(00:21):
five hundred. Here at fifty fiveKRCD Talk Station, Welcome back. You're
in the garden with Ron Wilson.Let's kick it off with our first of
our around the star studded show.Today. We got all kinds of special
guests. It's time for a bifurcationof segments. That's why it's time for
weather. It's the weather and inthe tree, starring our hobby meteorologist and

(00:42):
registered consulting Arborus website arbordoctor dot com. Ladies and gentlemen, the arbor doctor
himself, mister Ron Rothus, Goodmorning, sir, Good morning. See
you. You were surprised that therewas no one cheering, right, yeah,
no cheering, no laughing. I'mstill trying to figure out the computer.
There's no there's no fans in heretoday, so it's empty, just

(01:03):
you and me going the same placeas Buggie Joe is going. Wherever he's
going, he's headed there. Andhis comment to me was, I hope
I get there in time. Makesure I get there in time for the
start of the game. So Idon't know where he's headed, but he
was focused. Yeah, Well, there's only one place to head today,
I guess, unless you're going tobe in front of your television, which

(01:26):
is where I will be. Oh, I will be too. Where's the
other place to be headed? Oh? Okay, Yeah, I don't think
he's head Yeah, I don't thinkhe's headed that direction. I'm not sure
where he's had it, but doesn'tit doesn't be anyway, we quite know
where he's going. You know, there's migrations, some of those insects,
and you know they they migrate downto Mexico or wherever. And you know,

(01:47):
Bugie Joe. You never know, even when Joe's like in the building,
you don't know where he's going. You don't, specially verbally you said
that I did not, and younever know he might be listening. So
that's a good thing you'll find outhere in a little while. Anyway,
talking about talking about Ron Roth ishis website at arbordoctor dot com. Did
you have a great Thanksgiving sir?Yeah, it started out kind of strange,

(02:13):
but it got better. Are yougonna leave us hanging? What's that?
Are you gonna leave us hanging? No? My mom moved to assisted
living at Twin Towers Retirement Community, and I spent the whole days trying to
figure out what if I could eatlunch with her somewhere up there, and

(02:34):
nobody knew the answer. It's likeyou talk to ten different people, you
get ten different answers. It wasvery frustrating. So I finally get up
there because I was told by somebodythat I could in the assisted living area
that she was at. So Iwent up there and they look at me
and said, no, you can'tdo that. You have to go downstairs
to the main dining room. I'mlike, okay, So I take her
in her wheelchair down to the maindining room and we get down there and

(02:57):
they look at me and they say, well, we don't we're not accepting
guests here today. You have togo back upstairs. Like really, So
at that point, I'm extremely frustrated. And we finally run across the security
guard that we'd done for a while, and he looked at me and he's
like, that's ridiculous. So wego back up to the assister living area

(03:19):
and he looks at the people. He says, you let him eat with
his mother. I said, so, if anyone argues with me, have
him come to me. So Ifinally got to eat with her, but
it was like, you've got tobe kidding me, really, cops.
But then after I spent several hourswith my mother, it was fine after
that, and then later in theevening, I'm like, you know,
I really need a more relaxing Thanksgiving. So I stopped at the Cracker Barrel

(03:45):
and they had me sit right infront of the fireplace, and it was
absolutely wonderful. So it ended well. So you chilled at the cracker barrel,
a little fire crackling in the background, exactly the way Thanksgiving should be,
And next thing you knew, youwoke up and they were closing.
Exactly next thing I woke up andI was supposed to be calling you for

(04:09):
the Thanksgiving special on Saturday. Yes, there you go talking with Ron Roth
is The arbor Doctor's website is arbordoctordot com. So you know, when
you show up to the Thanksgiving tableand all that stuff's all spread out everywhere's
the what's the one thing you reallyand turkey doesn't count in ham doesn't count.
What do you focus on? Whatam I focusing? You know that?

(04:31):
You know? I really like cranberrysauce. It's strange because I never
liked it as a child, Butit's one of those I guess acquired tastes,
or maybe your taste buds change asyou get older, they change,
But I really like the cranberry sauce. So yeah, Now are you the
kind of the jello cranberry sauce ordo you like the ones with the real

(04:53):
cranberries in it? I like itwith real cranberry. Yeah, yes,
yeah, I like that too.Let's face it, it's plant related.
So well, yeah, it's gotto be makes sense right, sure?
Absolutely? Talking with Ron rothis Thearbordoctor. Arbordoctor dot com is his website.
You know, I have to getserious here for a second. Looking out
there. We got some pretty goodrainfall in our area this past week.
Are you happy with that? I'mhappy with it, but we're still well

(05:17):
blown normal for the month of November. I mean, that was the only
rain that we had for the month, and you know, this time of
the year, you know as muchevaporation, the temperatures are cooler. So
yeah, it's it's nice, butit didn't rewet the entire soil profile.
Right, It's still dry deeper down. I mean, if people had been

(05:38):
watering like we've been saying and thenwe got that rain on top of it,
you're probably in pretty good shape. But if not, I think the
soil profile is still dry. Youknow, a lot of the streams are
still running low. Southeast third ofKentucky is in severe drought route right now
in parts of southern Indiana and partsof other parts of Kentucky and moderate drought.

(06:02):
There's several areas of Ohio, NortheastOhio, southeast Ohio that are that
are in drought right now, andother parts are normally dry. So it's
still dry. In the southeast isdry. Gary Bauchman Land is like the
Sahara Desert and that extends up towardthe Carolinas. So a lot of areas
are really really still dry. Nowwe're looking at next week. We're actually

(06:27):
looking at highs in the upper thirtiesand then into the forties, pretty cold
at nighttime. We can still keepwatering, right I mean, I'm telling
folks to keep going right up tillthe holiday season as best you can.
Yeah, I usually tell people throughThanksgiving. And if people have been regularly
watering up to this point, likeI said before, the soil profile I
think would be pretty moist. Idon't know that much more watering is really

(06:50):
necessary on a plant that's out inthe open now. If it's under an
overhang or something near the house, you know, probably have the water occasionally
all winter. But if you've beenwatering up until now, I think you're
probably in pretty good shape. Atleast in Cincinnati. Like I said,
other areas are even drier than we'vebeen. But if you haven't been watering,

(07:13):
it's still dry out there, andso watering is still important. I'm
looking at trees. I'm getting callsin trees that evergreens that obviously are drought
stressed, and and you know, some of it's leftovers from last year just
being exacerbated by this year. Someof it's you know, from this year,
but it's and then you have theeffects of the cold sat But remember

(07:35):
what we said last year, thatcold snap that we had around Christmas.
I think the damage from that wasmade worse because the trees had been so
dry in the fall. So rightnow we're kind of setting ourselves up.
If your plants are dried out now, they're that much more vulnerable to wacky
weather that we might get over thewinter. And you know how the weather's

(07:58):
been around the country the US,I don't know a decade or two.
It's pretty wacky. So you betterprepare for the wacky and if it doesn't
happen, at least you were readyfor it. You heard him right there,
Ron Roth and said prepare for thewacky. Yeah, which is the
same thing that you do when BuggyJoe is going to be on right,
prepare for the wacky of Buggy JoeBoggs as well. Yeah. Again,

(08:20):
you know a newly plan at Evergreensfor this fall. If you you know,
fill up a five gama bucket.Want to dump that, right,
and they're not going to complain,There's no doubt about that. So make
sure they've got good moition in theground. Uh Ron Roth is we want
to say thank you in all sincerityfor all that you do. You spend
a lot of time on our show. You share a lot of great information
with us, both with the weatherand tree care, and we appreciate that

(08:43):
so much, and we are thankfulfor you being a part of our show,
and we appreciate you spending time withus this morning. We hope you
have a great Thanksgiving week end.And those messages of appreciation are certainly go
two ways, because I really appreciatethe opportunity to be on your show.
So it's amazing. I was thinkingthis morning how many years I've been listening

(09:03):
to the radio gardening shows. Ithink I started listening to Denny McEwan from
practically his first show, Harry SelmanSulvan too many many years ago, and
it's been you know, a respectablepart of my education over the years is
those of you who do the gardeningshows on the radio, because you have
such great information. So I verymuch appreciate you too. Thank you,

(09:24):
and you add to that. Nowyou got one last thing, and you
know what I'm going to ask you. Christmas is three weeks away. What's
your early prediction. It's looking unlikelythat we're going to have a white Christmas
this year. I'm looking unlikely fora good part of the country. But
then it turns cold and colder andsnowier after that as we get into January.

(09:46):
You heard it, Ron rothas goto his website. It's arbordoctor dot
