winning going last night against the ArizonaDiamondbacks. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound six
of them third innings, two runs, seven hits, struck out eighthy threw
one hundred pitches. The Dodgers fellinto the early hole top of the third
inning, Jock Peterson with an RBIsingle as the Snakes took a one to
nine in lead. But the Dodgersgot it back, and they got it

(01:29):
back in a bunch in the bottomof the third, getting it started.
Key ky Hernandez, you know, three and one. Key k trying to
lead this inning off the right way, hits it hard center field. Carol
pushed back. He will look upand watch it fie. Keith k Hernandez
with a laser to straight away centerfield, leads off the third inning with
his third hole run of the season, and it ties the game at one.

(01:53):
Key k Hernandez ties the game withthat solo home run and the Dodgers
are just getting started. Miguel Rojashas single to right. Mookie Bess as
their order turned over a single towrite first and second nobody out show Hey
o'tani then drew a walk to loadthe bas is. Still nobody out for
Freddy Freeman. Two balls, onestrike, so Cony to Freeman high in

(02:15):
the air center field, hit deepCarrel's at the wall. It is gone,
Hey Graham swing for Freddy Freeman.Home run number five four. Ribbis
added to his total four hundred andfifteen feet to center field for Freddy Freeman.

(02:37):
With the grand slam Dodgers of fiveto one, and they still weren't
done. The very next batter ofWill Smith solo home run to the Love
Center that gave the Dodgers a sixto one lee that is the top tier
of the clear to Play the Gamesponsored by Arco Quality top tier gas for
less. The Dodgers exploded in thebottom half of the third inning six runs,

(02:59):
five hits, three of those homeruns incruiting the Grand Slam from Freddie
Freeman. As the Dodgers were upbig six to one, and last night,
Yamamoto would go the six in athirty eightings. He gave up the
two runs. The Dodgers would giveup two more on their way to a
six to four win. Yamamoto nowfive and one on this season. Daniel

(03:20):
Hudson picks up his third save ofthis season as the Dodgers whin they're fourth
in a row. They're now thirtythree and seventeen on this season. What
a start for the Dodgers, whohave an eight and a half game lead
over the San Diego Padres, ninegames up on the Giants, ten games
up on Arizona, and the ColoradoRockies are sixteen games back in the NL

(03:42):
West. As we sit here onMay twenty first, and the Dodgers looked
to keep the winning going to nightwith Gavin Stone on the mound. First
pitch is seven to ten and withmore we head out to Dodgers Dandium in
the Gallpin Motors Broadcast booth as wesay hello to Rick Monday and Steven Nelson.
Guys, thanks Tim All right backat it, beautiful Tuesday afternoon,
so far set in the stage forGame two of this series. The Dodgers

(04:04):
are trying to make it five ina row in eight series in nine if
my math is correct, and afterlast night, who knows, but we
roll on. What are you lookingforward to tonight? As the Dodgers face
Brandan fought for the first time sinceGame three of the Division Series. We
talked about it last night and we'vebeen talking about it really for a couple
of weeks. Is that if youleave this Dodger lineup has been the top

(04:27):
part of the lineup has been doingmost of the pulling of the wagon,
and we're now beginning to see somebetter swings from the six, seven,
eight, and nine spot. That'sexactly what we saw in last night's ball
game as well, and tonight alwayslooking forward to you know, Gavin Stone
on the mound. They're gonna figurethings out. And for this Dodger ball
club, I mean, the otherpart that we've really enjoyed and it makes

(04:49):
the postgame show so much better forus to be able to do. But
Dodgers have won twenty one in thelast twenty seven games, and so far
in the month of May they've wonfourteen and lost only four. And when
you're winning like that, I gottatell you what, the sun shines brighter,
the food tastes better, and thebaseball is a lot more enjoyable.

(05:09):
We can confirm that. So theDodgers fifty games into the season now well
thirty three and seventeen. Only thetwenty twenty club and the two thousand and
nine Dodgers have had better fifty gamesstarts in the wild Card era for the
Dodgers. So it has been afun season so far. If we are
to split hairs with this team, because I think that's what we all tend

(05:30):
to do, fans and media likeon a day to day basis with a
team that has I expectation is splithairs. They have scored in just three
of their last eighteen offensive innings. Is that something that bothers you or is
that more natural during the course ofa season that most than some might think.
No, it doesn't bother me atall, because many of the people
on the outside looking in. Thequestion is if it should be when,

(05:55):
and by that i'm talking about whenguys go into a little bit of a
slump. It's not if they're goingto so it's win. You just hope
that everyone doesn't go into that slump. At the same time, the offense
is there, and again we're beginningto see something from the bottom part of
the order. And it's not onlyfrom a pitching standpoint, from the starters,

(06:15):
but it's also the bullpen, becauseif you look at the bullpen the
last twenty seven games, their collectivevra is under one and a half runs
and every nine innings that they havework. This is a ball club,
I think, if we're looking atit, if they remain healthy or get
guys that are injured, get themhealthy and get back in there. This
is a team, if we're beinghonest, could play even better baseball.

(06:39):
It's going to be more difficult becauseI think if you look at the schedule,
they're going to be playing teams thatquite frankly, are doing better in
the standings than some of the teamsthat they played recently. Got to get
fat? Why you can you know? Well? They getting's good. I
suppose the Dodgers will try and makeit twenty two out of twenty eight.
Tonight. Tim Kates will come backin preview the starting pitching matchup and talk

(07:00):
about the terrific Gavin Stone when wecome back. All right, thanks a

this Tuesday night before the Dodgers andDiamondbacks. Big news earlier today for the
Dodgers Kearston as they continue to gethealthy, especially with these arms that are
starting to slowly come back. BobbyMiller, He's progressing, Yeah, he

(09:15):
is. He threw a sim gametoday through three innings. Dave Roberts said
he got up toot fifty one pitches, and so for him, he talks
about how, look, this ishis first SIM game, so as much
as he was looking to see reallypositive things, he said, the command
was there a little bit, butit was kind of blacking of sunspots.
But that's something that's very realistic withyour first SIM game. So he said
that everything is still on a goodplan for him. His next outing will

(09:39):
actually be on Sunday with Rancho andthen he is going to have likely three
rehab starts before he makes his wayback. But today was a really good
step, but just a really goodsign that he's continuing to feel better.
No inflammation anymore, all of thatis in the past now, so he's
moving forward and feeling good. Whatis his mean though, with his return

(10:01):
getting closer for this rotation, Yeah, that's you know, that's a really
big question right now. That cameup today and there's some thought of,
you know, do you go toa six man rotation. We've been seeing
for the most part, everyone,if not on regular rest, has gotten
an extra day, and some ofthat has been due to just off days
or a bullpen game, or whetherit's been a spot start. Someone like

(10:22):
Landon Nack we saw it come upor Elie ser Hernandez things like that.
So we've seen different situations. Andso with Bobby returning, considering how well
the rotation has been playing as oflate, you know, there's some thought
like maybe it makes sense just togo to a six man rotation, but
Dave said, while it is somethingthat is still on the table, they
are considering it, it does, you know, come with a few things

(10:46):
that you have to also consider. And that's one less arm in the bullpen.
What does that mean? You know, you have to have that conversation
and take into consideration just how therotator, all the arms in the rotation
are they comfortable with, you know, sticking to a true six man rotation
type thing. So a lot ofit's definitely in the air. We'll see
what they decide on. But asof right now, since I'm as I

(11:07):
told you, there's still Bobby's gonnaneed three more outings, So there's still
a couple more weeks before they haveto make this decision. So as I
like to say, they will crossthat bridge when they get there. Max
Munsey, what's the latest on hisoblique and how's he progressing. Yeah,
he's doing well. He was actuallydoing some stuff today, playing some defense,
doing some stretches with the training staff. He's said he's feeling better,

(11:31):
he looks good out there. He'sgonna start hitting in the cage here soon.
And then Dave said that he willgo out on his rehab assignment.
So the hope is that in thenext week or so he should be returning.
He's only gonna need like one ortwo rehab outings, and so they'll
kind of go from there, buthe should be returning relatively soon. That
is certainly good news for the Dodgers, and they continue to get healthy and

(11:52):
they continue to keep winning. Curssoon. We appreciate it. We'll check

All right, let's head back outto Dodger Stadium and check in with the
Dodger Skipper. Questions for Dave Dave? Can you just describe Dave? Can
you talk about the pressure in thedugouts with Dave Robbers, Dave Versmith,

(13:46):
Bobby sip Gang, What are youseeing from him? And is he's still
on the I guess same timeline ofnext to meet his rehab assignment. We
we got through three innings. Ithink he threw fifty one pitches and I
think that what you would expect thefirst time out. The command of his
pitches isn't going to be there, but I think the exercise of getting him
up and down three times was accomplishedand the next step is for him to

(14:13):
start his rehab assignment. For thatRancho team on Sunday next Monsie was also
out there just doing some stuff onthe fields and stretches and things like that.
How is he continuing to progress justwith He looks good. He's done
some plio stuff. He took somegrounders today through. I think he's going
to hit probably tomorrow or Thursday inthe cage and it will be one or

(14:39):
two game rehab. I don't knowwhen that's going to start, and hopefully
we'll get him back sometime next week. With Bobby got a little time to
think about this, But where doeshe fit back into the rotation? That's
pretty cold, it is. Itis, and that's a good thing,
certainly, with the way guys arethought the baseball and as it stands now,

(15:01):
the health. But we've got threestarts, so we've got some time
to kind of see, you know, Let's let Bobby get through a Sunday
and then we'll kind of see fromthere. All right, there's Dave Roberts
down the dugout, brought to youby his service Titan. So Bobby Miller
three minor league rehabit starts, andthen the Dodgers got a decision to make
as far as what to do withthis rotation. Dave Roberts is a Titan

in his own right, and he'sgot a plan before his team hits the
field. You need one for yourgrowing contracting business too, Service Titan let

(16:07):
from Clayton Kershaw in about twenty minutes. We'll dive deeper to this pitching matchup.
We'll get your magical moment coming upin a few minutes as well.
But first, joining Tim Kats onDodgers on Deck, I accept everybody for
who they are. This is Dodgerinsider David Bassi. All right, dv
the Dodgers have won four in arow. They get to win last night
six to four. Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitchesdeep yet again. Another quality starts.

(16:33):
Yeah, and it wasn't looking thatway early in the game yesterday because in
the third inning, tim he wasat the fifty pitch mark and the Diamondbacks
were threatening. That's where Christian Walkerhit a sinking line drive to Jason Hayward
and he was able to make thecatch. And from that point on it
was a different Yamamoto. He steppedup to the challenge of being better the

(16:56):
final three and a half innings. He finished with one hundred pitches into the
set thinning, and I thought themost impressive part of his outing last night
was a sequence in the sixth inningwhere he struck out Jock Peterson on three
ninety six mile an hour fastballs. That showed the competitive fire inside of him,
considering Peterson got him earlier in thegame for the first run. Keik

(17:19):
Hernandez started at third base last nightlike he is tonight, and he had
the best view of Yamamoto. Youknow, he's still great. Uh.
You know, he had one tolfending where they put up some really good
at bats together, and you know, they scored some runs, and you
know, overall he did a greatjob. He gave up that one run
early and then we uh, youknow, he kept them there. We

(17:41):
put a sixth spot and he didwhat he had to do to you know,
kind of like Chrisntrol throughout the game, and Matt helped his manage the
bullpend a little better second time inthe last three starts. Tim that Yamamoto
has pitched into the seventh inning,so he's starting to figure things out.

and get another start tonight in leftfield. Yeah, and I talked to
him earlier today. He is heparticipated in the live batting practice against Bobby

(18:25):
Miller, and while he was there, I mean he seemed relaxed him And
basically he has the mindset of saying, you know what, I've tried it
a lot of other people's ways.I'm going to do it my way this
time. And he had a reallygood betting practice session earlier today. A
lot of times that doesn't translate, but certainly it has been an indication of

(18:45):
players being on point that day,and he was very locked in and determined
to make the most of tonight's opportunity. David Dave Roberts said, well,
they got three starts to worry aboutBobby Miller when he comes back, what
they're going to do with the rotation. But really, what are the Dodgers
going to do when Bobby Miller comesback, right, He's supposed to make
three or four more rehabs starts startingon Sunday, And you know, I've

(19:08):
asked a few people with the Dodgersfront office and they said, when we
get there, we'll assess who ishealthy and who is not healthy. We're
talking about a pitcher and Walker Buellerthat's coming off as second Tommy John surgery.
So the approach they are taking is, we find it hard to believe
that everybody is going to be healthyat the same time or won't need a

(19:33):
break in the season. So we'llsee how it goes. But right now
the Dodgers are not getting too farahead of themselves with that. I guess
first class problem, have no doubtabout it. DV appreciate it. We'll

the Dodgers winning four in a row, and they got Gavin Stone on the
mound. He may not have beenone of the most talked about young pitchers,
but he's certainly's making a name forhimself now. Yeah, and I

(22:37):
think you start to look as nightstart he's making here tonight. Four and
one is the record. You know, what are the things that he's really
been able to do. I thinkI found some numbers today. The last
couple of starts that he's had,he's given up just an forty eight batting
average when he gets two strikes, and I bring that up because Dave Robertson
talking to media today was talking aboutcommand of the fastball, in particular with

(23:02):
Gavin Stone. So if he getsthat fastball gets ahead in the counts.
I mean, this unbelievable numbers. The last two starts again with two strikes
as a forty eight banning average againstHe's got good stuff. And you know
what was really enjoyable last night obviouslythe victory, no question about it,
and the performance of yeah, ShinobuImamoto who picked up the win, going
six and a third, and yougo into the summit inenning the bullpen goes,

(23:23):
hey, we really like that. But I think from top to bottom
the lineup of putting some offense inthere as well. Kick k Hernandez with
a home run, obviously, thebig blast was with Freddie Freeman with a
grand Slam, and then the verynext batter, Will Smith, I don't
know two count hit a home runon top of it. So we're beginning

(23:44):
now to see because we talked fora long time about one through four in
the batting order really kind of pullingmost of the wagon occasionally one through five,
but now we're beginning to see itfiltering down a little bit more to
give support because the guys up atthe top are not going to stay hot
all year long, and Jason Hayward'sa big part of that equation to help
the bottom third of the order.Yeah, from both sides of the ball,

(24:07):
from an offensive standpoint and from adefensive standpoint. We saw a catch
again last night as he comes in. I think that you look at Hayward
and right field, I think hemakes now. He's a left handed thrower,
which means he has the globe inthe right hand, but he makes
that backhand dive catch. Yeah,I think as well as anyone in baseball
right now. Miguel Vargas gets thestarting left field tonight, rick only the

(24:30):
second start since he got called backup with the month see injury. He
feels like this is now or never, and he's got to be himself to
make an impression. Yeah, andI hope he's thinking only now, and
you kind of fight to let thatfilter in never. You can't have that
as a player. So it's gotto be now, and he's worked hard

(24:51):
to be there. I'm gonna bewatching closely on what he does with the
reading the ball off the bat whenhe moved out to left field last year.
He had some difficulty in getting tothe baseball off the bat, in
other words, of breaking back onthe ball that was hit in front of
him, maybe not getting a goodjump going to his left and to his
right. I thought he went tohis left last year better than he went
to his right. And we'll seewhat it is now, all right,

(25:14):
Rick. Earlier today we were talkingabout some of the young arms for the
Dodgers. Bobby Miller back out theretoday throwing the hitters, and he's going
out on a rehab assignment on Sunday. Yep, what did you see today?
Well, we saw it, weheard I told you so. We
heard a few things because he wasirritated himself with the command of a couple
of pitches, bounced a few breakingballs in front of the plate, airmailed

(25:37):
a few fastballs on top of it. Overall, I think it's a work
in progress, and I think thathe has to be able to face live
hitters in game situations instead of justhaving as he had today on the field
pitching from the mound. Yes,he had different hitters in there, both
right handed and left handed, butthere's no real pressure from a standpoint is
that, oh, there's a scoreboard, there's runners, there's this, there's

(26:00):
that that's going on. I thoughtit was a good stepping stone. It
could have been better, more consistentwith the quote unquote command as we hear
that word of luck talking about pictures. But it was again, it was
a big step for Bobby Miller. We also heard him vocalize his displeasure a
couple of times all the way upin the press box, which I think
is really a good thing because hewas into it. It wasn't like,
Hey, I'm just going to goout there and throw. No, he

(26:22):
was into it and committed. Ithink the next down would be even better.
I was wondering for the hitters thatwere facing him, what does it
do for them, if anything, because they were Chris Taylor. Again,
I'm glad you asked that because thefirst who's the first name you mentioned,
Chris Taylor. I will say this, Chris Taylor hit a home run at
the left field off of Bobby Miller, and I looked at the location of

(26:42):
the pitch. It was not reallya bad location. It was a better
swing. So there was two thingsthat came out of a positive that I
saw. One to Bobby Miller, and he gets into it and he's going
to make a couple of rehab starts, as you were alluding to. But
the other part is Chris Taylor tome, had much better or swings today.
Off a guy that throws. Imean he's in the upper nineties.

(27:03):
Uh, didn't see him hitting breakingballs. Don't know how many got for
strikes, but I did see theone home run that he yet. All
right, Rick, thanks a lot. Clayton Kershaw forty pitch bullpen today.
He's going to join us in alittle bit here on the pregame show.
Okay, good do you ever standin against him? Is he warming up?
Offered? And Uh, I thinkthey want it too badly. They
don't want to They don't want tosubject me to that. Well, if

(27:26):
you do, make sure you werecatcher's gear, a helmet and everything else.

(28:57):
time in a month, the sleevesare gone, the guns are out for
Clayton Kershaw, great to see youtoday, and I know today was a
good day for you. Yeah becauseI get to wear a sleeveless shirt or
no, yeah, through another pintoday and it's it's still getting better.
Yeah, so it's great. StillI'm kind of trending upward and through forty

(29:18):
pitches today and yeah, so it'sgoing good. It's going great. I'm
always curious to know the patience meter. Where is it for you? Well,
you know, this is a newterritory for me, so you typically
I just push it until I'm stupid. But now, like you know,
with surgery, there's kind of like, hey, you gotta you can't push
surgery, you know. So Ithink that's I think it's teaching me some

(29:41):
things about how to how to workand how to figure out what's good pain,
what's bad pain, what's like youneed to slow down or hey,
you need to work through it,and just all kind of new territory for
me really, But you know,I would say overall, the process has
been great. Everybody here back onall. Everybody's helping me out a lot,
and I'm getting closer it really.I know last year it was a

(30:03):
grind for you to just do whatyou're doing now, throw every day in
between starts. Is it refreshing toknow that you don't have that pain anymore
to go out there? Well,I think you just take it for granted,
you know. I think, youknow, health is something that you
don't care about until you don't havegood health, you know, And that's
the true in life as well.So for me to be able to,

(30:25):
you know, throw a baseball andhave it feel great, it's a huge
blessing. I love it. Ilove throwing a baseball. It's a lot
of fun and especially when it doesn'thurt. Yeah. So what are you
doing in between the Dodgers being athome and you being in Texas? Yeah?
So, you know, rehaving Texasis good, you know, obviously
it gives me some more family time. But thankfully school is winding down and
we'll get to be out here fulltime here and next week or so,

(30:45):
which is awesome. But it's beengood. You know, obviously not playing
is no fun, but being ableto be home and have the kids stay
in school, and you know,Cali's in third grade now, so school
kind of like is important to herand she wants to be around and I
think they're actually learning stuff. Soit's been it's been a blessing to be
able to be home with them fora while. At this stage of your

(31:06):
career, What is the motivation?I mean, because I know you care
so much about being the best dadyou possibly can, and it hurts when
you're not with them, But whatis the motivation to keep going with the
Dodgers and pitching? Well, Imean to win obviously, that's that's the
motivation on the field, is youknow, we're we have a special group
of guys and a special team andhave the opportunity to win. And so

(31:27):
I think that that's the motivation onthe field, and then off the field,
like my kids are just now gettingold enough to like kind of think
this is cool, you know, and so for Calli and Charlie to kind
of be around. Even Cooper who'sfour now, like I took him to
the field for the first time thisyear. So some of that stuff dad
life like, you know, lettingthem know that their dad did have a

(31:48):
job at one point and like ableto like show them kind of this stuff
is important and like I want themto know, you know, what La
has meant to our family. Andso yeah, I mean there's a motivation
there too. That's amazing. Yeah, your kids are very young. If
you would have called it quits, they never would have known what dad did.
That's true. I just just wouldhave been the dad that just creeped
around all the time. Clayton Kershawis our guest. Now I don't see

(32:12):
a father, a husband, apitcher, But now he grows beef and
he'll send you beef boxes. Kershawbeef is alive and well in Texas.
Where did this come from? Yeah? Grow beef? Is that what you
do? Or raise raise cattle?Yeah? Yeah, there you go.
No, you know, my mywife's family has had a place in East
Texas for a long time and wefound some we bought some land next to

(32:37):
him last year and you know, one of long story, but anyway,
one of one of when somebody inour family said, hey, I think
I think we could do the beefbusiness. And so we started trying it
and send a few preliminary boxes overChristmas and the results were great, and
I think the beef tastes really goodand it's kind of a fun thing to
be able to do, so we'regiving it a shot. It's fun and

(32:59):
so far there is of this, like first round of boxes has been great,
So who knows where it's gonna go, but it's it's something fun to
do and I enjoy it. Howmuch time do you spend on the farm,
for a lack of better term, well, not a lot right now,
but you know it could be,you know, in the future.
You know, it's always nice toget out of the city. And I'm
a city you know, Dow,I'm from a big city, so I
don't I don't have a lot offarm experience or anything like that. But

(33:22):
to be able to get out ofthe city every once in a while,
I think it's good for me,good for the kids. And once again,
I don't really know what I'm doing, but it's kind of fun to
be a part of it. Kurshowbeefdot com is where you can get your
box kurshot. Throwing up baseball isright on the cover of it. But
no curveballs is what they say.Yeah, a good slogan. All you
like that one. It feels likeyou came up with that one. I

(33:43):
didn't actually tell me all right beforeI let you go. When you do
come back, you're coming back toa really great team. What have you
seen so far? Well, Ithink I think the big not a surprise,
but I think the biggest thing forus right now is the depth of
our starters, like how many inningsthey're eating, and you know, even
the guys that are coming up,whether it be Landon Knack or you know,
Elia's art, like Yamamoto is goingdeep glasses, going deep into games.

(34:07):
Paxton's been really really good as well. And so I think when you
have that, and then I meanGavin Stone what he's doing the last month,
and we'll see him tonight. ButI don't know if anybody expected that,
Like the innings eating, which isreally important over the course of a
long season. It saves your bullpen, it resets it. And you know,
obviously our stars are doing what they'resupposed to do, and it's been

(34:28):
pretty incredible to watch, you know, the top four or five in our
lineup, but to see our startersdo what they're doing, it just sets
everything up for the bullpen to havesuccess, and a huge shout out to
Huddy too. Daniel Hudson and whathe's doing, and obviously with Evan being
out like just such a cool story, as many obstacles as he had to
overcome, just couldn't be happier forhim. He's just the best, and

(34:49):
so all to say, it's beena lot of fun to watch and I'm
excited to be a part of it. Three out of four for Daniel Hudson
Kershaw. He hasn't done that beforerecently. No, it's it really is
amazing to watch and we've needed it. I mean, we've needed every bit
of it, so I'm just superhappy for him. All right, can't
wait for you to come back.I love seeing you out there, even
if it's in the bullpen session settingsright now, but it doesn't definitely gives

(35:13):
hope that you'll be back out theresoon. Yeah, it's almost time to
stop practicing, stop playing. Getready, Kershop Beef is going to the

fought on the mound, twenty fiveyear old right hand or fifth round pick
back in twenty twenty in the secondseason. Now in the Big leagues,
for the Snakes, making his tenthstart this year. He's one in three
with a four to seventeen er RAY. He's gone at least five innings and
ten consecutive starts dating back to lastseason. Last time out, he took
a no hitter into the fifth inningagainst the Reds. Finished with seven innings

(36:43):
of work, one run on twohits, two walks in nine strikeouts.
He retired thirteen of the first fourteenbatters that he faced. This is his
third career start against the Dodgers. He's zero to two with a nine to
thirty five RRA. Gavin Stone onthe mound for the Dodgers four and one
three twenty seven ERRA twenty five, your old right hender. He too,
was a fifth round pick in twentytwenty out of Central Arkansas for the Dodgers.

(37:05):
Making his ninth start this season lasttime out, six innings, one
run, five hits, two strikeoutsin a winner with the Giants up in
San Francisco. He's got four straightstarts, does Gavin stone O six innings
of more. He's won now twostraight decisions three of his last four.
This will be the first time everfacing the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gavin Stone Brandon

lacare dot org. Before first pitch, let's head back out to the booth,
Rick and Steven guys, all right, TC, getting closer and closer
and closer to first pitch at DodgerStadium, and that first pitch will be
thrown Rick Monday by Gavin Stone, who was really starting to find himself at
the major league level. Boy heis. And I start to look back

(38:36):
at the last five times that hehas been out there, He's gone at
least six innings in each of thosegames. So you know, Dave Robertson
was talking earlier about Gavin Stone isa look fastball command needs to get that
over a little bit more consistently. And he has a terrific changeup. So
you combined getting strikes and then usingthe change up the off speed with two

(38:59):
strikes, very high percentage of strikeoutsagainst hitters. And speaking of hitters,
Dodgers have to figure out for Brandonfodt On what they're going to be doing
if I'm a hitter, There's onenumber I really want to look at,
and that's the percentage of first pitchstrikes that Fought has thrown, because it's
the leading percentage of starting pitchers inthe National League. He's thrown first pitch

(39:19):
strike seventy four percent of the time. My point being, I'm going to
home plate and I'm hunting a fastballfirst pitch. That just reminds me of
one of the dodgers more aggressive firstpitch hitters in Freddie Freeman, and you
look at Freddy's career line against BrandonFott. He's got four hits in Adab's
three of them for extra bases,a couple of doubles and home runs.
So that is something for everybody tomonitor when the first inning roll is around.

(39:43):
Getting back to Gavin Stone on onemore point, mo, you know
his last four starts especially, heis giving up what one or fewer runs
in four straight and he's done agood job of his pitch mix. He's
got six offerings and we know thechangeup is coming a lot, but we're
seeing this slider more and more.Yeah, he's gone to that slider.
Here's the other part too, veryquickly. Of the twenty nine s Frankounts,

(40:05):
thirteen of those have come on changeups. He's got one of the best
in the business and we look forwardto seeing it again. Hopefully Gavin Stone
stays sharp and pitches the Dodgers toa series victory. Game two coming up,
tim, Yeah, Gavin Stone fourand zero with a two eerra in
his last six stars Dodgers thirty threeand seventeen on this season. Good news
is Padres already lost today, Giantsalready lost today. So the Dodgers of

(40:30):
will win tonight could be nine gamesup on San Diego and ten games up
on San Francisco. Also would beeleven games up on Arizona with the win
over the Diamondbacks, so the leadcan keep expanding if the Dodgers can keep
winning to make their fifth win ina row tonight, with Gavin Stone on

(40:50):
the mound, first pitch when wecome back, Dodgers and Diamondbacks, I'm
