(00:00):
I remember Mayor Tony Pattellis years agothey had a saying that Hoover's happening,
and I always like that, youknow, saying and it is happening.
I mean the development in Hoover isjust I mean blossoming, like you know
the azaleas at the Masters right now, it's just ongoing. Steve McClinton joins
us now Hoover City councilman had abig meeting last night and a number of

(00:20):
things on the agenda, but thebig one is the development of Fay.
I guess it's a stadium Trace phasetwo, correct, And this is going
to be a describe exactly where thatis in reference to like the Aldie shopping
center with walk Ons and further ondown towards the soccer fields and where is
all of this state and Trace Villageis now and between walk Ons and Big

(00:45):
Whiskey, there's a dead end backthere is where the road would go to
a golf Suite's okay, forming ourcenter, our surgical continuation of that.
Yes, all right, So lastnight what was the discussion about and was
it about money, development, roads, performing arts center? What was called
all that? All that? Sowe're not building a performing art center.

(01:08):
With this project, what we're doingis getting land developed, and that's where
the stickler was so right now goingforward has been continued to two more weeks
when the next meeting happens. Andwhat the mayor and his team wanted to
do was to have more information. But the mayor and his team have all
the information. They've been doing thisfor fourteen months, and that's why council
members took over the negotiations. There'salso some questions from the residents on all

(01:30):
of this, and I'm assuming therewere some residents last night representing that area
exactly what kind of questions came upfrom the residents in this A lot of
them said they didn't know what's goingon, and that's what typically happens at
city Hall. Most folks don't knowwhat goes on until they hear on the
news. That's normal. But therewe're about blasting sentiment to flooding and so
forth. And this developer, ifyou watch his video and listen to his

(01:53):
presentation, he addresses all those things. Was the developer there at the meeting?
Listener? Yes, broad Metro's CEOWill Cadition his team are there.
Okay, how did the conversation goand where do you think this is going
to end up? As far asthe development and everything that appears to be
what the council wants, the mayorwants different members of our council also wants

(02:15):
some different Where's the rub in thedifference? Well, the mayor and his
team they have a different proposal, whereas obviously a broad metro mister Cator's have
their proposal and where the council hascome in the majority of us at least
have found a happy medium. Andlast night we were hoping to have a
vote up or down, but itgot continued for the next meeting which will
be on the fifteenth next two mondyis from now and that's where it got.

(02:37):
It went back and forth on thenumbers and so forth, and on
how it would go forward. Nowthe numbers are very simple. There is
no money out of pocket for thecity to do this. This is all
tax and centers. Mister Cators hasto perform over fifteen years to make a
successful entity for him to get hismoney back. The only money that they
would pay out a pocket for thecity would be about two point seventy five

(02:57):
million for the plan that would holdthe our center and that doesn't even come
out of our pocket. That comesout of bonds we issued thirteen months ago.
Well, there was some discussion thatkind of hit the press that it
got a little testy. Oh yeah, he got testy. Comment was made
by council President John Lyta where hesaid to one of our constituents, David
Banister, at the podium that thingswere found out by the city now that

(03:20):
we didn't know about the developer then. And that's where he brought up his
pass from twenty twenty two being ana felony. He got dis barred back
in two thousand and two, paida fine and that was it. He
didn't go to jail, he didn'trape, didn't disbarred. Mister real Kate.
It's the CEO of broad Metro Okay, And so mister Lyda brought that
out and as to gasps in theroom, they thought that was kind of

(03:42):
a low blow. Again, youpay your price, you pay a fine,
you move on. He is obviouslyproven entity. He had helped built
him for you two different states. He just built the golf suites in Opealaika.
He wants to bring the same thinghere in Hoover and so I thought
was out out of line to dothat and unprofessional. John Lighter with that
statement, is he indicating that hewants to not do business with broad Metro

(04:04):
anymore From what mister Latta said lastnight, that would be correct. And
it seems like now the Mayor's officewants to have some kind of a litmus
test for all developers and all peopledo business to have some kind of a
back round check like that is duediligence done and vetting done normally in situations
like this digging into people's back Neverheard of a developer having to have that

(04:26):
kind of a backgrounding check, Butif they want to do it, I
think that what's good for the gooseis good for the gannor. Because the
mayor himself had a good faith agreementwith broad Metro. Broad Metro spent over
a million dollars on this good faithagreement on the promises of the mayor,
and the mayor backed out. Soif we're going to have the same standard
for employees and developers, which hadthe same standard for leted officials. So

(04:46):
the uh situation right now is itthat been I kind of smoothed out and
they're going to continue with him oris that still open for discussion. Well,
because we have a continuance which meansthat they are, the Council will
allow Cadish and Broad Metro to comeback, have another vote taught with the
public answer some more questions. That'sup to mister Cadish and Broad Metro the

(05:08):
offers there to continue it. Soit's not dead, but it can be
if he wants to pull out.But if he wants to continue, we'll
have another vote official up or downon March or April fifteenth, the next
meeting. All right, No contractssigned between the city, the Mayor and
Cadish, No, this is right. Letters of intenth though were certainly there
that back and forth. Yes,obviously information has gone back and forth at

(05:30):
the Mayor's office in Broad Metro andthe Council. We're not involved in everyone,
but the ones that we knew aboutI thought were very favorable. But
I think going forward, I'm surewe've got to let probably twenty four to
forty hours of people to kind ofcool off and then let cooler Hill's head
prevail and go from there. Allright, very good, Steve, thank
you for the update, and Iappreciate you. Steve McClinton and Hoover City countsmen
