We'll jump on and join Fox News. Jonathan Savage on the Legacy Retirement Group
dot com phone line. Jonathan,We woke up this morning to news that
the president of Iran has died inan apparent helicopter crash. It also included
the country's foreign minister and some otherofficials. Bad weather is being blamed.
What's the latest, Yeah, PresidentTraisi's helicopter. President Abraham Risio was on

(00:22):
a helicopter, one of three, traveling from the northwest of Iran when it
went down in a mountainous area inthick fog and heavy rain. His foreign
minister, other officials, crew, and security personnel are all dead. In
the meantime, there will be apresidential election in fifty days. Before then,

(00:44):
the country's vice president, Mohammad Mokbar, is the interim president, but
of course, continuing to rule thecountry above the presidency level is around Supreme
Leader the Ayatola Ali Khamenei, whosays that the work of the country will
not be interrupted by the death ofthe president. What could the consequences be?
As we know, it's been verysensitive in the Middle East. I

(01:04):
mean we're coming about a month agois when we had the unprecedented drone and
missile attack from Iran on Israel, not using any surrogates, just country to
country there, and so it's beenvery very delicate there. What are the
consequences of this death? Well,President Raci was seen as one of the
weakest presidents that Iran has had forsome time. He was seen by many

(01:26):
as a stooge of the Supreme Leaderonly in perlace because of an engineered election
on his behalf. He had unyieldingloyalty to Ayatola Ali Kameni and was seen
as a possible future Supreme Leader himself. But that closeness is because the Ayatola
is the one of the hell designingIran strategy, approving its regional political outlook,

(01:52):
and as a result of that,I think that what you can expect
from Iran is very much business asusual. They'll continue to support proxies such
as Hamas Hisbollah and the hoo Theise. They will continue to be a thorn
in the side of Israel, andthat is the image that Iran will certainly
want to portray in the coming week'sContinuity and stability Jonathan, has there been

(02:14):
any indication, any suggestion, orany evidence that the crash was anything other
than an accident. Yeah, Sofar this has been purely put down to
weather conditions, although one Iranian foreignminister has pointed his finger at the United
States, not directly, but becausehe says US sanctions have had such an
impact on Iran in terms of beingable to buy new aircraft, be able

(02:38):
to get parted to maintain existing aircraft, and says that has put the lives
of Iranians in danger. But ofcourse, Iran's main adversary in the region
is Israel, and of course Israelwill be looking to see whether Iran points
the finger at it. Now thereare officials in Israel who are privately briefing

(02:59):
the media that Israel had no handin the Iranian president's death, and so
far Iran has not suggested that either
