into Florida State that played that huge match up and
didn't know what Trevor Lawrence was going to be like
on the road. Well, I know what he's like on
the road. I understand the kid has ice water in
his veins. I think this is one of those one
of those games where Dabbo he's like he's taking the
pulse of his team and he's making sure that they're

ready going forward. There's no there's no fall off in
this game for them. I think I think they cover
and um, the over is definitely in play. You know.
The one the one thing with Clemson over the years,
at least for betting purposes, guys that will take the

have have had over inflated lines and they struggled as

road favorites. Now this isn't this isn't a road a
road game. Um, but you know they're they're twenty point favorites.
Right now, just for the record to in ten against
the spread as a c C chalk of twenty or more.

trends out the window right now. Clemson, that's you're just
done on another level and what years ago doesn't matter.

has played outside of their home stadium ten and one
against the spread last seven games this year, they have
not failed to cover their six oh and one against
the spread. So this is a team that's not only winning,

to underdogs today. Rginia Tech is looking to become Bowl eligible.
Got a lucky win against Virginia last week. Somehow, some
way they won that matchup. Didn't deserve to win that ballgame.
But I'm taking the better defense here with the Thundering Herd.

the money line as well. Give me Marshal in the
upset over Virginia Tech. And then I like you a
B against Middle Tennessee State. Both teams played last week.
Middle Tennessee State dominated to three, But you a B.

an NFL audition for players like Ryan Ryan Finley and
that physical offensive line of NC State. I know it's
a lot of points for a game that has no meaning,
but East Carolina just got fumped by Cincinnati fifty six
to six. I don't think there's any heart left these
kids all take NC State and one of my best bets.

I'd love to get the everybody else's opinion, and I
know we'll segue into it, but I like Texas. I
think Texas is a live dog, and I think they
have a shot upset Oklahoma. Love Kyler Murray, but you
know Texas. Texas is a tup to nine and a
half right now. I would take those that there's people saying,
just keep going after throttle. As a player, and you've

been in the situation playing at San Diego State when
b y U was the guy. You know, they were
the big boy on the block. You went in there,
you went into provo, you went toe to toe with
those type of opponents. As a player, what's the mindset
when you go into a matchup, especially as an underdog,
knowing that you defeated this team earlier in the year
by three points. I like Texas is in this game

because it means more to them. Uh like they Oklahoma
if they're thinking about playoffs, moving on other stuff. For Texas,
this game is big for them, like this, this this
is the biggest game to the year for them thus far.
So I feel like Texas definitely definitely will cover. And

this is one of those games mentally mentally, when you
are where you are as a player, when you were
talking about coming into games like that. It's so easy
for a coach to get his team focused. Were underdogs.
We beat this team already, it was it was a
great game, we made the plays to win, and now

we're under You can sell this to your team. It's
easier to sell this. It's easier for Herman to sell
this to to Texas um than than than than to
than to get Oklahoma up and ready to play a
team that that beat them already, but we're favored. It

lot of these rivalry games they're not really rivals, you

dominates Auburn, Ohio stayed for the most part dominants Michigan,

point game the year before, five point game here before
that seven point game, uh, five point game. Uh you
have we have to go all the way back to
two thousand and thirteen to get a differential of double
digits between these two teams. I'm getting Tom Herman, who's
twelve and one against the spread, is an underdog in
his career, going back to those Houston games against Florida

State and everybody winning the ball games. I mean at
twelve and one night and four outright, all the pressure
on the world on Oklahoma. Texas playing with house money

for Texas and Tom Herman, this is a huge and
this is a crossroads moment. You know, if we've been saying,

rich winning there the Big twelve, but against Oklahoma, and yeah, exactly,

it's beating Oklahoma ry on top well and Texas size
cherry on top. I saw. I think they would be
the first. They would be the first Texas team to
beat Oklahoma twice in a season since that nineteen o three. Yeah,
I was gonna say early nineteen except it's kind of

time they played him two times in this season since
nineteen o three. And that's like saying Pittsburgh has never
lost the Clemson in the history of college football because
they played twice and Matt Canada was the o C.
And listen, for Texas, you can't know, you can't try it,

both of them, for Oklahoma to get revenge go to
the playoff, or for Texas to win and to do

it to beat Oklahoma. Just I just wish it wasn't

but I don't have a lot of confidence in Willis.

this year. When I think of Marshall historically, I think
a Chad Pennington, Byron left Wine, rackem Kato. That's another

haven't had that quarterback play this year. I thought it
would be Alex Thompson, the Wagner transfer, heard a lot
of good things from scouts about him. Didn't happen. But defensively,

Ohio State. You know which Virginia Tech shows up. How
much does it matter? I'll throw this to Marshall. I
know it's hard for you to play psychiatrist here, but
for a Virginia Tech team that you know wants to
win the Coastal. But now is five and six need
to get to a bowl game. I know there's a
streak at stake, but how much do the kids want

that additional game? Do you think you want it? And
and you want to you want your kids to get
to a Bowl game. You need that six win. But
I'm with you, guys, and what show has been able
to do? Um? Virginia Tech just just they don't look
the same. They are missing key components. And when there

are special teams like that was that was a team
that okay offensively, a good defensive, special teams, they were
always special. It was like that you knew you were
gonna get something. Yeah, but but this gave me as
most games come down to controlling the line of scrimmage.
And when you look at Marshall defensively, they're fit, they're fifth.

all the owners on Virginia Tech to try to throw
the football, which they they they've had, they've had trouble
with all year. So I like Marshall in this game
as well. Listen, Virginia Tech costs me a lot of

People want to hear about the win. I don't like

The one thing I'll just bring up about this game
is how they won last week. Like they were down
and out with a minute left, they were down thirty
Willis threw the ball up somehow, some way, they gave
up that big play. They get the fumble in the

end zone, they fall on it, and then Bryce Perkins
really was leading the team and fumbled the football. And
credit uh, you know that defense for making plays, but
they stole one. Now it's like, we got this, you know,
from an emotional standpoint, we didn't play our best, but
we got it. And and they're going in a little
fat And that's the only reason why I like Marshall here.

That's what I'd be selling my team. I would be
selling my team on that. Guys. We found a way
to win a game when we were not playing our best.
Just imagine if we play our best, you you go
out and play so free when you still one like that,
the next week you go out and you play free.
You just have to make sure you don't make those

same mistakes. Now, if you make those same mistakes, you're like,
oh boy, can we get away with this one? But
I just have a funny feeling that Marsha's gonna come
out and dominate this ball game because of what you said.

these teams, they've they've not one, They've not won many

out of the office. I walk in. I sit down
with r. C Um Marsha Wood. He's like, I say, coach,
you know, I wonder if the running back. He's like, Marshall.
He's like, listen, if you come here, you're you're gonna
play as a freshman in our secondary and as a sophomore,
you're gonna start at corner for us. That that's how

running back. He said, well, I can't lie to you.

fighting the core it occurs. And I'm gonna tell you this,
I've seen a different Kevin Durant since since what happened
with Draymond. When if you look at the dynamic, like
Durant is actually being more assertive and I've ever seen him,

You run, you run with you run to a degree.
But you have the self scout to understand where you

and you'll say, we normally get that normally works. So

to play off your own tendencies to take advantage of
of them doing their homework. That's why it's always good
when you get when you get too good um teams
that they're coordinated very well. So they then run stuff
based off of their tendencies because they understand and respect
that you are going to do your homework to take

game should be high scoring because defenses, it's just hard
to play defense on any level of football anymore. And
so college I'm telling you I watched I'm watching college
football because of the whole targeting rule. Guys are not

wanting to hit when they see a guy catch the
ball or any manner. I'm it's it's starting to look
like flag football in a sense. And I don't want
to answer. I don't understand what we're doing and what
we're trying to do. We're trying to be cautious for
the guys to protect them against themselves else But it's

so hard to play defense if you don't if you
don't get a hand on the football, it's almost you
hope he drop it because you can't get it out.
You can't defend the pass right now. Guys aren't wrapping up.
And that's why I really like the Pack twelfth championship
game list, and I kind of did too, allowed them
to play a little bit. And when you see defensive
backs that don't want to wrap up, especially in open space,
(47:24):
that's why you get sixties seventy plays. They're scoring in
seven seconds flat because nobody's wrapping up. Yeah, and I
didn't think about that too. I mean, targeting is being
called so liberally these days that I've never thought about
the mindset of a defensive player when he goes into
Actually I think it, so think about think about it.
You get called for targeting and it's halftime. You gotta

miss two quarters in the next game too, So that's
your bowl game. If you're a senior, you're gonna miss
the first two quarters of the last game you play
it's just if if in the NFL throw for four
in their yards every week, right, they know they're not
gonna get killed. This guy's not gonna kill me. It's

defensive guy, and you like defense, you want to set
the tone. And the game is forcing offenses to dictate
the tempo of every matchup unless you can outscore opponents.
You can't dictate the tempo from a defense because you know,
if a guy is thrown for four hundred yards, what
do you do. We were taught the tattoo somebody to
stick a helmet in his chest. Can't do that. Now

you can't go low, you can't go high. What are
you supposed to? It is remarkable where the game has gone.
It is and and it's it's changed the game. So
and listen, we all want players to be protected. We're
all aware of CTE and the ravages that could take place,
but you know, the spearing that took place when we
were growing up, that's not what we're even talking. We
just we just saw one and and I hope, I

hope the Jalen Smith kid, he needs to watch film
of himself playing, because he did. He did leave his
feet with that. Yeah, that that that hit on Kamara
that was not called. I mean he I just hope
that the kid watches the film of himself. And I understand, yes,

I understand you want to play a certain way and
you want to be physical, but man, that that that hit. It,
I mean, you can hurt someone else, and you can
you can hurt yourself most important. And I just he
needs to watch that. But the game, the competition committee,
they gotta do something to change to get this back
to reel it in as as fun as fun as

the Kansas City Chiefs in the Rams game was. I
just it was like really it was like Maddie, I
was like, are you serious? And and I'll use Oklahoma
West Virginia as an example too. That to me was
was sort of like colleges version of the Chiefs and
the Rams. It wasn't just the lack of hitting and
the poor tackling, but players are just completely out of position.
I mean, I love will budder, what do you do

as a as a defender? I'm telling you once once
this this defenseless receiver thing happened. The eighty ninety hundry
catch receiver. It went up and and and and just
and just watch watch what coordinators are doing. They called
it the clear our guy. They'll run a guy through

the middle really fast and then trail with another guy.
Because that guy running really fast, everybody freezes because you
don't want to hit him because he's defenseless, and the
guy trailing you throw him the ball. They've almost created
like fake sort of block out and pick players. You
sent up a guy out, you said an the other guy,

and they're screwed, and then there's there's nothing you can
do about it. And that's why I like the college
game a little bit more than the NFL in the
sense of at least the past interference is fifteen yards
as well. I mean, if you're gonna I mean, because
I can't stand given an offense an opportunity on top
of not being able to hit them anywhere, we're gonna
(52:12):
give them a ninety yard you know, penalty or a
fifty yard penalty. That changes the game where we're not
forcing them to work down the field in any capacity anymore.
It's debatable, But on the flip side, do you imagine
in the National Football League if they're every freaking play
but Jones just polish er, I just I just want,

I just wanted to call offensive past interference as much
as they call defensive past interference, which they don't, or
or or or the push off, you know, like oh
oh yeah, and and in the Saints Dallas game, if
a receiver, if a Marie Cooper reaches back in Lattimore,

the dB is to not allow them to create separation
and grab the hand like you can't. You just can't
allow what they are allowing. It's it's once again so
hard to play defense. What are you get? I know,

games are managed better? I think they're awful on boat level.

at least for betting purposes, guys that will take the

have have had over inflated lines and they struggled as

road favorites. Now this isn't this isn't a road a
road game. Um, but you know they're they're twenty point favorites.
Right now, just for the record to in ten against
the spread as a c C chalk of twenty or more.

trends out the window right now. Clemson, that's you're just
done on another level and what years ago doesn't matter.

I think they're gonna smash them, you know, I like,

And in terms of the trends, I wanted to throw

out to you real quick, last the level times Clemson
has played outside of their home stadium ten and one
against the spread last seven games this year, they have
not failed to cover their six oh and one against
the spread. So this is a team that's not only winning,
they're winning even beyond Vegas expect to intend against the spread.

what does that matter? You got conflicting, You have conflicting

streak at stake, but how much do the kids want

to a Bowl game. You need that six win. But

credit uh, you know that defense for making plays, but

That's what I'd be selling my team. I would be
selling my team on that. Guys. We found a way
to win a game when we were not playing our best.

these kids, it matters when when a kid commits and

four or five stars, and they give that scholarship to
somebody else because they gotta let you know, hey, look
that we that scholarships gone. Hey listen, It's been driving
Baker Mayfield, isn't it. At times I wonder what's this

kid's problem? How come he doesn't shut up? But he
just uses the sense of you know, I was overlooked.
It drove him, so so it's droll. It pushed and
drove him. So well that he went to the school
that wouldn't let him play it. Prove to them I
am going to be like, I am going to be
the best player you've ever had played his position. Take

that with Baker. It's legitimate. And what I like what
Marshall brings up is there's things that unless you're deeply
involved with it, the egos that comp you're never gonna
know about that. It transcends EXAs. But that's what makes
these guys so great. You have to have that competitive
edge and care that much. And I was talking about it.

You could never coach that. That's something to stay warriors fighting. Right, Oh,
they have problems, I said, don't have problems. I said,
you'll never see you know, you'll never see that on

guys on the team, Um, they're the knucklehead, Like they're

the field instead of already being on the field warming up,
getting ready, or or or the guy that that gets
the face mask or the personal following special teams to
put the defense or the offense in in a in
a in a bad situation, there's always those guys, and
as a leader, you have to find a way to
police them before they make those mistakes. And sometimes sometimes

fighting the core it occurs. And I'm gonna tell you this,
I've seen a different Kevin Durant since since what happened
with Draymond. When if you look at the dynamic, like
Durant is actually being more assertive and I've ever seen him,

never been challenged, especially in this day and age, when
you go back to their high school career, they've been
fed that uns they've never been challenging. I see that

when you start punching people. And that's just selfish stuff.

You can't. You can't treat him like you don't mess
with him. You gotta leave him. Yes, you gotta leave

level it is. A quarterback can't have competition. He can't

fair game. Everyone follow the ball, marsh You're not getting
the next yeob exactly. But that position you cannot. It
can be a question about who your quarterback is. That's
just that they can't handle competition. And I'm talking about

don't care how great. At any level, I'm talking Hall
of famer, you cannot put somebody else in their meeting
room that's capable of doing the job. I mean it

to play defense on any level of football anymore. And

like flag football in a sense. And I don't want

don't get a hand on the football, it's almost you
hope he drop it because you can't get it out.
You can't defend the pass right now. Guys aren't wrapping up.
And that's why I really like the Pack twelfth championship
game list, and I kind of did too, allowed them
to play a little bit. And when you see defensive
backs that don't want to wrap up, especially in open space,

that's why you get sixties seventy plays. They're scoring in
seven seconds flat because nobody's wrapping up. Yeah, and I
didn't think about that too. I mean, targeting is being
called so liberally these days that I've never thought about
the mindset of a defensive player when he goes into

stick a helmet in his chest. Can't do that. Now

you can't go low, you can't go high. What are
you supposed to? It is remarkable where the game has gone.
It is and and it's it's changed the game. So
and listen, we all want players to be protected. We're
all aware of CTE and the ravages that could take place,
but you know, the spearing that took place when we
were growing up, that's not what we're even talking. We
just we just saw one and and I hope, I

hope the Jalen Smith kid, he needs to watch film
of himself playing, because he did. He did leave his
feet with that. Yeah, that that that hit on Kamara

I mean, you can hurt someone else, and you can

needs to watch that. But the game, the competition committee,
they gotta do something to change to get this back

the Kansas City Chiefs in the Rams game was. I

was sort of like colleges version of the Chiefs and

the poor tackling, but players are just completely out of position.

and just watch watch what coordinators are doing. They called
it the clear our guy. They'll run a guy through

Because that guy running really fast, everybody freezes because you
don't want to hit him because he's defenseless, and the
guy trailing you throw him the ball. They've almost created
like fake sort of block out and pick players. You
sent up a guy out, you said an the other guy,

and they're screwed, and then there's there's nothing you can
do about it. And that's why I like the college
game a little bit more than the NFL in the
sense of at least the past interference is fifteen yards
as well. I mean, if you're gonna I mean, because
I can't stand given an offense an opportunity on top
of not being able to hit them anywhere, we're gonna

give them a ninety yard you know, penalty or a
fifty yard penalty. That changes the game where we're not
forcing them to work down the field in any capacity anymore.
It's debatable, But on the flip side, do you imagine
in the National Football League if they're every freaking play

I just wanted to call offensive past interference as much
as they call defensive past interference, which they don't, or

a receiver, if a Marie Cooper reaches back in Lattimore,

the dB is to not allow them to create separation
and grab the hand like you can't. You just can't
