Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the Good Vibe Series.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
We wanted to bring you this series so that you
can hear firsthand from the amazing women that join us
at the Good Vibe retreat. A lot of you have
been interested in coming, and what better way to get
all the vibes and really hear the magic that we
make on these retreats than firsthand from the attendees.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
So let's get into it.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
I'm Morgan, and I live in Brooklyn, and I started
listening to the podcast right before Thanksgiving. I had a
like five hour train ride between New York and Washington,
d C. Where I was going to be celebrating Thanksgiving
with my family, and so I was kind of on
the hunt for a couple podcasts to listen to on
(00:49):
my trip, and somehow I came across Good Mom's Bad Choices,
And clearly that was destined because I I loved what
I heard.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
It was really interesting perspectives.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
I shared it with all my mom friends because I
don't have children myself, but I thought that just hearing
the way that they spoke so irreverently about motherhood and
about womanhood and being black women, and that experience was
really resonant for me. Even though I wasn't a mom,
and so I knew that for my friends who are
moms that it would be really resonant for them too.
(01:24):
And I've been on a little bit of a personal
growth and personal expansion journey over the past couple of
years and really trying to figure out, like what do
I actually want to do or be or give to
the world versus what has the conveyor built that I've
been on my entire life since I'm a little kid.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
I've go to this school, go.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
To the best college, go to the best companies, and
like work in this really specific capitalist, white supremacist, patriarchal
society kind of way, and like be on that race
pace and really asking myself, like, are those the things
that I actually want? Because I've been able to be
(02:06):
pretty successful in navigating those spaces, is that actually what
I want? Or am I just doing what I think
I'm supposed to be doing? And so as I was
having all of these thoughts, I was like, I really
want to be able to take some time to really
think about that and to like journal on.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
It and ask myself some of those questions.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
And when in listening to the podcast, I learned that
this retreat was happening, I thought what better place to
ask myself all those questions than with a bunch of
other women in Costa Rica, And so I'm so happy
that I bucked.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Since being here, it's been so fun.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Somebody called it like a grown woman's spring break, and
it has felt like that. We've laughed, we've cried, we've hugged,
we've talked, we've danced, and it's just been really special
to kind of be free in that way, particularly since,
at least for me in the state, as black women,
we're so there isn't a lot of space for us
(03:05):
to be soft or for us to cry, or for
us to be sad. We're often casked with being the
strong one and like keeping it moving, and I think
that this was a really nice pause and reset for
us to get away from that. I think that one
of the best experiences that I've had since being here
was they brought this fantastic photographer named Chachi to come
(03:28):
take photos, and all of us decided what better place
to take some beautiful photos in our beautiful naked bodies
in Costa Rica.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
And so.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Not only did we get to take these beautiful pictures
that we'll be able to have of ourselves forever, when
we're going to be when we all look incredibly beautiful,
but also feeling so confident and having the support of
all these other women around us as we were taking
these kind of vulnerable photos was so powerful and cool.
And to just be able to be free and to
be embracing of our bodies and to feel confident has
(04:04):
been so special, and I think I'm going to take
that with me as I go. So I'm really grateful
for this experience and for all the women that I've met,
and for the women who planned it.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
So thank you, thank you, thank you. How I love
our tribe.
Speaker 2 (04:19):

jungle so much. If you want to join us in
