here since the sixties? Right?My dad used to golf here when he
was growing up. My dad grewup on this street, Uh, down

that street on Roan Road off Palace. Well, first they lived on a
on a twenty fifth street or anyway. Uh, he is h he's a
guy who used to golf here andthis is an old club. But they
redid it a while back and hada very long renovation and now it's so
boogie that it hosts events like LosAngeles Chargers Invitational presented by Children's Hospital Los

Angeles presenting sponsor. And we've beenhere twice now doing this tournament interrupted by
the pandemic, and it blows mymind that I can just drive down the
street and we can hook up ourshow and do it from a golf club
that I've driven by my entire life. Now, there used to be a
giant sand factory around here, andthe golf course was around the sand factory,

and said sand factory had like ahuge like some kind of erected lookings
like it wasn't a smokestack, butit was like, you know, it
was like from a cartoon where thesand comes up in crates. Like it
was like it looked like a realmocky nah and the assembly line like hey,
yeah, kind of like that.Yeah, and a box up this
sand and ship it off and thewind would blow and the sand would blow

into the faces of the golfers.You got to face adversity in the game
of golf, you know, itmakes you a stronger player. They have
eliminated a great deal of that adversityof belief. It's like golfing with Lords
of Arabia. A lot of thatadversity has been eliminated as they built this
beautiful links course and redid the clubhouseand moved it to the other side of
the street and all this beautiful stuff. It's a great country club. And

the reason we show love to itbecause we are not really a country club
and show even though Matt used towell, Matt used to belong to a
country club, but those days arebehind this. Days are long gone.
Matt hasn't washed his hair since nineteenninety four. It's been like a week
and a half. So we comehere because Derek is our friend who runs
this club, and he's a biglistener and he's in charge of the club.

We love him. Derek's the best. The club is incredible. The
days of the Sand Factory, whenthey didn't sell baseball caps, they seld

play around. It was gnarly rightback and then wind blew the wrong way.

it's all gone. They used thatas a foundation for lush fair Way.

season is like for an NFL playeras opposed I mean, I played college
football, so we all kind ofdid the same thing, right, We
all did the same run on Monday, we all did the same lift that
day. You know, how isit different for a guy like you in

it's really on you. You don'thave any coaches telling you what to do.
So the main thing I wanted tohead into the Austins is have a
plan, you know, have aschedule. So you know, I got
with Mondo. You know, Italking to my dad, you know whoever
he you know I had access to, you know, figure out, you
know, how do I go aboutthis, and you know, I gather
all that information and I've been atit since honestly, uh maybe two weeks
after the last game. So sowhen it comes to this year, we

heard Keenan say it. I thinkyou just kind of talked about how much
excitement is around the team. Atthe free agency. You got Khalil Matt
coming in obviously you're rushing the pastornow you got Joey and Khalil to to
kind of pick their their brain,give us an idea of just like what
the vibe is at these voluntary OTAswhere everybody's kind of turned out. Yeah,
I mean the vibe OTAs has beengoing great. Everybody's locked in.

You know, we're just kind ofbouncing as an a room. We're just
bouncing ideas off each other. Imean we got Kyle van Nooid, we
got Khalil, we got Joey Ithink, you know, combine they got
like thirty years plus and me,you know, and going into my second

some pretty good courses in the DCarea, uh, near Annapolis, but
nothing like this. This is amazing. You know. We were walking one

of the holes and we saw sofar in the distance and really, yeah,
it's amazing. But I'm surprising myselfbecause it's been years since I played.
But I'm shaking the rust off,you know, are geting some good

You know, I got the golfshirt, but my golf shoes and my
clubs are back in Maryland, soI had to make do what I okay

How has the off season been goingfor both? The gas has been going
well for me, just trying toget into the playbook and new playbook,
trying to get a get customed tothat, get used to be on,
get on the same page with us, and stuff like that. But it's
been great. It's been great.I lived down here for the last four

the airport, by the apt straightback to Sacramento to see the big Rabbit

honestly, it's just you know,getting the reps down on the right side.
It's felt pretty natural. You know, I'm right handed. You know,
there's a lot in sports science thatgoes down, so you know,
when you're right handed, playing onthe right side, offensive lines usually better.
But I felt pretty good, andyou know, the vets have been
helping me a lot, and youknow, it's been good to learn the
new playbook and and mesh well withwith my new teammates. I just want
to get back to the clubs fora second. So you're a gigantic human

being, do you swing with aton of swing? Like? Do you
have extra stiff clubs? Aren't theyan inch long? Like? What did
they set you up? What didyou get in the pro shop to help
you out here today? So backwhen I played before, I was like
two hundred and twenty two hundred andthirty pounds. So my clubs that I
need now are different. I definitelyneed stiff shot and you know, probably

a bit longer clubs than the oneI used at home. But uh,
you know the clubs I have now, they're they're working well for me.
Yeah, we are your stiff shaftshow. You talk about getting in the
playbook. But in the return world, is there, like, man,
I really liked returning it for thoseguys. They had a dude that could

really block, like you know,I mean returning to kick for is it?
Is it very different for you know, at this level, different teams.
It just comes down to the scheme. A lot of the time,
the scheme's very different. No,not not for the most part. It's
pretty much the same. It reallyjust comes down to the you know,
the guys on the unit. Likeonce you everybody buy into it and everybody

putting one hundred effort into it,that's when special things started to happen.
So we got a great UNI,great great corps. I'm excited to you
know, put our put our producton the field on Sundays. When I
was a young man, Detroit Lionsused to have a returner and he was
just a returner. He never hedidn't do anything else. Okay, the

you grow up watching? Take ballsback and inspired you because some guys don't

kind of watching those guys, andI watched you know, the guys in
the league that's still playing right now. And I try to take as much
as I can from anybody that Ican, and you know, try to
apply it to my game. ButI definitely grew up devons Zion. You
uh, you leap college. Theydo everything for you, so specifically nutrition,
Like, what what's that been likefor you? Just kind of happened
to set your your own thing up? How much are the Chargers helping you

out? What's the diet like now? I mean, it's been good.
Our nutritionists has really been helping me. But I'd say even for me in
college, I was someone who triedto be on top of my nutrition,
so the transition hasn't been as difficult. But you know, working with the
nutritionists getting a plan specifically for mehas definitely helped so far. You think
you're gonna start golfing again, Iactually do it. Yeah, after being

on this course, I mean,you can't beat it. It's here.
