Speaker 1 (00:03):
Let's fly f A T s Y and Sports Grid
Network present all in his hands, but none the hard
Hardwood Takeaways. It's Lord, Lord, Hello, and welcome to Hardwood Takeaways,

(00:26):
brought to you by the Sports Grid. Get on the Grid.
I'm your host, Scott Bogman. You can follow me on
the Twitter at Bogman Sports. And we had a bunch
of games happened tonight, so let's just dive right in,
starting with the Pacers getting a giant win one nineteen
to eighty over the Hornets. No Jeremy Lamb in this

(00:49):
one and no Oladipo on this one, obviously, Jeremy Lamb
now out for the season with his torn a c
l Oladipo was out with a sore back. But it
did not matter for the Pacers. I mean, the Hornets
were without Devonte Graham, one of their best players, but
he's not really a great score so kind of surprising
to see after the Pacers lost by forty five or

(01:13):
forty six, I can't remember how much it was to
win a game by thirty nine, but that's what happened tonight.
They outshot the Hornets fifty seven to thirty nine percent.
They were up twenty five points at halftime, and they
got up as much as forty three points in the
fourth quarter. Just a crazy, crazy, insane game for the

(01:33):
Pacers in this one. Fifteen and nine for Sabonus on
eight of ten shooting four or five from the line
with a triple. I mean, everyone kind of shot well tonight.
Nine of twelve for t J. Warren, nineteen points for him,
three rebounds to assist and a steel and um, let's
see Broaddon fifteen six and seven on six of eight

(01:55):
shooting UH justin holiday sixteen three and three with two
steals and a lock on UH six of twelve, two
triples for him, and I think the only started that
shot like crap was Miles Turner. Miles Turner was two
of nine and only six points, but he had ten rebounds,
two steals to assist in a career high eight blocks,

(02:17):
so he was contributing on the defensive end for sure.
In this one. Sampson with ten off the bench, Doug
McDermott with ten as well. On the hornet side. UH
bridges seventeen six and one with a steel on seven
and sixteen shooting. But here we go with the shooting
woes Rogier two of thirteen Malik Monk, who got in

(02:38):
the starting lineup with no Graham four of thirteen, four
of nine for Zella, four of ten for Martin, one
of five for McDaniels, oh for two for Chile. So
just not a great shooting night at all. And I
don't think no one was in. No one had double
digit rebounds here. Uh, just a terrible game for the Hornets,

(03:00):
an awful effort. So hopefully, uh they will come back
and be a little bit better soon. The next game
that we had was a big one in the Eastern Conference.
It was the Bucks on the road against the Raptors
and they end up winning one oh eight to meaning
the Bucks fifty and eight. Now through the same fifty

(03:20):
eight games forty two and sixteen for Toronto and UM.
The Raptors were actually up at halftime by two. The
Bucks took over the third quarter, outscoring the Raps by fifteen.
The fourth quarter was actually filled with spurts by the
Raptors who are trying to catch up, and they pulled
it within six after scoring the first seven in the quarter,

(03:42):
but the Bucks went up again. Uh. They cut it
to seven on a FTV three with about two minutes
of twenty seconds lap, but j answered with a triple
and the lead was double digits the rest of the
way through for the Bucks. And to the surprise of
absolutely no one, this was a huge game of course
from g A, but he wasn't the leading score nineteen points,

(04:03):
nineteen rebounds, eight assist on five and fourteen shooting thirty
five point seven and two triples in this game. Chris
Middleton was your leading score for the Bucks twenty two points,
eight rebounds, three assist fifteen from Brook Lopez three rebounds,
five blocks in this game five of thirteen shooting seventeen

(04:23):
seven and four for Bledsoe as well, and then everyone
else chipped in less than double digits. On Toronto's side,
Pascal Siam twenty two points, six rebounds, three assist and
a block on six of fourteen shooting with five triples.
Uh Sergebaka just an ugly, ugly shooting night. He was
two of fifteen, five points, five rebounds and assist one

(04:47):
of ten from Deep I mean, come on, quit taking
on good lord uh oh for two from the line
as well to add to his terrible night. Um. Also
bad was Kyle Lowry two of twelve for him as
well ten points for rebound, six assists, fourteen to one
in a steel on five and fourteen shooting for Fred VanVleet.
I mean, you look at the starting lineup, that's fine.

(05:11):
Uh o g four of eight, best shooter by far
two of fifteen two or twelve five and fourteen uh
three of nine from the bench, three of six for
Randie Hallas. Jefferson Davis had UH ten four and two
with a steel. Moving over to Oklahoma City, winning their
game on the road against the Bulls one four to one,

(05:34):
bringing the Thunder up to thirty six and twenty two.
And the Bulls are working their way to twenty games
below five hundred. There twenty and thirty nine. Now big
discrepancy and free throw attempts in this one. The Bulls
took nine and the Thunder took thirty five. Hard to believe.
I don't know that I've seen a bigger discrepancy this season,
but that's just insane. Okay, see led by twenty four

(05:58):
and then let the Bulls come all the way back
to take the lead going into the fourth quarter. Um
the Thunder went ahead for good on a Gallow dunk
with about a minute and forty seconds left. Levine had
a shot to win it at the buzzer, but his
three UH rimmed out, so no good for him for
the thunder in this game. An ice worm from s

(06:19):
g A twenty one points, eleven rebounds, three assists, a
steal in two blocks on five of eleven shooting with
two triples for him. Gallo twenty four points for rebounds
and a steel on eight of sixteen shooting. Steven Adams
sixteen nine and two, three steals, three blocks, filling up
that stat sheet. UH six of eight shooting for him
four of six from the line, Chris Paul nineteen three

(06:40):
and nine with a steal, seven and fifteen shooting for him,
twenty one points for Shrewder off the bench, two rebounds,
five assists to steal on eight of twelve shooting. Great
day for him UH twenty minutes, but only six points
and an assist for New Orleans. No weell, no rebounds
or blocks. Ferguson had a eleven on the Chicago side,

(07:02):
forty one points from Zach Lavine. He's trying to will
him there. Five rebounds, four assist, a steal, nineteen of
thirty five shooting fifty four point three percent with three triples.
He was only three of thirteen from downtown though. Uh.
Kobe White huge game here thirty five points, seven rebounds,
three assist and um thirteen of twenty one shooting with

(07:26):
six triples for him. Harrison had eleven, Saturanski had ten,
everybody else in single digits for the Bulls. Moving over
to the Nuggets getting another win one fifteen over the
Pistons and their forty and eighteen, which is uh ties.
I love these weird basketball records. UM ties the best

(07:48):
start through fifty eight games in franchise history at forty
and eighteen. Seventh straight loss for the Pistons. Denverse slow
rolled this one. In college football, I think the guy
is over the solid verbal called us a croc potting
where they were up by six at the end of
the first, thirteen at the end of the half, ten
going into the fourth, and the Pistons kept cutting the

(08:09):
lead but they couldn't close it. Uh and the the
the Nuggets, excuse me, outshot the Pistons fifty seven to
in this game. And Dwayne Casey after the game said, look,
we don't have Yokich and Murray, they're superstars. We don't
have that, which I don't know that can dig a little,
but he did say we're working towards that career high.

(08:30):
Twenty nine points for Jeremy Grant this one, four rebounds
and an assist, twelve or fifteen shooting for him. Uh.
Then we had Yokis with sixteen points, five rebounds, four assists,
four steals. Gary Harris had nine three and three, nine
four two and one from millsap five three, three and
two from Barton for the starters. Michael Porter Jr. Off

(08:53):
the bench thirteen eight and one. And it's hard getting
everyone minutes here for the Nuggets because for the first
time this year, pretty much everybody's healthy. Um, no minutes
for von Ley or Bates jop So it's gonna be
a struggle getting everybody in there. On the Detroit side,
Christian Would twenty and ten for a double double and

(09:15):
assist to steal in a block for him seven of
sixteen shooting. Uh. Derrick Rose twenty points, two rebounds, five assists,
two steals on six or fourteen with a triple for
him fourteen to six and one for Brandon Night twelve
and two for Langston Galloway. Moving over to the Celtics
over the Blazers one eighteen to one oh six, bringing

(09:38):
the Celtics up to forty and seventeen, right on the
heels of those Raptors and the Blazers twenty six and
thirty three, still seven games below five hundred UH in
this game, at third straight game without Lillard for the Blazers,
Boston was up at the end of the first quarter
and had to fight off runs from the Blazers until
the fourth when they went up as much as night

(10:00):
eighteen and obviously ended up winning this game by twelve points.
So a career high eight triples for Jason Tatum in
this one. He shot a fourteen of twenty two eight
of twelve from downtown for thirty six points, five rebounds
and assists and two blocks. Jalen Brown four point seven

(10:22):
rebounds to assist in a steel eight of nineteen shooting
for him with three triples. They were without Kemba Walker
again in this game. He did not play, but Gordon
Hayward thirty one minutes twelve five and two, Daniel Tis
ten nine and three for him, Marcus Smart twelve six three,
two steals and a block on four or sixteen shooting,

(10:42):
so just a normal night with four triples for him,
so um, all of his shots were that he made
were threes and he fills up the statue sheep, but
brings you down percentages if you're thinking like a fantasy
nerd like I am. On the Portland's side, obviously, it's
a tough go without their best play there. But c J.
Mccollumn shipped in a double double twenty eight points, four rebounds,

(11:04):
ten assist and three blocks in this game ten of
twenty four shooting forty one point seven, five triples for
him as well. Carmelo fourteen two and one Whiteside with
a huge game here eighteen points, nineteen rebounds, three assist
and a block on eight of twelve shooting for him.
Trevor Reza seventeen eight and to assist in two steals

(11:24):
on five of six shooting and two triples for him.
Going over to the game of the night, which of
course was the Lakers hosting the Pelicans. Uh. The Lakers
wound up winning this game one eighteen to one oh nine.
Their record is now forty four and twelve Pelicans down
to twenty five and thirty three, sixth straight win for
the Lakers, but This, of course, was the first game

(11:47):
after the funeral for Kobe Bryant. There's just a lot
going on. There was that was going on. Of course,
this was Zion's first game against the Lakers, and a
lot of the guys from the trade going to l
A again. Uh. Just a very weird emotional game in
this one, but Lebron was putting on a show. Forty points,

(12:10):
eight rebounds, six assists and a block on seventeen of
twenty seven shooting, uh. Five triples for him, Anthony Davis
thirty six minutes. He had a weird hand injury in
the fourth quarter, but he stayed in the game, So
I think we're gonna be okay with that one. Twenty
one points, fourteen boards, three assist, a steel in six

(12:30):
blocks in this game. Six of twenty one shooting is
only twenty eight point six, but he filled it up
everywhere else. Uh seventeen five four and two steals in
a block for Danny Green six of ten shooting with
five triples for him, k CP off the bench fifteen points,
a rebound and assist in two steals. Zion had, of
course a couple of uh you know, highlight reel plays

(12:54):
in this one, and he Uh didn't lead in scoring,
but twenty nine points, six rebounds, three assist in a
steal on eight of eighteen shooting thirteen of nineteen at
the line to sixty eight point four percent. Got improved
that if you're gonna get there that many times. Brandon
Ingram thirty four points lad the Pelicans seven rebounds, four assists,
two steals, Uh, Derrick Favors eight three with a steal

(13:17):
on a block, Drew Holiday eleven five and nine with
two steals on five of nineteen shooting, chete percent of
no good one triple for him, Lonzo Ball almost a
triple double ten eight and eight on four of eleven
shooting for him, and two triples Mellie off the bench
eleven six and two for the Pelicans, and then the

(13:38):
last game of the night was um the King's winning
over the Warriors one twelve to ninety four, bringing their
record up to twenty four and thirty three and the
Warriors continue to slide. Their twelve and forty six seventh
straight loss at home for the Warriors and it ties
their longest home losing streak since the two thousand, two
thousand one season, and the Kings were up a leven

(14:00):
at the end of the first and never trailed in
this game that they wound up winning by eighteen points.
Kings have been playing better, Golden State has been a
little bit rough, but be Elitza twenty seven minutes, one point,
three rebounds, five assists, oh for five shooting. I don't
know what's going on with him recently, but he has
been in a bit of a downturn here uh ten points,

(14:22):
seven rebounds, three assists in his last game on four
of nine, three of seven before that, and he's shooting
forty eight percent on the year, So I don't know
what's going on with him, But the rest of the
guys picked up the slack here uh twenty one points,
two rebounds, five assists, a steal in a block, four
deer and Fox on eight of fifteen shooting with a
triple for him, Bogged on seventeen one and three with

(14:44):
two steals, six of ten shooting two triples for him,
and then Buddy Healed off the bench nineteen big points,
six rebounds to assist, a steel six and fifteen shooting
but five triples, and Harrison Barnes twenty one, two and
one On the the State side, Andrew Wiggans sixteen points
with an assist on six or fourteen shooting h twenty

(15:06):
one and ten with three rebounds for Marquis Chris, who
actually led the Warriors and scoring here, Jordan Pool thirteen points,
a rebound, four assists and a steel Pascal twelve three
two with a steel five of eight. But they are
getting nothing from the bench here. Bowman had ten, but
Dragon had nothing. Twenty two minutes for Siskotto Anderson he

(15:28):
scored three, fifteen minutes for Looney and he scored five.
So they're not getting much. But there is good news
on the horizon for the Warriors because, uh, Steph Curry
is gonna be coming back on Sunday. And I know,
uh there's a couple of times I've sounded like an
idiot on this podcast, and you know this is not
going to be the last time. But I didn't think

(15:49):
they were gonna let him play again. And I know
that they were babying him with this hand injury. But
he's talked about he has permanent nerve damage in his
finger for this. So he said the right and the
left feel different now, which is, uh, you know, strange
to think of. So I don't think they're rushing him
back at all. I do think that if they were

(16:11):
in the playoffs, he would have come back much sooner.
But I also don't see much advantage of him playing
outside of him scratching the itch that he wants to play.
And I get it. You know, one of the best
players in the NBA. We want to see him play
in a nightly basis. It's gonna make this show more fun.
It's gonna make watching the NBA more fun to have
him back. Of course, I just don't know if it

(16:33):
helps the Warriors bottom line as far as winning championships.
I mean, you don't want him to be rusty next year,
but I think you know, Curry could probably take two
years off and still knock down six triples in a
game without an issue. You know, he's one of the
best players on the planet. So I don't think that
there's just much to be gained by doing this. I mean,

(16:53):
I know the Warriors don't want to end up being
the franchise that rushed Kevin Durramp back and made him
terroris achilling season. We still have no idea. We won't
until next year. Next season. Excuse me, if he is
going to be the same Kevin Durant before he tore
his achilles. We just don't know, you know, so um,
you know, I don't think they're rushing Curry back. But
if Curry comes back and then gets hurt again, there's

(17:16):
gonna be a lot of people questioning this that weren't before.
And I am and have been questioning this decision for
a while. So I'm happy he's back. I'm gonna enjoy
watching him play. I just don't know if this is
the best thing, um, for Curry and for the Warriors.
But we've got a nice slate of games coming up tomorrow,
so let's take a look at those. We got Cleveland

(17:39):
hosting Philly. Uh, the line that I have right now
is Philly by seven and a half, and I would
take them. Because Ben Simmons is out for at least
two weeks with this back inflammation or whatever it is. Uh,
it doesn't look very good for him. I mean, back
injuries can be absolutely brutal for any person, that doesn't
matter what your profession is. So to see him go

(18:00):
down with this is of course concerning, and he will
be out for at least the next two weeks. The
nets are one and a half point favorites on the
road against the Wizards. With the way Bradley Beale has
been playing, I mean he's put up eighty points in
like the last fifty five minutes of him playing or whatever.
It's just insane. Scored fifty five last night. Um, I'm

(18:22):
taking the Wizards in this game. I think Bradley Beale
is gonna will them to a win. Uh. The Knicks
are on the road against the Hornets. Hate the Hornets
on a back to back and in general with the
way they've been playing recently. So give me the Knicks
and that one. Magic on the road against the Hawks
are two and a half point favorites. Man. Um, that's

(18:45):
a tough one because the Magic are definitely a better team,
but the Hawks have been playing well. I'm gonna take
the home team that one. Give me the Hawks, Uh
the heat and the Wolves no line on that one.
Give me the Heat, especially Jimmy Butler. Plays. Rockets ten
and a half point favorites against the Grizzlies. No Brandon
Clark and this one uh still without Jaren Jackson. The
Grizzlies should be so give me the Rockets. Uh. The
Spurs are hosting the Mavericks. Is this I just want

(19:08):
to double check. I think this is the first game
back after that big away streak. Um, yeah, this is
their first game back at home. Uh for eight straight games.
I mean this stretch to uh, you know, the beginning
of the month February third, all the way now down
to uh February until they had a home games. So

(19:31):
give me the Spurs with a little home cooking, being
glad to be back in their own beds and stuff
in the Mavericks still being a little peeved about that
last game. Uh. The Suns and Clippers have no line.
I will not take the Sons in any games probably
for the rest of the year, unless they're against the Warriors.
So give me the Clippers and the Jazz are hosting
the Celtics. I love what Boston is doing, but Walker's

(19:55):
hurt and they're on a back to back and going
uh from Portland and Utah. Give me Utah at home
and that one with the Celtics plaining on our back
to back. But that's gonna do it for me. Remember,
you guys can find me on the Twitter at bogging
sports and hours on a couple of days. Take it easy.
