More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's Star one
on one three. It's Marcus andCorey. Wednesday morning. Hello, three
days away from my child's birthday. Are you ready? I'm really thankful.
When she was three years old,so she's going to be ten. When
she was like three, we hadthe most over the top ridiculous backyard birthday
party that she never wanted, butshe did. I mean bounce house face

(00:23):
painting, vip bar, taco truckout front, and she looked at me
when she goes, Daddy, Idon't want this. No, she just
wants to hang out with a coupleof homies. Point being, we don't
have to do that much prep. That's good. So that's pretty cool.
That's super excited. What do yougot going on me on a Wednesday?
I'm probably a lawn order marathon.Honest, I am actually working on my

(00:47):
hummingbird feed or something terrible happened.I went to go check it and change
out the water. Yeah, antseverywhere. Oh they were full of ants.
Wait, ants like sugar water. But I guess I have to move
it and put it somewhere different.Yes, yeah, so that was a
bummer. We appreciate you having uson this morning. Let us know what's
going on. You can always keepup with us on the Marcus and Corey

(01:10):
Instagram are anywhere online at Marcus andCorey. Thanks for having us on.
It's Star one oh one three.More variety from the two thousands than nineties
and today it's Star one O onethree. It's Marcus and Corey. Good
morning. I have a question. What lengths have you gone to to get
out of going on a first date? Maybe you got cold feet? Well,
I wouldn't recommend this tactic because thisone was arrested for falsely reporting a

(01:32):
crime. She went off the railsafter she called the cops and made up
a story to get out of afirst date. She told them she called
the cops and said she was beingthreatened by an ex. So what happened
was is she met this guy ina dating app and they talked for about
a week, and then when hegot to her doorsteps, she suddenly got
cold feet and figured the best wayout of it was to call the cops.

(01:55):
Who figures this and so she alsoclaimed she was pregnant with his child.
I Among other things, she claimedthat he was threatening her that she
was pregnant with her child with hischild, and that they'd known each other
for a couple of years. Thispoor guy got detained for an hour.
He's like, man, I justmet this chick last week. Well,

(02:16):
luckily he was able to prove thatwith the messages they exchanged on the dating
app. He could show them theirphone and say she's full of it.
And so she admitted to making falsereports because she got cold feet and got
arrested. Is this one of thosethings where you make one bad decision and
say one lie, and then youhave to keep lying to keep the lies

(02:37):
going, and then all of asudden it spirals out of control and then
there's no way out. I don'tknow why. She just doesn't do what
I do. I just lay onthe floor until the person at the door
goes away, exactly, just laydown, or you could do what happened
to me. I've met a girlI was at It was like a weekly
club meeting. I forget what theclub was, but I just straight up
asked her out and she was likeyeah, And then I got to her

(02:59):
door and she literally was like Ididn't know what to say. You were
so forward, So I'd rather not. That's what I tried to say when
I joined this show. Hello. The other thing I love is that law
enforcement they always have an answer forevery charge possible. So she was charged
with two counts of what they callfalse report of indictable offense to public entity,

(03:22):
which is a misdemeanor, and alsoone count of false report on nine
one one. I don't even likethat. I don't even know that one
existed. Yeah, anyway, crazy, it's Star one on one three.
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's Star one
on one three. It's Marcus andCorey. And if you're that part of
summer where maybe uh, let's seesummer camps over like for us, horse

(03:45):
camp was a couple weeks ago,and you need to make some things happen
for the kids. Corey's got some. I love this list. Well,
okay, so what is it called? What's a list called fun family activities
to keep summer boredom away? Yes? How many of these are awesome?
I don't know if any of themare? Okay, but this is what
makes me laugh. Playing the sprinklerwhy not? Well, I don't want

(04:06):
to waste water? Oh call,it's the summertime. Dude. We used
to have slipping slides back in theday. Oh for sure. If you
couldn't afford the slipping slide, youjust, you know, tape some gar
baby to come on, dude, host of Backyard Olympics. Uh huh.
Yeah, I used to do thisas a kid. It was terrible.

(04:26):
We weren't allowed to have any sugarythings in the house, so we made
our own popsicles. Okay, theywere made out of orange juice. We
did that too. Yeah. Mydad used to ratchet it up too.
He would make us virgin margaritas withjust the limeaid and he would blend him
up. He'd blame. He wouldmake the kids blended margaritas. I don't
know if that's what made me theman I am today or not the alcoholic

(04:48):
no virgin margarita virgin that's right, that's right. Uh huh. Catch and
release fireflies. I think I didthis every summer when we went to North
Carolina. Is that a thing?Yeah, you get a jar. Hey,
we're going to Vermont. Somebody saidyou could do that in Vermont.
I mean, you don't want tobe cruel, you want to release some
of course, you put them ina jar and poke some holes in the

(05:09):
lid. We have a gigantic slidein our backyard and it separates like our
top level from like the bottom levelof the backyard. It's hard to explain,
but just imagine you're trying to connectthe hillside. So we put a
slide in. Well, one yearwe had the best time. I put
a kiddie pool at the bottom ofthe slide and then just ran a hose
down like the water down the slide, and my daughter had the best time.

(05:30):
That's great. Yes, what elseyou got? You can build a
birdhouse. Okay, get those popsiclesticks out. Uh huh. Play flashlight
tag. I don't even know whatthat is. Is that where you're just
like in the dark, running aroundshining flashlights on people. I guess i'd
fall. Yes, you would builda fort, Yes, create a family

(05:53):
time capsule. Yes, build afaery garden. I love this. Do
all these things. It'd be greatrate anyway, just some thoughts starters for
the summertime. Thanks for having uson. It's Star one, O one
three. If you've got any ad, we'll take a talk back right now.
That little red microphone on the iHeartRadioapp all right, it's Star one
O one three. More variety fromthe two thousands, the nineties, and

(06:13):
today it's Star one on one three. Easily our most popular segment on the
show. It is time for seconddate update. Everyone. We want to
find you a second date. Maybeyou met online, maybe you met in
real life, but you're not gettingyour second date. So that's why we're
here. Undoubtedly named after a streetin Palo Alto. Bryant is on the
phone. Good morning, Bryan, what's up? Good morning, what's up?

(06:35):
Dude? So tell us about Jenna. How'd you guys meet? And
then and then let's just go throughthe first date really quick. Yeah,
so we met on Hinge and yeah, I texted for a couple of weeks
and met in person and yeah,we were both raised in the Bay.

(06:56):
Day was great. We went tocheck up a new restaurant in Russian Hill.
Okay, it's like a Thai seafoodtheme, you know, which we
were both down for, you know, with footies. Okay, Well she
said she's a foodie. I'm notmy foodie, and uh, yeah,
I don't know. I felt likeit was a good date. I felt
like we clicked. It just Idon't know, like like the obience was

(07:23):
good, conversation was good. Idon't think I said anything stupid. Put
that on a T shirt for seconddate updates specifically, I don't think I
said anything stupid. That's for you. Yeah, but you need to wear
that T shirt. Did she Shehas? She ghosted, Yeah, I
have not not her back from her. You said it was a tie seafood

(07:43):
theme. Yeah, she could beallergic to peanuts or seafood anaphylactic shock.
Oh. Corey has a theory everytime. By the way, Brian never
know. It's usually doomsday scenario. But here we are. Hi. Well
she was, I mean, shewas cool with it. So okay,
let's call her. So what we'regonna have you do is just kick back

(08:05):
for a second. We will playa song, and then we'll have you
on mute and we'll call her andsee how she thought the date went.
Okay, okay, sounds good. All right, dude, hold the line.
It's a second date update. Starone on one three more variety from
the two thousands of the nineties andtoday it's Star one on one three.
It's Marcus and Corey. We're doingsecond Date Update. We've been talking to
Bryant about his date with Jenna, and you guys are both born and raising

(08:28):
the bab But I'm assuming you gota big job and moved to the city.
I wish, I wish. No, not really, not quite all
right, starving Turner song trying tomake what big wheels keep on turning?
Proud Mary? Did you just proudmarry me? Well, you know,
got a big job in the city. Okay, this is going off the
rails. I don't know, Bryant. Let's call Jenna before Corey has another

(08:52):
thought. Sounds good. Let's figureout why she's ghosted. I'm really interested
to see her take on the date. Go back on you. Here we
go. Okay, I may speakwith Jenna please. Uh hi, this

(09:15):
is her speaking to this. HiJenna, It's Marcus and Corey from Star
one one three. Hey, ohmy god, Hi are you god?
I actually I love you, guys. I listened to show all the time.
Thank you. So hey, Iassume you know we're doing second Date
update right now? I yeah,am I actually on? Is it the

(09:37):
air right now? Like Ford?Is it? Okay? If we put
you on the air, give ussecond Date update time and somebody called us
about you girl. Wow, Okay, Yeah, I mean I guess that's
okay. I mean, I guessI just don't want to like hurt anybody's
feelings, you know what I mean. Okay, we'll be a good person

(10:00):
here we go. You can youcan share with us without I think being
yeah too harsh. So we wantedto ask you about your date with Bryant
and if you know, second dateupdate. You know, he's sitting right
there, so Bryant, you mightas well unmute. I mean, let's
do this thing. Hey, what'sup, Jenna? Why would my feelings
be hurt? Though? Hey,look, I mean this is why,

(10:26):
Like I'm hesitant to say anything becauseit's really like not crazy or anything,
but I just I really, didyou know, enjoy your company? Like
for the most part, it wasjust kind of like the end of the
date when we were out walking inthe park that I just kind of lost
it and lost the feeling and Ijust didn't think that we were gonna be

(10:46):
very compatible. Did something happen?Yeah, I mean we were just kind
of strolling through the park and justtalking and then all the sudden, do
you guys know that ninety song truly, madly, deeply by Savage Garden.

(11:07):
Well, yeah, we play it, yes, yeah, so bright again.
Not to try and put you onthe spot, but like you just
blastedly serenaded me in the middle ofthe park, like you were screening those
lyrics off of the top of yourlungs to me, and it was I'm

(11:28):
sorry, it was just a bittoo much passion level one to ten twenty.
WHOA, Okay, is that likeyour go to briant like you is
that your jam? I mean it'sa great song. I'm surprised she wasn't
flattered. It's not canny sing.I mean, yeah, it wasn't bad.

(11:52):
I'm like, I'm not saying itwas bad or I'm not saying you
were bad or that you sounded bad, but it was just how intense you
were about it. It was justa little bit over the top for me.
And like, don't get me wrong, I do like the song too.
I think it's great. It's actuallyone of my best friend's wedding songs.

(12:13):
That's how yeah, I just thoughtit was I'm sorry, just your
serenading me of it was a bittoo much. Like I get that that's
probably a cool move for a lotof people, but that's the opposite for
me. I'm very introverted. Ireally don't like the spotlight on me at
all. I was more kind ofhumiliated than anything, to be honest,

(12:39):
Wow, yeah, okay, wellI apologize. I didn't know. I
you know, I was just tryingto have a good time and there wasn't
anybody around, so I thought itwould be kind of fun. And yeah,
I wasn't being serious, you know, like I was just trying to
like have a good time. Thisfeels salvageable. Guy, I don't know,

(13:01):
uh I, Jenna what I mean, we've got some self awareness.
Now, what if he pulls back? Where are you at? I to
be honest, like I've I've thoughtabout it, you know, even since
then, and I just still havenot gotten over how I feel about it.
I mean, I know I can'treally recreate the moment for you all,

(13:22):
but it was it was quite alot for me. And there were
people there that could hear and theywere staring. I don't know if you
saw that or not, but Imean it was yeah. I just don't
I just don't think my feelings aboutthat are going to change. More variety
from the two thousands the nineties andtoday it's Star one on one three,
it's Marcus and Corey. Good morning, Hi. I know you get triggered
when we do and talk about thingswhere that pit one generation against the other.

(13:48):
I don't know why we all can'tjust get along. Well, I
found one just for you. Okay, here's what people in their forties,
fifties and sixties, presumably gen xersand boomers, what we like gen Z.
Oh, we do like something, okay. Number one, wearing comfortable
shoes when going out. Okay,I'll see a gen Z girl at a

(14:11):
party dress and sneakers headed out tothe bar, and I think to myself,
that's comfy. They've got it figuredout. Now what if you throw
crocs in the mix. I'm out. Now we're out. No, now
you've completely phoned it in. Letme put it back on a good trajectory.
Okay, sneakers like I'm in Nike'sgal My husband worked at Nike,
and so like even Christmas parties,I would get a fancier athletic shoe to

(14:35):
wear to the party. People intheir forties, fifties and sixties like the
fact that gen Z draws boundaries inrelationships and at work. Both are necessary,
so they're more vocal about what theylife balance. Okay, for example,
at work, you know what Imean, like not taking that email
from your boss after hours, ornot acting on it and not doing it

(14:56):
work again, setting that boundary Usomething else. People forties and fifties and
sixties like about gen Z. Theytreat people with disabilities with respect. My
daughter has never been bullied at schoolor as an adult. Her peers treat
her with respect and genuinely care abouther. What is her disability? Your
daughter's twenty three since she has Downsyndrome. Oh okay, and people don't

(15:18):
mess with her. I think becausegenerational the we are more educated, and
it's like people have the information theyneed to understand something else. People in
their forties, fifties and sixties likeabout gen Z. They want the fact
that they want a four day workweek. I mean, who doesn't.
Who doesn't. But it's not fairbecause even if you do that, not

(15:39):
every industry can do that. Iknow, I know. And what's funny
is we kind of already have thethree day work week when people only come
in Tuesday through Thursday, and theysay they're working from home on Monday and
Friday but you know, I feellike you're projecting coworkers right now. I
don know what you're talking about.Uh gen z is willing to leave their
jobs for better When jen X didit, it was branded job hopping and

(16:02):
frowned upon. This person says,I'm glad that younger generations have figured out
if you want to climb the ladder, you often have to jump over to
a different ladder. Eh yeah, sure, down with it? Why not?
I don't think there's anything wrong withthat. There you go. If
you have anything to add, leaveus a talkback real quick. The little
red microphone on the iHeartRadio app. It's Star one oh one three. We
gave you good news twice in themorning seven forty eight forties, just feel

(16:25):
good stories. We got a storysent up to us out of the North
Bay about a young filmmaker who wantsto kind of shed a light or or
a spotlight on what it's like tolive with epilepsy. Oh okay, So
his name is Miles Levine, andwhen he was younger, when he was
a teenager, he would volunteer ata summer camp for kids living with epilepsy.
He said he started talking to peopleand he ran into some kids that

(16:49):
said they'd never made a friend before, Like ever, what kids are the
kids with epilepsy at this camp becausethe condition is difficult to live with on
a daily basis. I went tohigh school with a friend who had epilepsy,
and I'll never forget the day wewere water skiing and all of a
sudden, he just like froze inthe water. Yeah, and it was

(17:11):
you know, it was a learningmoment. It was a teachable moment.
And I'll never forget going to visitmy buddy at cal Poly and we were
playing video games in some of thelights of the video games triggered or seizure.
Oh no, and nobody knew whatto do, myself included, so
like it could be super scary, obviously unpredictable. I don't know that much
about it, but he's trying to, Like understanding leads to acceptance that much.

(17:33):
We know, yes, as someonewith cerebral palsy, I can tell
you from personal experience, like whenpeople don't know what your deal is,
they just why you walk so funny? Why are you limping? You know
this? That the other thing? You still get that, oh yeah every
day, Oh yeah, all thetime. But once you explain it,
then all of a sudden it becomesan aha moment, and hopefully, like

(17:55):
I said, that leads to acceptance. So in order to fight the stigma,
he wrote and directed a movie calledUnder the Lights in twenty nineteen,
which is a short film that kindof talked about what it's like to have
epilepsy. It was a story ofa teenager who knows that the lights from
prom night are going to trigger aseizure, but they go anyway. Oh
wow. He said, It's somethingthat most kids can take for granted,

(18:19):
but there are a certain segment thatwe'll miss out because of epilepsy. So,
like I said, he's just tryingto lead to more understanding so that
we can be a little bit moreof an inclusive society. And I appreciate
that. So thank you to Milesout of Santa Rosa making this movie about
epilepsy. We appreciate you. Man. Star one on one three more variety
from the two thousands of the ninetiesand today it's Star one on one three.

(18:41):
It's Marcus A Corey. It's timeto play our trivia game called what
you Know About That? Say goodmorning to our contestants. Michelle is in

committee. I can tell well, welcome, thank you. Going to San

going on, Brian? What areyou doing? I'm waiting for my son
to get in the car so Ican get him to school on time.
Brian's gonna have to yell at somebodylike midstream, like get in here.
I got twenty seconds, all right, you guys. The game is super

(19:26):
simple. It's five trivia questions, fifty seconds to answer them all each persons
going to be asked separately with theiropponent on hold. Whoever gets the most
right answers wins. If you don'tknow an answer, yell out pass.
We'll come back to the question ifwe have time left. Okay, everybody

holding san Rafel, and we startwith Michelle in Sosoon City. Which state

(19:48):
is nicknamed the Sooner State? SoonerState? Uh? Huh? Oklahoma?

(21:00):
through the questions. Let's see howwe did. Michelle comes back in Sassoon
City and going head to head againstBrian and san Rafel. Question number one,
Which state is nicknamed the Sooner State. Michelle said Oklahoma. Brian's at

(21:44):
one. But thank you, Brian. You were almost there. A chip
clup you get a chip clt.Really whise here, I know, great
job you too. Hang on playagain with us weekday mornings at eight o
five am. What you know aboutthat? I'm Star on three, a
variety from the two thousands of thenineties, and today it's Star one on

(22:04):
one three. It's Marcus at Corey. Here's a cute one. What are
some things that you used to thinkwere stuff that old people did that you
now do and love one of these. I'm still not very good at it,
but I'm trying. Is gardening, that's number one on the lists.
My mom had the most greenest ofthumbs. Most is greenest. Mine's kind
of brown, I think, ButI'm doing my best. Mine's black.

(22:27):
But thanks to the Internet, youcan watch videos and whatnot and figure out
what kind of plants you have andhow much water it needs and all that
stuff. You know what, Ifind really cathartic. And this is going
to sound really lame. I liketo pull weeds now, it's kind of
like there's something there's something zen aboutpulling weeds. Yes, what else is

(22:48):
on here? Uh? I rememberwe went to Vegas and somebody said,
what was the best part of yourtrip? And I said the bedet,
toilet seat. And since then theday, all day it's a life changer.
What else? Okay? After themidday playing games like I love to
play corn hole. I love lawngolf. You didn't like that as a
kid, though, I mean weplayed like board games and stuff. Uh

(23:12):
huh, But I mean just hangingout with Jeff's family, my husband.
They are super about the games. And I realize how fun it is.
Somebody else wrote stuff they hated doingas kids they love as the adults running
a half marathon. I will neverbe that guy. I practiced for half
marathon to raise money, and Iraised the money, and then I went

(23:33):
to a chiropractor and he said, you're not built for running, So I
trained for it. I never didit, but I still felt like I
did it cosplaying. I love dressingup. I wish Halloween was more than
once a year now couseplaying. Thesepeople are serious, and I mean it's
just fun to like look at people'scostumes and how detailed they get with it.
Is cosplaying where you dress up andthen also act the part the whole

(23:59):
time. I think it's up toyou. Okay, I think it's up
to you how far you want totake it. Another one on here buying
a minivan. I think I'd haveto take myself out if I ever bought
a minivan. I can't do it, but all the space it's good for
dogs. I remember my mom boughther SUBARUO. She loved it because when
she traveled, it was so greatfor the dogs. Here's another one using
pet names for your spouse's this whoeverthis person is. I always cringe to

(24:23):
couples who did it, but mygirl and I excl exclusively call each other
monkey. Now this toolbox count? Is that count as a pet name?
You can't steal my wife's nickname suh, something that you thought was lame as
a kid, but you now loveto do as an adult. Hit us
up with a little quick talk backon the iHeartRadio app, that little red
microphone. Let us know thanks forlistening. It's Star one on one three,
