Speaker 1 (00:00):
Man, we have so many people in here. This is great.
Congressman Jim Jordan should be joining the party any minute.
Congressman Troy Balterson is already in studio with us. We
got Maga McCoy, who is who is joining us today
as well. He just kind of pops in when someone
of note or merit is in studio. When it's Chuck
and I, He's like, yeah, I'm busy, I can't what's.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Wrong with that?

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Nothing, just pointing it out in case people are like, oh,
there he is again while Troy is in. So, I
think the last time you were in was right after
the election. If I am not mistaken, I might be true.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
It might be true.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Yes, So, And while we're waiting real quick, man, this
is really what's going on with the Jackets. I mean,
it is like it's so deflating. And McCoy, you and
I text a lot. We we go to the games
that we're there at the same time a lot. We
always talk Jackets, both diehard Jackets fans, and it is just.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Well, I will tell you right now, they won twenty
five games all of last year. We're at twenty six
wins and we're not even out of you know, we
just started February. There's still three more months of the
season to go. They've had a great year now, whether
they make the playoffs or not, nobody expected that this year.
Nobody expected them to be even out of the bottom five,

(01:21):
and here we are in a playoff position today along
with Detroit, by the way, which would be amazing. If
we hit that stadium series game on March first, and
we're both in that position, that would be incredible.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
That would be fun.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
But we're definitely facing some headwinds. Marchenko out now with
for six broken jaw offul weird play. Mattaitchuk tried to
shovel a puck down the ice and it wayward off
into the bench and hit Marchenko and broke his jaw.
It doesn't happen. Zach got injured a little bit last night,
but I think he'll be okay. He'll be back in

(01:56):
Dante Fabreu to Dante Fabreau. I don't know what that is. Yeah,
maybe they're saying a week, so that's probably right. But look,
this is this is where that that depth that we
have really comes to fruition for us, and if we
can hang on, you get Moon Jenner back here in

(02:17):
after the Poor Nations Tournament. We've got three more games
before that, and then we got to ten days off.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
I say we like it's me.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Like, it's me, but uh, that's how invested we are
in this this team.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yeah, definitely, Oh yeah, yeah we are. We sit in
the same section and uh, you know, we text during
the games, and then the next morning it's like.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Man, yeah, we text during the games and he's like
three rows down from me.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Oh and then when we're watching too, like I'll be
like you turn around and like this, oh, we'll stand up,
you know. You know, we're like, well, here's the thing.
They're headed in the right direction.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yes, this team is going to be a serious playoff team.
If not this year, which probably not. I just don't
want to get expectations up, but next year, especially with
the cap space we have.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
This is good. Is that space good?

Speaker 2 (03:16):
O Ye? They've got tens of million.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Millions looking good. It's looking really good. Not quite what
Congressman Jordan's pulling down, but in oversight money, in oversight money,
he's joining us now. Congressman, welcome to the party. I
got a whole studio full of people. Yeah, we're talking
blue jacket. Yeah, you know, Troy Balderson is here, he's

(03:42):
been in studio. Yeah yeah, uh. And then Maga McCoy
who is here also in the studio with us, and
Chuck Douglas who's with me as well obviously normally, and
so here you are joining us as well.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
We were just talking jackets and so on, and we're
having we're having a little tin cup. I don't know
if you've heard of that. Not the movie. We weren't
watching that. It's it's bourbon. We're having a little bit
of burd too. So not Troy, not Troy.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah, yeah, was that like drinking on the job. That's
at least you're at work and I were trying to
work remote like all these government people.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Exactly.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
That's good.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Yeah. Now we're out in the open as a matter
of fact. Uh, you know, McCoy is pretty high up
here in the building. So I'm getting away with it.
What can I say? I you know, it's a special
occasion like you know these days. That ended why, that's
really what we're you.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Know, Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
By the way, I've only actually been to one Blue
Jackets game, but it was amazing because you know, there's something.
You guys know this because you got all the games,
but you watch hockey on TV. Okay, great, it's fine
that you know, but it's completely different experience. Uh, when
you're in the arena and you can you can see
the play unfold, you see what just like I was

(04:57):
just like fasting because I've never really been to a
special hockey and with the game, I think, man, this
is so different than what you see on television.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah, it really is. There's no there's It is so different.
And yeah, let's face it, when you're watching TV, you
are and they get they do a great job, but
you are handcuffed to what they want to show you. Clearly,
when you're sitting there, you get to look at whatever
you want to watch.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
You know, fastest game in the world.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah, it really is fastest two hundred feet in the world.
Yeah for sure.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Well you see the plays unfold as they move down
down the ice, and it just it's just different than
what you kind of experienced watching watching it on TV.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yeah, there's no question, no question about that. Earlier, Congressman,
we were I had this was last hour. I had
a friend of mine who owns a local business, Flowerrama.
His name is Steve. He joined us and the tariffs
are something clearly we know the whole situation with everything
going right. Now, here's the beautiful part of this. We

(05:56):
were talking to him about where is this headed. Is
this going to affect for instance, him being flower Rama
and clearly it's flowers what he does his business, and
he was saying, yeah, it's absolutely going to affect me.
They do get some stuff from Canada, and he was
saying the twenty five percent or whatever. He's saying, I'm
not going to pass that on to the people that
are going to be shopping or utilizing us. As we

(06:19):
know Valentine's Day is his super Bowl which is coming up.
And he said, no, I'm not going to pass that on.
That's something that I'm going to deal with. I'm not
changing any of the prices and so on. And this
was something he was talking about long money or just
looking at it in long term and knowing how well
this is going to end up benefiting us, knowing that
President Trump has the best interest of the United States,

(06:42):
and that we got to stop the fen mall that's
coming in and so on. Then we just see just
as like the top of the out Yeah, and did
you I'm sure you saw this that now Canada has
come to a thirty day pause, right basically, yeah, yeah,
So it's amazing, you know, it's it's funny. Trump is
right again. President Trump is right, and he's now look,

(07:03):
I know it's thirty days with you know, President Scheinbaum.
We saw with Mexico earlier in the day. Now this
is happening with Canada. What did you say, Clark, there's
like ten thousand they were, Yeah, ten thousand personnel are
going to be at the at the at our northern
border now yeaheah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah, No, this is this is President Trump in the
art of the deal. This is him negotiating. It's something
that he's probably better at than anyone. Remember what happened
eight years ago when he did our several years ago
in his first administration, when he did the same thing
with Mexico. He said, you know, we want you to
have these migrants way to Mexico while we evaluate their
asylum claim in Mexico. Initially said no, no, no, we don't

(07:40):
want to do that. He says, no, no, I'm serious.
We really want you to do this, and then we
don't think we'll do it. He says, do you want teriffs,
and then shazam, they're like, oh, okay, yeah, we'll do it.
I think the same kind of dynamic is in play
today with both countries. Both are neighbors, and that's a
good thing. And it's not like President Trump didn't tell
us he was going to do this. He campaigned on it,
and seventy seven million Americans said, yes, we want the

(08:02):
border secure. We're tired of fentanyl disrupting our communities, doing
devastating things to our families. We want that to stop.
And he's saying I'm going to go about the way
I know and try to get this stuff to stop.
And it looks like he's making real progress today.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Yeah, did you, uh, McCoy, were you telling me you
had a oh you were going to ask Himbout about
the bourbon?

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Sorry, yeah, that's okay, that's all right. It wasn't a
serious question whatsoever. But he is my congressman, so I
feel so you're you're my guy now, So it's yeah.
So uh And if you get this right, and there
really is only one wrong answer, you get one of
these new Maga McCoy bumper stickers, and they're actually really

(08:45):
nice anyway, so your beverye beverage of choice.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
We're watching the Big Game.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
We're watching the Big Game today. Only wrong answer is
bud Light.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Yeah, I like, uh, I like uh Sam Adams or
blue Blue Moon. IM like, I'm just a regular country boy.
I don't I just drink beer with beer, Yeah, with
the western Ohio country boy. So yeah, with the Blue Moon?

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Do you put an orange slice in it?

Speaker 3 (09:13):
I don't like that the restaurants and then I just
I just kind of eat the orange and then I
just drink the beer.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
But by the way, s though, and that's good for it.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Yeah, exactly. Well you guys, what do you you have,
like fancy drinks for the Super Bowl? You got like
what do you you said bourbon or what do you
what do you what do you guys doing in the
Super Bowl? We just we're just beer.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
And so I'll be in Las Vegas, Congressman. I'm leaving Saturday,
so I'll be there for the game, and We're going
to be in one of the ballrooms in one of
the casino resorts there. And whatever they're offering that's complimentary
is what I'll be.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Whatever. Free.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Yeah, if they go, oh this is free, this is free,
but you have to pay for that. I'll go I'll
have this. How's that?

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah. Other than that, Yeah, I'm an espresso Look. I
people make fun of me. They're like, oh my, really
you like espresso Martini's really, But I like the burst
of of the you know, the espresso in that, and
that's a that for me is one of those that
I like. You can it pretty much works most of
the time during the day, you know, And and so.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Yeah, I'll do a McKellen twelve maybe fifteen if I
feel good.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Yeah, okay, all right, that's the expensive the very expensive one.
Oh Chuck, Uh, yeah, you've been he's been. Uh, you've
been so quiet. I was like, oh, they want to
get in a way of all the important talk. Oh Chris,
where what are you gonna be?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Because I know you you're having You're having a little
tin cup today. So that's because I'm here. Yeah. But
but on Sunday, Nope, it'll be nothing but kids in
kool aid. Oh okay, Oh he did kool aiding quotes.
I will to say that, you don't know. I did not.
I'm just happy that GUACAMOLEI is going to be available

(11:06):
on some of that. Yeah, So anyway, will you be U?
Will you be you guys, you'll be You're going back tomorrow, Troy,
you were saying you're back. You gotta fly back in
tomorrow and then will you guys be done this week
or does it depend on like what kind of things that.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Now, I'll come home for the weekend, help my mom.
I mean some to a Friday and then a fly
back Monday. So a lot of people stay there for
the weekend.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Okay, yeah, will that be you? Congressman, will you be
back in Ohio?

Speaker 3 (11:37):
No, No, we're we're actually driving into DC right now.
We drove down the day and then we'll be here
all week and we will probably stay the weekend because
it's a short weekend. So yeah, we're we're going to
be in town working, all right.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
I gotta ask final one. This is a little bit
more important. But daylight saving time, so we are getting
ready to spring forward, which means we lose an hour.
So this has been something that's you can I can
hear it in his voice. I've hand you on. Congressman,
You're like, yeah, I don't really want to talk about this,
but the bipartisan support is there, right.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
I don't know. I mean I go back and something
with brad Ones Day, like I kind of like in
the summer, I like it when it stays daylight until
you know, nine o'clock at night. My favorite time of
the year in Ohio is between Memorial Day and fourth
of July. I think Ohio is beautiful that time of year.
So I like, I like a lot of daylight in

(12:30):
those those hours. So that's that's kind of where I'm at.
But I could, I could. It's not at the top
of my list of things to be worried about. Help
make it that way.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Yeah, true, tariffs, Mariff, we need to talk about daylight
saving time because there are a lot of people. Great answer, Jim. Yeah,
but but Troy, you were saying, You're like, look, I
think we might have this might get to the floor maybe,
I mean some day.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
I mean, it's just there's bipartison support there for it.
But yeah, we'll we'll say, I mean, look, Jim and
I are going to tell you the same thing. It's
whatever President Trump wants done, that's what we're going to do.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
He called Warren Davidson did the best analogy.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
About a month ago. I'm satting with Warren when we're
all doing our conference and I'm sitting there, and Warren said, Troy,
the coach called to play.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
That's Trump. Miller executes the play.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
He's the quarterback, and he gets it down this and
then Congress runs the rest way through. So whatever President
Trump wants to get done, he's the coach.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
I could see where he might not be focusing on this.
He probably doesn't care. The guy sleeps two weeks in September.
Have you watched him the energizer buddies in Washington, DC,
going oh my god, love that. I can't. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Yeah, more and more done and more done in fourteen
days and Biden did I think this was the speaker
said the day, more done in fourteen days, and Biden
did four years. And I think that's I think that's
about right. The president's pace and intensity is just unbelievable.
I think the country appreciates that.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
It has been fascinating watching already the things that he
is able to accomplish. And a lot of I like that. Yeah,
there's a lot of I told you sos already that
are being handed out. But Legacy wants to spin it
some other different way and so on. But they're not
going to get to follow through and go see, we
told you so, because I'm telling you these things are

(14:16):
going to get turned around that anything that they think
they're going to be able to lean on is going
to get turned around.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Here.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
This is fantastic watching this.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Yeah, doing doing what he said he was going to do.
Imagine Adam elected official doing what he told the voters
he was going to do. That's that's I think that
what the country so appreciate.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Pretty cool. Congressman Jim Jordan, thanks for jumping on with us.
Appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
See you man a man
