(00:00):
Hi, Hi Ann. How areyou doing. I'm doing excellent. How
are you I'm good? Thank youvery much. Happy release day, Thank
you, thank you. Does itstill feel kind of cool and special,
you know, special release day whensomething's out there for people to take in.
Is it still as exciting as itwas, you know, a few
years ago? Well, yeah,it's pretty exciting because this is this one's
(00:22):
different. I mean, this isa different entity altogether. So how will
this band, Tripsitter and your projectwith Tripsitter be different from Heart? What
can we expect? Well, theycan expect eleven new original songs. I
wrote all the lyrics too, andI collaborated on all the music too,
So I've had more of a handin the writing of this album than ever
(00:46):
before. Great playing, great music, interesting ideas behind the songs. Just
a really great moving moment. So, and what have you been up to
the last couple of years? Lastyear I put out a record called Fierce
Bliss, and that was pretty muchlike COVID project album. Okay, this
one is more free and clear, this one is. I was down in
muscle Shoals working on some demos andI met these guys that are in trips
(01:10):
that he and we just wanted tomake a band. It's like we really
hit it off personally and musically decidedto throw in our lot together for a
while and just see what's what. And you are currently on tour, and
you will be continuing to tour, yes, and for the remainder of this
year, well, we will definitelybe looking around for you because obviously any
(01:33):
chance we get to hear your voice, whether it's on a new project Another
Door which is out today, orit's certainly live, it is it's an
experience to get to hear you saying. It is truly an honor to talk
to you. And I just thinkof all the times that your voice has
permeated our radio station here. It'spretty special. Thank you so much.
(01:56):
And can you believe how I mean, I'm sure it probably seems like a
black since you guys got started inheart, but my goodness, it's four
or five decades at this point.Does that ever just kind of blow your
mind? Yeah? Yeah, allthe time, because when you're working hard
and things happening, one thing makesthe next thing happen. You know,
you don't really feel the passage oftime that much, right, I mean,
(02:19):
you feel it physically, but youdon't really understand it, you know.
Yeah. Well, obviously you andNancy and the band Heart got your
start in the seventies, but boy, when the eighties hit, it just
seemed like hit after hit after hitafter hitting. You guys were just on
this crazy fast treadmill. Yeah.Yeah, that wasn't a lot of work.
That's that particular era. It wasa little No, it was quite
(02:43):
different because we weren't writing the songsand so we weren't as as personally invested
I think in those hits. Still, it was a very interesting time and
made lots of money and saw allout of the world. Do you have
a favorite tour that jumps out outfrom from back in those days? Was
there, like I'm sure, likeyou said, it was a complete blur
(03:05):
from the from the mid eighties tothe early nineties. But you guys have
obviously been touring, you know, either as Heart or solo artists or in
this case with your other band Tripsitter. It just seems like you've really not
ever stopped touring. Well, that'sthat's one of the best ways to get
your music out there. Yeah, you can't really rely on the on the
music selling platforms to get your musicto people, especially your fan base,
(03:30):
because they're not necessarily like the Heartfan base isn't necessarily the same one that
would listen to Save Britney Spears orTaylor Swift or something like that, right,
so you have to actually go tothem, which is which is fine.
I mean, it's a tough life. There's never enough sleep and there's
never enough good food and all thatkind of stuff. But on the other
(03:52):
hand, you get to go outand actually experience life and meet people and
sing your songs. Yeah, well, I'm sure that's how Heart garnered such
a huge audience. Obviously you hada ton of radio hits, but once
people saw you guys in concert, there was there's no way you weren't going
to go see You're You're not like, oh I saw Heart. Once I'm
done, it's like I have gotto go watch and blow up the stage
(04:15):
again. And Nancy, So yeah, I want to ask you real quick
about Uh. One of one ofmy favorite songs, which I don't think
gets near enough attention is is youand Mike Reno on the Footloose soundtrack for
Almost Paradise? Was that something wherewas that kind of just like Okay,
let's get the best female vocalist overhere, the best you know rock guy
(04:38):
at the time, and let's puthim together. Did you guys know each
other? How did the recording ofAlmost Paradise come together? Well, we
don't. We didn't really know eachother at that point. They were from
Vancouver. I think they're from Canadaanyway, yep, Lobber Boy and but
we didn't really know each other. And they somebody had the idea that I
should sting in a touette on thatsong. So they asked me who would
(05:00):
you like to sing with? Andat the time I said, well,
Paul Rodgers, Luke Raham, yeah, and none of them were able to
do it, so Mike Reno waschosen and it turned out really well,
Oh so good. Have you guysever performed that together the two of you?
I stn't think we have all right, I'm calling for it right now.
(05:21):
We got to get that. Wegot to make that happen sometimes.
We had lover Boy in for ashow about a month or two ago,
and Mike still got it. Soit would be fun to hear you guys
belt that one out live right right. Yeah. Talking to Ann Wilson here
for another minute or so. Thenew Trip Sitter Live in Concert is out
that's going to debut over one hundredPBS stations. That's in November. But
(05:46):
Another Door is out now, andso for all the Ann Wilson fans,
for all the hard fans, andjust kind of summarize this and tell everybody
why why they should definitely go outand give this a listen. Well,
Another Door is the first album thatI've been involved with that was all original,
new, original songs. I wroteall the lyrics and I collaborated on
all the music with it with thetrips Hitter guys and Trift Hitter is a
(06:11):
band of musicians that I met whenI was working down at Muscle Showals on
some demos and we really hit itoff and clicked and decided to make a
record, so we did. It'seleven new songs, and they are all
kinds of songs. There's rock, there's balance, there's there's introspective stuff,
there's there's just like rock and stuff. Badass excellent. That is that is
(06:34):
awesome. Well, we can't waitto hear it. And by the way,
of course, the new album AnotherDoor is out on all major digital
platforms and Wilson dot com. That'swhere you can also get the tour dates
as well if you want to catchthem live by getting those tickets through Ticketmasters.
So and so wonderful talking to you. Is there any plan for something
(06:55):
for Heart for next year year afterthat? Well, I'm not a liver
to discuss it right now, fairenough, but just let me say that
Park fans have a reason to beoptimistic, you know what. We will
take that and we will jump upand down and be very happy about that.
So thank you, and we're soexcited about the new project. Thank
you so much. It was greattalking to you. Thank you for having me
