, right, I think. So, I mean,

(33:59):
you know, it's kind of anabstract thing, but the orientation of
our body and the way my eyessee the plate and stuff like that can
kind of dictate some things happen physically. And you know, Barnes has always
talked about how he wants certain thingsto come out in certain you know,
lanes and things like that, andI had to be really perfect for it
to come out like that, whereI used to be and so hopefully you

(34:22):
know, this kind of change worksfor the long term, but even just
for the one I have to givehim a little little hot tip. Walker,
it's great having you back. I'ma little nostalgic. You mean a
lot to me. The guys thathave been here since you were a rookie
mean a lot to me, nomatter what uniform they're wearing. So it
feels like the world is a littlebit more normal with you pitching again.

(34:45):
I appreciate it. Man. We'lltalk to you guys here later on there
he is the man, but taneWalker Buehler, we'll send it back to
you in the studio. Tim,all right, thanks lot. Great to

See you're a Toyota dealer today theymake it easy. Joe Mann apply
on the mound for the Arizona Diamonbacks. He is a reliever, bullpen expert
so to speak, not a starter, but tonight he is the opener for
Arizona as they go with the lefthander. Veteran thirty three years old,
a twenty seventh round pick of theTigers back in twenty thirteen out of Virginia
Tech, made his debut in twentysixteen with Detroit. Pitched for the Yankees

(36:15):
and then joined the d Backs intwenty twenty with an All Star in twenty
twenty two with the Snakes, makinghis twenty second appearance this year, again
his first as a starter an openerthis season. Last pitched on Saturday,
did not record it out and giveup a couple of runs. It was
a rough outing for Joe manniply. This is his twenty fourth appearance against the
Dodgers. He's zero to two witha four to ninety five ERA sixteen and

(36:37):
a third innings niner and runs givenup and sixteen strikeouts. Yoschanovo Yamamoto on
the mound for the Dodgers, twentyfive year old right hander, first season
with the Blue making his tenth startthis season, his last time out in
San Francisco, five and two thirdinnings, four runs, five hits,
six strikeouts in a no decision.Believe it or not, this is already
his second time now facing the ERAon the Diamonbacks. David Vassa alluded to

(37:00):
it earlier. Now we're starting tosee teams see him for a second time.
He went six scoreless innings and hestruck out five in his previous start
against them. That was three weeksago in Arizona in which he got the
win. Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Every timehe gets to start. It's power by

(38:14):
head back out to the booth StephenNelson, Rick Monday, guys, thank
you Tim okay Mo. Before weget into Yoshinobu Yamamoto against the opener Joe
Mantaply for Arizona, let's talk aboutthe weekend that was in Show hey Otani
Sho hey Otani Day officially now inLos Angeles County, May seventeenth, turned
into Show hey O Tani Weekend. He didn't have many hits in the series,

(38:35):
but he made him count his thirteenthhome run on Show Heo Tani Day,
and then of course capping off theweekend with his first walk off as
a Dodger. You really, Ithink, really, it doesn't surprise me,
but impresses me and will take forgranted the exceptional ability that he has.
What I really embrace is how histeammates and the city have embraced him.

(39:00):
Here's a star value, and yetit is not detracted from what this
team as a whole is able todo. And I'm not certain that that
works in every ball club where youget someone that comes in so dynamic,
they get so much attention front rowand center, and yet he blends in
very well with his ball club,And I think that's a big, big

(39:20):
credit to show hey Otani who understandsthe team concept. And you don't get
a whole lot of superstars that maybeembrace that. Well, you talk about
superstar all at a word that isn'tnecessarily often tied to superstar, and that's
humility. I mean, shohe Otani. Maybe too much humility, you would
think, but that is the wayhe's wired and that is what endears him

(39:40):
to his teammates, his coaches, and fan bases as a whole. So
it was great to see over theweekend. And now the Dodgers try and
continue this strong stretch of play duringwhich they've won twenty of twenty six games
MO with Yoshinobu Yamamoto starting against it. Yeah, a couple of things are
going to be looking at very closely. First standing in particular because it's the
three twenty four average whatever it is, he has, at least to this

(40:02):
point, has had a little difficultysettling in. Once he does, it's
been lights out. And he's aguy if you go to home played as
a hitter, if you're looking forone pitch, you're in trouble because he
commands five of them. Very well. Dodgers starters MiB best two point one
point one team era going back toApril twenty First, I mean, if
we talk about the starting pitching, the bullpen's been even better than that,

(40:23):
Tim Kates. So hopefully both thosethings continue throughout this series. For the
Dodgers against Arizona. We'll talk toyou when first pitch comes around. Yeah.
I need the bullpen to keep itgoing, get the starting pitching going
as well, and some timely offense, and the Dodgers can win their fourth
in a row. Tonight's against Arizona, the start of a three game series.
Yoshanoba Yabamodo on the mound for theDodgers. First betcho we come back.
