Speaker 1 (00:13):
What up er body? Yo, Welcome to another episode of
the East Word Show. I'm taking you guys done memory
Lane with this one and Surrey versus Brampton. What is
the better city? I don't know where this conversation is

(00:34):
going to go. This is just a weird little idea
in the back of my head because I believe hey
harp Pre made this beat. Yeah that's his ig handle,
Hey hart Pre. His producer name is Elment like Lament,
and these are this is Revived Films, Okay, not like

(00:54):
that video that's waffles and Beats. So I'm basically going
back over the ten year period to talk about this
ship because you know, Suri has Surre is known worldwide
as a brown mini pin job whatever whatever. But Toronto,
the GTA area has a lot more emotion in regards

(01:16):
to people who have created and actually contributed to the culture.
And I would say this episode Revived Films is a
perfect example of this at really a level that I
find very highly respectable. And I want to give these
guys their props. Maybe so funny if they just hate
my pod and they're just like they report their footage
to be used in ship. So Jay and j they're

(01:38):
guys out here that do camera work and stuff. I
think they did Ak's wedding. They showed me this Tokyo
vlog that revived film guys did, right, So I'm gonna this.
We're gonn start the episode. I'm gonnahow you guys a
little bit of this vlog and then I'm gonna start,
you know, decompressing and giving you the takes. Today is

(01:58):
August thirtieth, So this is Dusty right. For those of
you guys don't know Dusty Quiet, I've never met Dusty.
I've not even talked to him. But I've talked to Noise,
I've talked to be Magic, I've talked to a bunch
of people in the periphered that I kind of have
an idea of who this enigmatic character is, right. I remember,
way back in the day on his YouTube he had

(02:18):
this post where he did graffiti for some guy's birthday film.
They was just so nuts. This guy's mad talented. He
can produce. Somebody had told me. I forgot who it
was that he went. There's a site called mix, Mix
and Master. So if anybody wants to really learn how
to what's called mix with the masters. My bad, so

(02:39):
mix with the Masters. I've enrolled in this before. It's
pretty expensive to really figure out how to mix properly
and stuff. And then they do these competitions or they
do these retreats, and Dusty went on the retreat and
he was with Young Guru And for those you guys
don't know, Young Guru is jay Z's mixer, so Dusty
was with him. And then Dusty also did the alut

(03:00):
album for for Noise that the Low Fi Glory, which
I did buy, you know, shout out to Noise and
amazing photographer, just a super whatever. I'm glazing, a guy
I've never even met, which is hilarious and don't even
really know I could be so off. But and then
his brother, Hey, harp pray, this guy could produce beats.
This guy's graphic design is amazing. These guys have a
certain type of style. And then you Gottatt Vive Films, Right.

(03:21):
These guys are kind of jokes and they take their
craft very seriously. And that's a big point of what
I'm talking about, the craft the culture. That's something that
Surrey is completely lacking in. And if you guys watch
some of their stuff, I recommend the RGB radio I mean,
the one thing I will say, my only critique is

(03:41):
that the fucking sound audio quality was dog show. I
don't know what the fuck happened there, but if you can,
if you can listen to it enough, you could tell
they are dedicated to their craft, which in one instance
is specifically photography, filming, you know, shit like that. But sure,
this is this is a genre of this sy videos

(04:02):
that we have not seen. Okay, yeah, there's some genannia making,
oh going back to Punjab for the fiftieth time vlog
or whatever. But sings that are just doing regular shit. Okay, Yeah,
sure there's sings that all larp and go into the
forest and you know, bring their shotguns and do fucking
photo shoots and stuff and shoot at the fucking leaves
and be like, yo, fucking call so this call so

(04:23):
that join now whatever. But that's I don't know that
just to me retard shit, it's just autistic behavior. But
these guys are just just regular life stuff. I've always
wanted to see sings experiencing the world and not I know,
there's some dipper sing vlogs and stuff, right, some dips
and stuff. I think it's been jabb in Korea vlog
Benjab being Korea vlog. This guy right here in the

(04:45):
deep bra right, but he's he's a disy, you know,
he's just a straight up this sy and you know,
big up to him and his vlog whatever. But you
could just look at the thumbnails and just Jesus Christ, bro,
these look horrible, just super dipped out of this one's
not bad though, the Bhutan on the these, but he's
a travel vlogger, right, And again this is not specifically
about travel vlogging. This is more about the type of

(05:08):
people the culture that's producing these types of characters, Okay,
and or the city and the culture that's producing these
kind of characters. Right, So like this toklog like this
is super jokes and we're gonna cut them on the plane.
And these guys are like what we call revived films.
Those two guys, this is Dusty. They they do the

(05:29):
filming and stuff for Carnogeula. So like they like from
their pure passion, they've risen up the ranks and like boom,
they've got into a level where like I mean, I
think on on their one of their igs, like they
were at the Jimmy Fallon thing or whatever, like pretty
crazy stuff and this is like this type of again,

(05:53):
like this type of con like, this type of content
is not stuff you see in whatever, like some people
are just logs. There's not enough this like whatever. Like again,
these I mean, these guys aren't vloggers. They had footage
of Tokyo and then they turned it into like a vlog.
But I would highly recommend watching this, Like I think
it's super just like interesting because they're also coming at

(06:17):
it from like a singing perspective, right, There's certain things
that they talk about in the video that's like like
only a sing would would understand. Oh yeah, by the way, guys,
the book I totally forgot. Okay, so the order is
officially in. This is like a do or die moment. Basically,

(06:37):
if you're one of the first five hundred to get
a copy, you will get a numbered copy basically like
it comes at the little like certificate saying what number
you got, and We're I'm thinking of doing a like
like a raffle giveaway situation for the first five hundred.
So like if you get a book and like let's
say you have book number three hundred and forty eight,

(06:59):
and then the raffle picks three forty eighth and like
we're going to give something because this is like giving
back to the community, giving back to Like the book
was like a crazy process. You know, you fucking did
a crowdfunded it. Then we got some investors involved and
like boom, like just so much stuff, so many ways,
so many like bumps and hurdles, and it's taken so
long and now it's finally coming in in July like

(07:22):
almost like eleven months after or ten eleven months after.
It's like inception. So I'm really excited for that. I mean,
just get your car. I don't know what else to say,
like to be honest, like you know, there's like a
few high pro not a few. There's a bunch of
high profile people buying copies getting copies, and I don't know,
like again like after that first five hundred batch, there's

(07:45):
more than that. I Just get your copy while you can. Man.
I do have a feeling in like how I'm moving
and trying to push this like it's there man, just
you know it is what it is. But anyways, back
to the vlog, right, Like I've seen this thing like
twenty times. Man, I think I'll watch it like every
few months, and I don't know why I just keep
coming back to it all the time because it's just

(08:06):
it's just rowdy enjoying, right, so just everything and so
like whatever, yeah, watch it for yourself. I'm not gonna
like it's not about the commentary about the vlog, but
these guys as characters, right, and these characters talking about
their experiences about whatever. But this is now where I
draw the parallel. Like you don't see this in Surrey, Okay,

(08:28):
in Surrey you get this very weird phenomenon where you
have people who want to do something creative for a
while and then something happens and they just pook out.
Like if you look at the list of everyone that
Toronto Area, let's just say GT area has produced, right,
let's start from the top, just Rain, Lily saying, Ak Humble,
the Poet, Noise, be Magic, Sung, Guitar, sid Do, Revived Films,

(08:56):
Dusty Hey hardpre Like I'm probably missing like a bunch
more names, but like that's a crazy list. Then who
do we have? We have Jeni MOGA's not really from
here like that, but let's just say, fine, Jenni Moga,
Palmer's the world me and then Randy. Maybe there's a

(09:19):
couple of other people I'm missing at the top of
my list that are like worth mentioning, but other than that,
like nothing and and like okay, even if we talk
about like the Royal Beggars for example, right, this is
like Arnie, Right, Arnie cuts his hair and like he
just completely like I don't know what happened. He just
like was allergic to fucking making content. Again, just Jeet

(09:40):
is like I think, like shout out to just get
he on the early the first version of the pod
back in twenty seventeen, Like he came through to a
lot of episodes. You know, he was a friend. I
don't know, this guy isn't talk to me anymore, but
he was dope and they actually gave gave me my start.
I've talked about this before, but like Doomsday Doom used
to be my other like producer tag and then Dreams

(10:01):
was like one of the tracks that you can hear
in the video and shit, and so like they did
this pod thing, but like I remember talking to these
guys and so like if you guys remember they had
they had Gucci Joe Hall that was like one of
the most fucking hilarious characters. Ever, it was Hundi's dundees.
But then Hundi's dundees like, oh, I'm getting a job
after do this delete all the videos. So all the
videos that Hundi's is in, they got them deleted. And

(10:22):
that's the weird thing about Surrey, Like people here like
they don't want to take the risk of like actually creating,
and then they like pook out right, like it's funny,
like Arnie cut his hair, pooked out, Sooobie cut his hair,
pooked out, Like a lot of these guys surprisingly cut
their hair and they pooked out like they just their
minds were never really the same again from like the
type of content that they were doing. But like I

(10:44):
don't know exactly what causes it, because like, okay, I
think maybe there's a little bit of it. First off,
we live on the West coast, West coast, best coast,
like the Pacific Northwest is so chill, and I think
one of the biggest issues is like we just have
access to like crazy and that makes us very laid back,
very chilled out. Like maybe people in like Manitoba or

(11:06):
Calgary or Toronto don't have this exact same experience. I
don't know, but like people were smoking weed in like
grade eight, grade nine, like I remember, like that was
a very regular thing. Like every like you knew most
of the teachers had smoked weed at some point. You
knew most of the students are going to or have
smoked weed at some point. Like weed was just so
ubiquitous with the West Coast because of BC bud right,

(11:28):
Like I don't care what anyone says. BC has had
some of the best cush on planet Earth for like
the longest time, better than Colorado or California, name it,
like ours has eat better than Amsterdam for most of
like modern history. Like for some reason, Vancouver just we
had the perfect whatever. It's not about weed, but I
think the Surre's like laid back attitude and the fact

(11:51):
that if you look at Surrey, like we are very
we're very isolated. Okay, you see this, you see the
boundary of Surrey, right, so like if you see this,
there's like a loop this road all around from this
this road right here, this Highway fifteen, Highway ten and
Highway seventeen, so ninety one, seventeen, fifteen ten, like that

(12:13):
everything within that is like Surrey Brownville or whatever, and
there's no need to like have to compete. There's no
other types of people that are competing, right, like for example,
like Seth Rogen and like Ryan Reynolds. Like Ryan Reynolds
I think comes from Burnaby, Seth Rogan comes from Point Gray. Right,
So this area by UBC. Like what I'm trying to say,

(12:37):
Like the point I'm getting at here is like in Toronto,
you have other types of people and other communities trying
to get on the come up. Right. You had the Weekend,
you had Drake, you had you know, Carden, Cardinal Official
or whatever. But you have other types of peoples in
different genres trying to make it right. You have YouTubers
all this type of shit, and that's not what happened
in Surrey. I feel like what happened in Surrey's we're

(12:59):
so inated. We have such a like small village mentality,
such a I don't give a fuck like attitude that
nothing ever made us be Like yo, I want to
get to this height. I want to be a creative
like I'm doing this for the for the love of
the game. I just want to create. And that's like
these guys revive films, the fucking humbles, the just Rerains
of the world. Like look at where just Rain is today, right,

(13:22):
Like like like do you guys remember where he started?
You know, like whatever you guys think of his content,
whatever you guys think about his show, Like that's not
even the point. But like this guy, I'm just going
on like like the oldest twenty five random things in
my room sixteen years ago, and now look at where
he is today, Like this guy has a TV show

(13:44):
on a major network of Crave, right, Like that's pretty impressive.
It doesn't matter if you don't like the guy or whatever,
but like that's still impressive in totality. And you had
ak you know, like ak, you know where he came from.
Like even if you look at the Buggy video, where

(14:05):
is it? Okay? I hear then AKA both Humble b
Magic and then like sick knowledge on stage. I forgot
that guy's name is. That's a bubblo right there. Tattoo
artists are kind of like really weird, aren't they? Right there?

(14:28):
Like just trained bubblu like the I mean I don't
not talking about like I don't want to get into
the like how they all split up and egos blah,
blah blah. I'm not interested in that. I'm more interested
in the fact that, like Surrey, Surrey is the older
city here, like that this is the fucking weird part.
Surrey is like like we were a city in the

(14:48):
early nineties, Brampton only became like fucking brown Central and
like the mid two thousands, late two thousands and even regardless,
like they just shot in front of us, like so
much creativity from so many different guys, so many different people,
Like how is that even possible? And I mean, in
my experience, like Brampton, like as a city, Brampton sucks

(15:11):
compared to Surrey, Like I've stayed there multiple times now,
and this is not a shot. This is just like
Brampton is like brick city, very suburban, very like small town,
whereas like Surrey, man, like you know you go to

(15:33):
like if you go to Surrey, bro Like there's three
cities in Surrey itself, like three mini Surrey like City Central,
you have Newton and Newton Exchange, you have Surrey Central,
and then you have Guildford where they're basically building towers
out there, and then Vancouver is like a stone throwaway.
Whereas like if you go to Toronto, like Brampton is
like almost like it feels like it's an hour from

(15:53):
fucking downtown Toronto, like it's and it's just like the
way it's built is like kind of garbage, like not
Brampton but the GTA area. It's just like it's like starts,
it starts from the like the coast, and it just
like floods inwards, whereas like Vancouver is built. Vancouver's built

(16:15):
just much more superiorly, like the way like UBC's at
the tip pause, and then you know you have this
like Manhattan esques like like island in the middle that
has all this cool shit. You have the fucking uh
the not the boardwalk, what's it called the sea wall,
and then the fucking Stanley Park is there as well.

(16:35):
Like this is dope. Like the way it was built,
it's just like very well done, I would say, And
just being there like and when you get you when
you're when you're in Brampton, you just feel like this
insane hustle and bustle twenty for seven that like I'm
not really I don't really like it, right, And so
what's weird here is like how do they have so
much motion? Like why is it that these guys have
more sauce, they have more motion and we have the

(16:58):
head start right again. And like revive example, Revived Films
is a good example of this, all right. They they're
so like I don't know people from here that are
just so passionate about their art and creativity like most people,
I'm gonna just call it a buck you know, guys
that we know very publicly, I guess, and you know

(17:21):
X people like they never cared about the creative aspect
of it. They just cared for what it did for them.
Like Revived Films do not strike me as guys who
are like doing camera work and you know, filming and
stuff because they want to be famous. Revived Film strikes
me as guys that are just like so into uh

(17:41):
like doing art, doing art at a high level, doing
create creative stuff at a high level that like they
just they have no option but to produce and create.
We don't have guys like that here, I don't not
that I know. Like I've been to the five X events.
There's only like a few care but they transcend like

(18:02):
Surrey and stuff in general. Like for for example, I
would say like a Singh bid, the if you guys.
I'm gonna put you guys onto this career here a
singh Bid, the you Singbid the I g okay, Like
this is a this is a good friend of mine.
He does art. He makes music like this dude, is

(18:24):
that is that like the highest level of like creativity.
He his art style like you can basically say it's
like a mixed of like Lichtenstein and who the fuck
else like Warhol in Lichtenstein. Basically he's like a mix
It's kind of like that, but I don't want to
say that either. Like it's like like like this style,

(18:45):
this comic book esque style, clean lines, very like like this,
this is very high level stuff here, you know, it's
not like redoing miniatures and ship like like this guy's
are and and I met him at a five X event, right,
so five X supposed to be like this mixer for
like creative artists down here in Surrey and stuff and

(19:06):
or in the VANCOUVERI and shit and like from that,
like I've I don't know, I know, I know of
all those people, a singh Bid is the only guy
that comes to mind. Maybe don't dose as well, but
they're not like fully fully in it like that like
even this, like this is pretty pretty good shit like
minimalist and but still like a lot of detail, Like

(19:27):
even like the Venom is this has done really well.
He's just such a trippy guy. Man, He's such a
dope dude, and like I fuck with him really, like
he's definitely evolving the art style, like this is amazing
right here. Fuck with this pretty hard. But the thing
is is like I want to see more of this
art being produced by the city, Like I want to
see people and just so passionate about what they do,

(19:47):
and this is something I see lacking from a lot
of people. Like I talked to my cousin today. This
guy just came back from Tokyo and he's like, you know,
I want to do something with my life, like something
more creative and stuff. And he's twenty one. I'm like, okay,
like what have you tried? And he's not tried anything. Yeah,
he he talks about, like I can, I can. I've
done all these I've like thought of all these mong ideas.
I've thought of all these ideas, but I haven't tried anything.

(20:10):
And that's that's like okay, then, like do you really
have that in you? Like when I was in elementary school.
When I was in college for school, me and my
buddies were obsessed with DJing and we really wanted to
DJ really badly, and so we all like downloaded virtual
DJ and we would make mixes and come to school
like this is like grade five, six seven, Like we

(20:32):
would make mixes and like we would come to school
to show each other, like, yo, I made this one, Yo,
I made this one. We had them on YouTube stuff.
I think my name was, Like I wonder if that
if that channel is still up it is dj MCX.
I doubt that it'll be like even online today, Like

(20:53):
there's just no fucking way. It's probably like very deep
deep in the annals of like you know, youtwoe whatever whatever.
But this was like back in like grade five. I
don't even know how I'll be able to find find
this Maybex mix. Yeah, I'm not gonna be able to

(21:19):
find this, but like if somebody finds it and like
you'll know it's me type shit, like you'll it's not
because it's me, but like you can just talk from
the graphics and stuff that it's me. But like you know,
finding songs, combining them whatever, like this is stuff and
it's just like not even like we didn't think we
were gonna get bitches because this. We didn't think we're
gonna get money out of this. It was just like
you're homie being like, Yo, that's dope. And that was

(21:39):
something like when I was working on music, Like when
I'm working with this guy, like I would just want
to like say a line or come up with a
melody or something that like like this dude would be like, Yo,
that's dope, Like whoa, And I don't think that exists
out here in sorry, Like I wish to find those
kind of people, you know, like I'm not like hoarding
the podcast space, like I'm down to talk to other

(22:01):
people and should and create a vibe and stuff. But
that energy of just like a lot of people are
weirdly jaded out here, Like even I talked to just
g like this guy's like I don't know, Like this
guy just stopped talking to me. I don't know what
it's about, and like it just feels like a very
jaded energy from this guy and a lot of other guys.
Hundi's dundees like fucking hates my guts because I literally
couldn't find We did a podcast back in the day,

(22:24):
Hundi's Dundees. I think it'll be Doom's Day Doom. Yeah,
so the Aimless podcast he was on it. I swear
I literally cannot find the login for this fucking like APA.
I just can't. Like I don't even know what the
email was, I don't know nothing. And this guy just
was like choked, like he's like fuck you. Fuck that,

(22:44):
Like I don't talk to me anymore and stuff because
because he's like I don't want any I don't want
any like digital footprint of me online. And I'm like, well,
like what what am I supposed to do about that?
Like I literally can't And then you're just like fuck you.
Like these guys have this very very like weird allergy
to like they're like really like it's like tortured artists
syndrome or some shit. I don't know, but I do

(23:04):
think now if you look at the whole Revived film
situation that in that regard, it's very clear that like
it's so clear that they figured out a pathway. Like
how crazy is that? Like these guys have officially created
a pathway to go up the ladder to actually make
your creativity your full time job like that's a beautiful thing. Man,

(23:27):
that doesn't happen like much in life. Here, there's only
one person other than me who can do this full
time and is and that's Jenny. You've got to give
it up to that fact alone that like he is
able to full time dedicate his life. But there's nobody
else doing your full time. There's no full time like
artists and full time like creators like that. Like a

(23:48):
lot of people have side downs. And I'll tell you
this right now, right if you want to make it
in anything in life, and it's a big gamble, you're
gonna have to eat shit the whole like persistence and
consistent and see type shit that argued. That's basically like
nice speech, nice speak for the fact that you need
to eat shit. Okay, that's all. That's all that is.

(24:11):
You need to eat shit for a long time because
you're not gonna make it overnight. You're never gonna be
an overnight success. I shot on Neon, but he was
on a Palm Versus the World episode like three years ago,
and he was a nobody then, right, you know he's
a nobody because he's on Parm's fucking showback then, right,
like let me, let me, let me see, let's see

(24:33):
where is this. He was right here three years ago
the shabs e ed eate, right, so they got Neon.
He was a nobody back then. He was still a
clown and he had put maybe even a couple of
years before that, so he was he's been doing this
for five years. And now I would say, like twenty

(24:54):
twenty six is one of his biggest years, Like this
is his big year, twenty twenty five kind of, but
twenty two is his big year. And so a lot
of people think that like they're they're like creative, their
creative life for their creative situation can be a good
plan b. Okay, whereas a lot of these guys like Revive,

(25:16):
you know, just Rain a k A lot these guys,
I mean not a ka. He didn't have that consistency
at one point. But a lot of these other guys
they they view this ship as like this is plan B.
If it goes off, it goes off. Now you have
to basically do this full time in each ship and
figure it out. That's the only way. There's there is
no other there's nothing else that you can do. Yeah, anyways,

(25:46):
what do you call it? Anyways. But now on like
the actual like Surrey versus Brampton. I think Brampton people
are a little bit more backwards and that's this is
where I think Surrey is a lot better because I
think what happened in Brampton that two to my word
ski fam like that whole, Like I don't want Baboo's
mouth open on my fucking in the background. I think

(26:08):
that whole Like I think like this is where we
this is where we have a pro but turns into
a con. And this is where they have a prone
that turns into a con. This is a con that whatever.
So because in Surrey we're insulated as fuck where there's
no gale out here. In in BC in general, we
don't have like a big gala community. There's no Caribbeans,

(26:29):
West Indies, none, none of that type of shit, right
And because of that, we're insulated. We don't get this
weird influence of like yo too to my word skis fam, Like,
we don't do that because our are like the Surrey
jack slang is that version like of Toronto, Like in
Toronto they got the two two words skis whatever, like
are here there's no black influence, there's no disinfluence. It's

(26:52):
literally just this see Surrey jack slang that influences the
entire lower mainline. So when you talk like, yo, where
do you? What the fuck? When you talk like that,
people know exactly where you're from. They know you're from Surrey,
they know you have that slang. And even like Goda
kids are picking up on that. But the thing in
Toronto is Toronto. The Dicees are very heavily influenced by
all these other cultures, right by the Jamaicans, the West

(27:14):
Indian people, the Caribbean. Even there's a lot of bombers
out there. There's a lot of like different people, Greeks, Italians, whatever.
It's not like that here in Surrey at all. It's
literally just like white people that don't even know what
kind of white people they are, Chinese, Japanese and Korean
people in Richmond. Burnaby has more white people. Coquitlam has
like Iranian Persians, shit like that. Surrey has just dissies.

(27:36):
Langley has actually shudow a map. I'm talking about this.
So Surrey, this area, all this all thissy people. Basically
Langley is all white people. The people that were like
couldn't afford Surrey you anymore and got the fuck out.
Abbot's Ward is a mix of Surrey and like really
racist gode like they live out here. It's kind of
like the Boonese type shit. Then you have Richmond, which

(27:58):
is this area here. This is like Asia Central, like
mini Asia, mini China, Mini Japan, Mini Korea, mostly Chinese
and Koreans a little bit Japanese. And then this whole
area here Burnaby, Vancouver. This is all white people, like
people who had money here from time and shit. North
West Van is like really a lot of money North
Fan as well. And then this area here this is Coquitlam,

(28:18):
Port Moody, Burquitlam, shit like that. This is like Persians, Iranians, whatever,
And it's all very like like like siloed off. But
if we go to now Brampton, obviously Brampton is like
a small city, but like this ss are mixed amongst
like Mississauga you got this season, Milton, you got this season, Guelph,

(28:42):
you got this season, London, Ontario, you got this season.
How like they're mixed up there. They didn't all just
go like pick up and go like yo wrong going
to Brampton. A lot of this ses did start going
to Brampton, Like the Surdy mode really fucking took off
of Like, Yo, you should like congregate in one city,
but it's still like kind of spread up, Like even
like Eddie Bcoq, whatever the fuck kind of city this

(29:03):
name is, Like even they've got Dacey's out there, and
Rexdale has Dace's, Malton has Dacey's right Sunny Maltin right,
Like these are all different burrows and different areas that
like a lot of Daces come out of. And I
think that like spreading out has people like exposed to
different flavors. Now, the pro here is that that like
they they're exposed to different flavors, they're exposed to different

(29:25):
types of people, right, Like just Train his buddies are
like the Trey Richard brothers or Richard whatever the fuck
their name is, and you know, humble, Like all these
guys got to see different types of people who might
have already just had that creative bone in their body.
And then they're like, Yo, if they could do what
I could do it too, right, But the con is
is that like you're very heavily influenced by another people,

(29:46):
that it could kind of become weird. Yo, Tuo to
my words keys fam you know that type of shit.
You know, I don't want to like if you guys
know me enough, especially on the discord or whatever, like
you know exactly how really want to say it, but
I'm not going to say it. And then if you
come to like Surrey, Surrey is like there's no infiltration here.
Like a lot of brown Curdy are low key. Like
the average brown Curdie does not want to fuck a

(30:09):
white guy. They don't want to be with white dudes.
They don't want to like go out of race. The
average Unjabi dude, they'll just fuck whoever and then marry
the brown girl. Like that's usually the situation in Surrey,
very specifically. But there's so the pro here is we're insulated.
No one's influencing us to become really weird. Yes there
are influences, but we're not like trying to be another community.

(30:30):
We're not trying to like blackface ourselves. But then the
con is is that you don't get exposed to different
types of modes of people, modes of thinking, ideas, creative, creativity,
create creativity and all that type of shit, Like in
my experience, in my life, I'm basically elementary school calls
to school, not a fucking white person in cite such

(30:51):
different mentality, like literally like people like beefing about Luna
Noon blah blah, Malvay casts and shit like that, like
dumb shit like that they have high school completely people though,
which in one way was again positive because like I
say this, like Surrey and Brampton, people can relate to this,
where like when there's when the white people are like
the losers of your high school. It doesn't matter even

(31:11):
if they're on the fucking basketball team. They're basically the
losers because like everyone's brown. It's like getting the high
school musical experience. But like you guys are the dope people.
You know, Like if you listen to some of these,
like people like David Chow for example, he's a Korean guy.
When you listen to him talk about his high school experience,
he'll be like, I was like invisible when girls talk

(31:32):
about who they want to fuck, I wasn't on the list.
But in Surrey, like all the brown people, the most
popular brown people, most popular brown girls, these types of
friend groups, these other ones, like they're all fucking each other,
like like Dacy's aren't like fucking late bloomers in this regard,
they're early bloomers, like I had a lot of my
early experiences in high school because again, like you're not

(31:54):
the rando fucking one goodie kid in a majority white
black school in the middle of fucking SoCal or whatever
or San Francisco, Like everyone looks like you, So there's
no weirdness to that. I mean there was like in
the the or late like there was, like again any situation,
but that's kind of like that has died down of
it because again, if you look at all the things

(32:14):
that I've been making it, most of them come from Toronto,
just rain, humble, fucking revive noise. Like all these guys,
like most of the dudes who really made it made
it and they're like very visible, so ca BK, Like
they're all they all have bugs, right, the guys from
the West Coast, not as much like Carnlage obviously not
like to do from that side. Right, But again, I'm

(32:38):
now in a high school situation where like I'm around
like other retarded this he is basically the guys who's
only like thing in life is like I need to
get a good job from university. That's all I care
about here or like I'm just gonna fuck off. Like
from my high school, there's nobody i think ever that's
come out as a creative person that's actually like doing

(32:59):
crazy stuff at a high level like this sea Wise.
I know there's a couple of white guys and shit
that ended up doing some stuff riff tracks if you know,
you know, but this wise nobody but on in Toronto.
It seems like it's a dime a dozen. Like these
guys pop up all the time, and not even like
they just pop up, but they're good at what they do.

(33:19):
So now this is like the next level. Like if
you have a craft, are you doing your craft for
the right for the right reason, or are you doing
your craft because you have an ulterior motive, like you
want bitches? Like that's the thing that annoys you a
lot about most guys, Like they want to either get
famous or they want to get bitches. Like ninety percent
of guys are like that. Or it's just for the money,
you know, So they're creating product, it's a business. It's

(33:41):
not really art, it's not really creativity. And Surrey in
that regard is really bad because we have such a
dipper mindset. Again, This is the con of being insulated
in a tribal town, village mentality versus out there in Toronto.
I think that there's this like feeling of like I
want to impress my homies, I want to press the community.

(34:01):
Like even Rupee, right, Rupee Core fucking came out of there,
Like we haven't had crazy talent even though we're so concentrated,
like you would think with a population that's like this big.
I think Brampton has a bigger population, but still like
Surrey has a lot more history, Like we have the
history of the Kama Godamaru, we have the history of
like sound Justing coming here into around here, Like there's

(34:23):
a sunsty Justing history. In Toronto, there is sonthing saying
history Vancouver, the Mills history, the fucking Like our history
stretches back at least like one hundred and fifty years
almost in the Lower Mainland area, and we haven't produced
people like there's one guy I could think of that's
really like this is like a really deep pull.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
Where you.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Going, Billy? Yeah, which way you going? Billy? Poppy family.
So this is trippy because images right here, one of
the sings is one of the people the drummer on this,
on this and this psychedelic rock group the Poppy Family

(35:07):
that are from Vancouver. One of the dudes is a
is a sing he has the stars a bug with
like he's like an actual disy Like this what I'm saying,
Like we clearly dropped the ball, Like this is fucking
insane that we have this to look at nineteen sixty
nineteen seventy three, Okay, the Poppy Family. Where what happened
to all the creativity after that? Like what happened to

(35:29):
the taking risks? The being creative like disease. We have
such a creative history like look at goodogob and singing.
You look at Covey. I talk about it all the time,
going Cove's and Oaks sing the poetic tradition of like
writing in poetry from Punjab, the singing tradition that came
out of Punjab. Like it's so deep and yet no
one like it's not a culture that we have here. Yes,

(35:52):
I know a lot of like fucking dippers want to
make songs because they want to get famous. But again,
like there's a lot of different ways to be creative,
to be unique, to be interesting, Like I'm gonna give
like a shout out to like like Zevar Custom Diamonds. Right, this,
this dude's like a buddy a mine, Like I fuck

(36:12):
with this guy heavy. He's at File Business Center and
like he's like obsessed with his craft. Right, obviously this
is a business, and I mean Judry is also art,
I would argue, and this guy is like fully obsessed
with his craft at the highest level, like the pieces
that he makes, Like he really is, like yo, like
if I'm gonna make something, I'll make it at the
highest fucking level. And like he's young, so he gets

(36:36):
the culture. He could do grills, he can do chains,
he can fucking do whatever, custom pieces, right, Okay, you
watch it. Get like this guy is obsessed with his craft.
We don't have that many of those guys. And so
like for example five X right, the five X thing
where you know, if you guys been following us, there
was a whole fucking scene for a while where these
guys that kicked us out and they're just being a
bunch of footloos and shit. But these guys that like

(37:00):
when they do their events, we've gone to them. I
haven't come across people. I'm like, whoa holy shit, bro,
you're fucking like wow, like yo, like tell me, I'm
so interested. Like I've talked a bunch of these guys
like they're just whatever is They're like nothing burgers to me,
man like Jazzy b is a legacy act, okay. And

(37:21):
then most of these other guys, I don't know if
they're gon from here, but they're just like random singer
guys who get like one fucking song popping and then
they call it a day. Right, They're not like super big,
They're not like again, the craft is what I'm talking about, right,
so revive films.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Right.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
If we go to this vlog, right, there's like a
moment where they switch to It's also funny they have
this like a moment where they talk about eating meat
because like sings like I have like a natural like
like don't eat meat. So they're eating waygoo beef here
and shit looks fucking hell of fire. But there's a
moment where they go to the team labs and anyone
who goes like you need to go to the team
labs and then they just like crease the filming. They're

(37:59):
just like whoa like the way they're able to film,
and I think I have another video, if I'm not wrong,
from their Tokyo yeah right here, which is like done
really well. As again, like do I wish I want

(38:25):
to see more of this type of shit, man, Like
I want to see people take risks with drawing, with painting,
with fucking film cameras, with editing, with vlogs, like like,
there hasn't been this like creative explosion to happen. And
I think this affects us negatively here and Surrey very specifically.
I still think Surry's more superior because like a lot
more bread can be made here. You there's a Vancouver

(38:46):
lifestyle like Surrey just has such a higher ceiling than Brampton.
I've been to Brampton. It's not something like a place
I want to go back anytime soon, like unless it's
to like link my boys out there. It's Surrey that's
really like the fucking spot, the parks, the feelings. And
you know what like perfectly like is emblematic of this

(39:06):
is the Royal Beggars. They have a video where the
fuck is it? Which way you going, Billy? They have
this video here called Summer Hoops. This is so accurately
what like Surrey feels like all right, I don't want
to get fucking whatever, but like these guys just playing

(39:27):
ball and it's the Doomsday Doom soundtrack. It's fucking awesome.
But like this is very and obviously I'm not saying
Brandon doesn't have courts and going outside, whoh Like people
are really retarded. They'll think I'm like, oh, we have.
It's like that's certain like summer cadence, that summer vibe
where you go outside it's kind of hot, you know,
the Aunties are walking around all in Surrey. There's so

(39:49):
much to do and there's just this like feeling in
the air of like this magic waiting to happen, especially
in the summer. Yeat and then you add the weed.
You add the beaches, Like Toronto does not have enviable beaches.
We do, Okay, Kitsilano has really amazing beaches. Like again,
lifestyle and Suria is just so much. They're just so

(40:11):
much higher of a ceiling of what's accessible by lifestyle.
In winter, fucking crazy peaks to go snowboarding, to go skiing,
like like Olympic level, right, we had the Olympics here.
Then in the summer, like summer level beaches, yes, they're
not like Hawaii tropical level, but they're still amazing. But again,
I don't know. I just find it really perplexing that

(40:33):
like we just haven't had that like on on literally
like a short situation. And maybe there's some musicians and
singer guys that are missing, but like I think it's
literally like Jenny Randy Palm me fuck, I might be
missing on a few other people are the only those
are the only people I think that really can like
stick out in my head as like true people, because

(40:54):
like Channie is doing a full time Palms doing a
full time I'm doing it full time only Rans is
like doing it like forty percent of the time, Like
he's getting close. He's inching up towards potentially making a
full time thing, right, you got to make that bread still.
But I do think that in the Surrey Verus Brampton
or Brampton beats us on like the Brampton and just
that area in general beats us on the type of

(41:16):
people that it can produce and has produced. Like bromlea
Road is like more meme worthy than like Surrey TV.
Like they have a lot more like the craziest thing
to happen and starting in the last few years that
motorcycle fucking hitting the lamp post and being stuck at
the top. Other than that, I don't think anything has
like like I don't think Surrey has something that's very
like like people wise that we're just producing, but like

(41:40):
lifestyle scenery, like the actual place whatever. Yeah, we have Brampton,
be easy. Surrey is just a fucking like an enigma.
It's fucking much older. It just has a lot more history,
Like you have the the nitjer thing happened here. You
have like a lot of different things have happened to
co creates. Surrea's like ground zero for like the dicy

(42:03):
population abroad, and Brampton doesn't have that. But Brampton weirdly
has had all this talent, has had all this stuff.
I'm I'm really hoping that somebody's listening to this and going, yo,
I will fucking like get into this shit, Like I
want to go deep. I want to be the dude
that's like so obsessive over cameras and so obsessive over

(42:25):
lenses and you know, fucking shots and LUTs and you know,
color grading and all this stuff. Like it just seems
to me that most people and listen if you're not
on the list. Like I'm thinking myhead of some people,
I'm like, I know you guys are trying to produce stuff,
but you guys are just like you guys haven't done
shit yet. Like you guys are still trying. And again
I look at some of your stuff and I'm like, yeah,

(42:47):
you're doing this because you want to get put on
for yourself.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
You know.

Speaker 1 (42:53):
This is something that like anyone who's been following me
since twenty seventeen, the POD's been on and off because
of the time that just quit. I'm like, I was
never thirsty to fucking be out there in CONTROVERSI like,
that's never been my mode. This is just naturally who
I am. I'm a controversial, contrary and type of character.
And because I'm a contrary and I say controversial shit,
but I've never been that guy just all dying where
I'm just like, yo, I'm just gonna fuck with people

(43:13):
and whatever just because I want bitches, just because i
want money, just because i want fame, Like that's never
been me. Like I'm very purist. I'm such a purist
when it comes to this shit. Like even when I
talked to Raff's brother about music and stuff. They're like, Yo,
a contract. I'm gona fuck the contracts, bro, Like, let's
just make some dope shit, Like you guys are already
counting your chicken and shit and single one hasn't even
hatched yet. And that's the type of vibe that I

(43:36):
am on, where it's like people out here do not
make art for the sake of making art. They don't
do creativity for the sake of making creativity. And I
don't fucking understand why. Like we have all the again,
if you're in Surrey, like, I'll give you, I'll give
you adding to a story.

Speaker 2 (43:53):
Right.

Speaker 1 (43:53):
One of my buddies from high school, right, his parents
thought like, Yo, we're gonna go to Saskatchewan. We're gonna
make a bunch of bread, and then we're gonna come
back to Surrey buy back into the market. They got
priced out, they left, they went to Saskatchewan, they got
priced the fuck out. They literally could not come back.
So which means that everyone who stays in Surrey, like
as time keeps going on and things keep getting more expensive,
and people are still in Surrey, like you are making

(44:14):
that bread some way somehow to continue being in Surrey
which means that like if you and again, I was
having conversations my cousin, right, he goes like, you were
able to take risks because you know you are you
your family already has a house, and I'm like, no,
I calculated in my head that I could take that
risk because of that. That wasn't something that was promised

(44:35):
to me. It wasn't like, yeah, you guys, I have
a house and like I could just fuck off now.
I's like no, like, okay, I have this security. Now
I can leap forward. And some people don't have that
security at all and they don't want to take the risk.
They want to do sure things. That's fine, but again,
how much do you believe in yourself for doing something right? Again,
it's not all about just making fucking making it in

(44:55):
like being a public figure. It's not that that's not
the only way to do it. Again, behind the scene
and stuff, which is why, like now circling back to
Dusty Loops, Like Dusty Loops is a behind the scenes
kind of character, Like he's not you could tell from
his online persona from like the he's not trying to
get camera time, he's not trying to be like yo yo, yo, yo, yo,
look at yo. Get this, get this bro yo, watch

(45:17):
this yo. And then no, he's not trying to do that.
He just is who he is and people find it
interesting enough to have him on the camera or have
him in front of the camera, which is why he's
a unique type of character. And this is what I'm
trying to say to people that, like, if you want
to create at a higher level, if you want like
you can't think of all the results. You just need

(45:38):
to do it for the sake of doing it. And
this maybe is kind of like a wake up call
to anyone that's from Surrey of like if you really
want to make it, if you want to do something,
you can, especially with time. Like, yes, if you're in
your thirties, it gets really hard to take risks, sorry Randy.
But if you're in your early twenties, like I technically
i'm twenty seven now. I started doing the creative when

(46:00):
I was eighteen, Like that's almost ten years in the making,
and now finally in this last year, I'm seeing like
a positive trajectory happen and whatever whatever, But like I
think that and this is what this This then also
lends itself into the anime right with the anime that
is about putting six on the map globally, and to

(46:23):
do that, we need to have six already doing things
that are putting us globally. Right, Like you get a
lily saying she's not really like flaunting sick ideology anyway
or whatever. Right, but like, yeah, whatever, say whatever you
want about Justin's show. Yeah, some episodes you think suck,
some of them are good, some of them whatever. But
like he doesn't shy away from the topic of Siki

(46:43):
and who he is, his roots, And I actually admire
that about him, because he could have easily made it
a fucking boondogs, fucking with the community, showing everything as
a joke and being like, I don't even believe in
this religion shit, right, easily could have done that, right,
Other people have used their own community, their own religion
as a butt of a joke, especially if you're like
a fucking Christian you believe in the false prophet. No
offense actually a kind of offense. But with guys like Rain,

(47:09):
guys like whoever, like, they don't sacrifice who they are
in their past for that, and so they become visibly
noticeable to the masses as like Yo, these are six
This is their fucking mo this is how they move.
And again I think that's there's a resurgence happening where people,
a lot more people are becoming sings. And I truly
believe in the bottom of my heart a lot of

(47:32):
people have a creative like urge in them, Okay, and
it doesn't have to be to do something in like,
like I know a home you mine in Abbosford, he welds,
and he's a very good welder. It's to me that
is a craft Okay, that's an art. So at that
level he's a very high level of art, a craftsman,
and it's a very high art. Okay, that in itself

(47:53):
is creative and whatever, whatever, And like sure he's not
gonna be like fucking I don't know, Like he's not
gonna be a streamer or something, and I think everyone
thinks streamer. But like there's some like graffiti artists, painters, writers, poets, singers, dancers,
like I don't fucking know, man, the list can go
on and on. But this is something that I wish

(48:15):
for my people. I wish that they fucking like really
understand this and they go with it all right, if
you're at the episode this long. That's what I'm gonna
say to you about the book. This is what I'm
thinking about doing. So there's we've already sold about three

(48:38):
hundred copies, so that means there's only two hundred left
that are in the first five hundred batch. And what
I want to do is I want to as a
thank you, once everything is sold, there's gonna be enough
bread I want to I want to do like a giveaway,
like I said, like a raffle system. So like if
you've got number, you know, two hundred and seventy six,
and we pick your number, We're gonna do like an

(49:00):
all expenses paid vacation to like Japan or some shit
like I want to do something like that as I
could give back to the community. So if you want
to be potentially and the thing is like depending on
how well this book does, right, So this is like
you get to see me talk about where the book is. Yes,
we've sold a certain amount of copies, but I'm trying
and we only have a certain amount in stock. But

(49:22):
the amount I want to sell in totality over the
next year, year and a half, two years is like
I want to sell like fifty thousand copies, okay, And
I want to sell fifty thousand copies so that A
I could give back to the community in that way
and then be the actually giving back to community, the
raffles system whatever that's b A is the anime. I

(49:43):
truly believe in my vision to do this anime. I
will fucking will it into being because I believe that
I can. And so I'm not saying to like buy
the book to support the anime. I'm just I'm just
kind of giving my thoughts, kind of like putting it
out there, putting it into the universe that like, I
want to sell like fifty thousand copies the book, and
I want to fucking make this anime, and I want

(50:03):
to usher in like a new realm of possibilities. And
I think that's what this whole episode can be characterized. Yes,
I'm gonna call it Surry versus Brampton, but I believe
that we can usher in a new era of like
Punjabi because we need to. Now you see the racism,
you see the hate that's spreading online. It's getting pretty

(50:24):
fucking intense, especially with that Henry No acting that happened
in the Victim Digwa I talked about it, like, first off,
I can't believe people call me racists, Like, uh, yes,
I've said this in the episode. It's overkilled to use
your kirpon a but to throw fists over some guy
fucking whatever, slurring his speech, how drunk he is, no
one knows, being like yo, you think you're a bad man,
you're a bad man, and being I am a bad man,

(50:45):
and fucking him up like dude, like, don't fuck with
random people on the street, man, Like that's just stupid.
And so yeah, obviously he did overkill. But and again
there's a nuance in the situation that dude did not
deserve to lose his life for being a little love
one hundred percent. The Digua guy did not need to
fucking murk this guy and create such an issue. But
now you look at like Elon Musk fucking tweeted about this.

(51:09):
That's just like Jesus Christ were fucking cooked.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
Man.

Speaker 1 (51:12):
The fact that Elon Musk said some shit, that's just
like beyond fucking retarded. Man. It's just like it's it's
almost like heart, it's it's unfathomable that like one of
the worldwide Twitter things is getting, so to combat this
is not going to be being more like a fucking

(51:34):
brain dead idiot doing shit like this, Like we need
to combat it by becoming what the gurus gave us
this like really swaggy people who have like King King
spiritual philosopher kingship in them to be unique. Like again,
I think Humble is like whatever, He's a bit of
a character, but like even look at the fact that,
like Humble is on like fucking brilliant idiots multiple times,

(51:57):
Like he, like Charlemagne, fucks with Humble the Poet. You know,
that's amazing. This is visibility. People are buying his book.
People are buying into Humble the Poet because of the
fact that he's made himself accessible. He's another story of
one of those guys from Surrey. He fucking Brampton and

(52:18):
Charlottage's buying his book. He's able to be on this podcast.
I think he's done like multiple multiple appearances, Like let
me just confirm. I'm pretty sure he's had like a
total like five appearances, So he's done. Okay, So he's
on Breakfast Club four times, which is fucking nuts. Right

(52:39):
before the pandemic during twenty twenty three years ago, and
then eleven months ago. He's four times on Breakfast Club,
which is like he was on Breakfast Club even when
they were still like you know, in the twenty ten,
in the twenty tens, late twenty tens, which is amazing.
Then he was on Billion Idiots three times. This is
the first episode unlearned. This is the second episode where

(53:01):
his his ex fiance or whatever was on. And then
