Speaker 1 (00:00):
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one O one three. It's Marcus and Corey.
Monday Morning. Back from the weekend.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hi, Corey, So much happened this weekend, really did all
good stuff, but the one of my I mean, there
were so many highlights. I just got to mention the
ribs that my husband made yesterday.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
That was a big hitter.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
They were delicious and they made a homemade cole slam.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
No, it was a great weekend. We had our tails
by Twilight Gala and I'm so excited because I did
a deep dive into the auction item that I been on.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
So this line, this is a benefit for Marine Humane,
one of our partners for free Fridays. We dressed up,
we went out, we took the significant others, and then yeah,
Corey raised the paddle and won some elephant getaway sanctuary thing.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
So it's a rescue area, pause paws. It's about two
hours away, and it's an elephant experience. But what I
didn't realize is not just elephants, big cats, all kinds
of exotic animals. I knew you're gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Ask two hours away.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
It's about two hours away, and I'm just so excited
to go and we might be able to touch a
little elephant trunk. I know that sounds weird, but it's not.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
The funny part to me was when you won. I
was like elephant sanctuary, and Corey turned around to me,
I love elephants.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I do. I love elephants, and this just looks so amazing.
So it's a big animal rescue area. And you know,
we didn't go as crazy as last year because last year,
you know, we got that place in Paris. But that
was also for my fifties. It was a milestone birthday
that was different. This one was a little bit more
(01:46):
low key, but it was a lot of fun. The
weather was gorgeous, so fun, good food, good people.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Thank you to everybody that came out to support Marine Humane,
such a great organization, you know, all the shelters, honestly,
but that was a fun event. We had a great time,
so good. I have nothing else to report other than
just recovering from the forty nine or loss yesterday. Ah,
because watching the game is the big highlight of my
weekend and then they lose and I'm like.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
It really bummed me out and I'm not gonna lie.
At one pointed to turn it off because I was
just like, I can't, I can't.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Anyway, we're glad that you're back with us this morning.
Thanks for tuning in. Lots going on today. We have
tickets to a private screening of Taylor Swift's the official
release party of A show Girl on October fourth. That'll
be in San Francisco at an undisclosed location. Get ready
to win those, and then eight oh five this morning,
we'll have your chance at the trivia game as well,
(02:40):
So make sure you're listening to win and we'll be
back in a few It was a little misty this
morning driving to work, a little wet on the roads,
and that made me think summer's over fall this year,
and then I read that fall is by far the
number one favorite season of the year for most Americans.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
You know what's funny, growing up in Florida, when fall
would hit, you could tell because we never really got seasons.
But there was that one moment where the leaves kind
of changed.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
WANs are falling out of the trees.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Guanas are fall out of the trees. There was a
feeling in the air where it was kind of crisp
and you got a breeze, and so falls always. I
know it's not original, but falls always been my favorite
time of year.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
So in Florida, what's the temperature in the fall? Typically
early low seventies, high six. That's adorable.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
I know. I love having seasons, you know, not growing
up with them to be here and seeing that little
like I went to let my dog out this morning
and she's like, nope, it's soggy out there. Soggy.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
And even growing up here, it's like falls, like it's
not that serious. Yeah, it's not like we're in Boston
or you've worked in Minneapolis, Corey, Like that's serious. Maybe
not fall so much as winter, but you know it's
getting colder, oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
And the thing is in living in a place like that,
April rolls around, you're like, yay spring, Oh twelve inches
of snow.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Okay. So here are the things that people like most
about the fall. Number one, switch in to your cozy wardrobe. Oh,
sweater weather.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
I love sweater weather. That includes pulling out your boots.
I pulled up my boots Saturday night. I had tights
and boots.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
So fall, snuggling under a blanket, after a long day.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
I did that last night while I was watching a movie.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
The sound of rain while you're inside, My favorite's the best.
That's my jam. I'm okay with fall because of the rain.
The rain while I'm trying to drive around is horrific
because nobody around here knows how to drive in the
rain anywhere. Actually, don't put the light. They don't put
the lights on.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
That's so terrible.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
My favorite lighting seasonal candles, because you can't do a
pumpkin spice latte candle. You know.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
In August, crunchy leaves underfoot, the golden hour light hitting
the trees.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
So we're gonna fall back at the end of this
or not this month. But October's almost here, right, so
that's when we gain an hour gets darker, sooner you're
gonna get that beautiful golden light on the trees.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Talking about things people love about fall, fall being the
number one most liked season of the year. I'm more
of a summertime guy myself, as long as it doesn't
get too weird and hot, like I don't like super hot.
I'm very California like, having grown up here in my
whole life. Yeah, it's got to be around seventy two.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Well, I run hot, my husband runs hot, So we
love cold. People come to our house to stay and
they're like, it's so cold here. My sister came to visit,
and all of a sudden she comes out to the
TV room. She's got mittens on and a hat.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Tell me you live in Carlsbad without telling me live
in Carlsbad. Finally, what people love about the Fall? Top
ten things getting into bed early just because it's dark.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
And reading book maybe.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Oh God, so good to get Wait, all right, what
do you love about Fall? Let's make this a talkback moment. Yes,
that's the assignment. Leave us a quick message if you
don't mind. If you're tuned in right now in the
iHeartRadio app, you can hit the little red microphone up
in the corner and leave us a note. What do
you love about Fall? The most? It's so cute? Star
one on one three It's Marcus Acrey Monday Morning. This
(06:18):
was interesting, especially since we're both like nineties types. The
common nineties behaviors that seem inappropriate today Number one showing
up at somebody's house unannounced. This person writes that as
a kid, they would just knock on their friend's door
ask them to come play, no warning. And if somebody
showed up up my house unannounced, now I would take
it as a sign of deep disrespect.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
So you've got kids, now, you've got a pretty tight neighborhood.
Could your daughter go to somebody's house without you letting
them know she's coming? Not?
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Really, No, I mean no, no, because it could be
a waste of time for everybody. Yeah, you don't know
what's going on it. It's weird to say that out loud,
but like I'm trying to be like, Okay, if she
left and went two doors down and knock it on
the door and said can so and so come out
and play, it might actually be cute. The parents might go.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Oh, but it's not the regular thing to do, no,
because at this age she just texts.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Homeboy and be like, hey, you want to hang out?
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Oh you know, yeah, we didn't have that.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
We didn't have that at all. On that point. One
of my favorite things was you could disappear for the
whole day.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yes, on your bike, Yes, with your friends, Yes, no phone.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
No tracker, no life three sixty five or whatever it is.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
You had to go home when the street lights came on.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Yeah, you just be better be home by dark otherwise.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
And if I heard a cow bell, that would be
my mom's way of making get home, because they were
in a band, my mom and my dad, and she
played the cow bells she did, of course.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
My dad did the two finger whistled. Oh yeah, God, dude, no,
I'm thinking about it. I couldn't even let my kid
walk down the street in front of our house if
I was like, hey, go to the grocery store and
pick this up.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
No, it's a different time. Oh wow, I like this
one on here because we're talking about things you did
in the nineties you couldn't do today. Babysitting other people's
kids at the age of ten, uh huh. And it's
so true. I remember, I'm trying to think how young
I was when I first started babysitting, but I know
it was way too young. I took care of a baby,
I mean a baby, a baby baby, and I was
probably twelve. Really yeah, And I think about ten years
(08:13):
the times when the parents would come home and I'd
fall asleep because it was like after midnight. Probably shouldn't
let either one of them drive me home. They'd both
been drinking.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah, I mean, here's that.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Is just a different time, different time.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Toilet paper in your friend's house was a typical slumber
party move. Now it's a felony.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
I did it. I toilet paper at someone's house. And
then I remember one time my sister's friends came. You know,
we're all watching TV, and all of a sudden, my
sister goes somebody's teapay in our house. Right, my mom
got in her car. She chased them to a gas station.
She got out of the car and she said, you
go back and you pick up every.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Oh square, it's a little aggressive. I will say this.
Your husband, the Jeff and I kind of grew up
in the same era and both watched Rambo too many times.
Every single kid our age had the big knife right
with the with the with the screw handle, with the
fishing wire in it and everything else. Every single kid
it's reeler toy. No, it's real. Oh God, because you
(09:12):
ordered it, because you would pick up a copy of
Soldier of Fortune Medicine.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
God.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Well, our heroes were eighties action heroes.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
You could I just get you a g I Joe.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
So I was a Gi Joe. So that my point
is before we went toilet papering, you would get the
face paint from the Army Navy surplus and you would
paint your face and you would put on camo and
you would go all in. We all did that, ask
your husband?
Speaker 2 (09:35):
I will, I will. I'm just really enjoying this. The
things that you did in the nineties you can't do today.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Uh huh.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Getting a ride from someone who knew your parents but
you didn't know.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Did you ever have that happen on?
Speaker 4 (09:46):
Well?
Speaker 2 (09:46):
I used to. I remember one time I was I
slipped over at a friend's house and they didn't have
any food in their house, so her mom said, just
go to the neighbors and eat it the neighbors. And
I didn't know the neighbors. Ah, And there was like
this was the first early experience of anxiety on my
part because I was like, I don't those people. I
don't want to go to their house. I'm not sure
what's happening, right.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
I've shared this before, but like I remember being eight
years old, third grade, on a dirt bike, riding from
Stanford University across El Camino, down Middlefield, over Oregon Expressway
five miles to elementary school. No helmet for the wind.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yeah, that's not safe at all.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
And if you know the area, you're like, what, Yeah,
no way that would happen today. I would throw in
eighties too, but the common eighties nineties behaviors that seem
me inappropriate today. What do you got? I know you
got something, something you got away with back in the
day when you were a kid. You can use the
talk back on the iHeartRadio app. It's the little red microphone.
If you're streaming Star one on one three right now,
(10:43):
this is what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
It's what's trending on Star one three, what's happening in
entertainment news, the biggest stories of the day, and everything
people are talking about today. In the Babe Selena Gomez
and Benny Blanco are officially married. They got hitched in
a private ceremony. Now Vogue magazine says they think it
was at Seacrest Nursery. There were one hundred and seventy
of the couple's family and friends, including Taylor Swift.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Paul say that, like any of us know what that means?
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
That's that's where is Seacrest Nursery.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
I don't know that's just what Vogue said. I thought
maybe you'd now it's got to be monacito, right like
that was the rumor that they were going to be
a monacito. Taylor Swift was there, Paul Rudd was there,
Martin Short, Steve Martin, Paris Hilton, ed Sheeran. Gomez wore
a custom Ralph L. Lorenz satin gown with delicate embroidery,
paired with Tiffany and Company diamond earrings. Blanco chose a
(11:34):
black texedo by the same designer. They look super cute.
The photos are incredible and they look very, very happy,
and I'm really rooting for them.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Yeah, I want Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey to get
married here in the vicinity somewhere, and then I want
their children to grow up together.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
I have a feeling that they're probably going to get
married in Kansas City. You think, so, well, where does
Travis live in the off time? Well, he's from Cincinnati originally,
where's his brother? I think he's in Cincinnati, I think,
or maybe Philadelphia. Why are we doing this because it's
because that's where your brain goes and you think about
celebrities getting married. This is exciting, bad Bunny's going to
(12:13):
headline the super Bowl halftime show right here Levi Stadium,
February eighth. He says, what I'm feeling goes beyond myself.
It's for those who came before me and ran countless
yards so I could come in and score a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
This is for my.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
People, my culture, and our history. I'm excited about that.
I like Bad Bunny. He seems to not take himself
too seriously and have a great sense of humor, and
I loved him and Happy Gilmore too.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Bad Bunny come sorry. I had to.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
I watched Bullet Train the other night. I hadn't watched
it in a while, and that's the one with Brad Pitt,
and I forgot Bad Bunny's in it.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
I want to know what he and Adam Sandler discussed
in their off time, because apparently they're friends now after
the movies.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Oh, they had a great time. They had a great time.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Me too.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
That's a happy hour. I'd want to go to.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Meryl Streep went full Miranda Priestley in Milan because you know,
the sequel to Devilware's Prada is coming out May first
next year, and people were catching all the looks it
was the Dulcha and Gabana Spring twenty twenty six fashion show.
Milan Vogue reported on Miranda Priestley's presence on their ig,
noting that the legendary editor of Runway magazine, who's not
(13:25):
been seen at the show's nearly twenty years, said, rumor
has it she's cooking up a major plot twist for
the globally known Bible of Fashion. Also there Stanley Tucci
in character the tuc seated with Meryl.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
What does this mean?
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Well, it's all about promoting the movie, okay, you know,
because they're all dressed in character for Devilwar's Prada. Okay,
so she's Miranda Priesy and you know the twuoch always
makes an impression.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Loves it all right, So we'll take you back to
sports real quick. The Giants closed out their season with
a four to oh win over the Rocky swept him
for the series. Over the weekend, eighty I won eighty one,
their final record, putting him at five hundred. I went
to the game on Friday. It was amazing. Yeah, that's
so nice to be a Giants fan. We have the
(14:09):
best stadium, we have the best people. Even though the
games didn't matter. Everybody was still out there, still a
great time.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Yeah, and you've got that wonderful atmosphere and the food
and it's just great.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Routinely voted the best food in the in the MLB. Anyway,
I'm just excited to be a Giants fan. Also going on,
let's see, the Niners fell twenty six to twenty one
to the Jaguars over the weekend. We had four turnovers.
You can't win if you have four turnovers, you really can't.
We didn't deserve to win that game, if I'm being honest.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Can I just give a shout out to that catch
by Ricky Parsol your guy?
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Yeah, that's Cory's guy because he went to her alma mater, Yeah,
the University of Florida.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Yeah, I mean there was an amazing catch and oh
wait to fumble.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Yeah, I know. You know what we look ahead we do.
They're going down to La to take on the ramp
MS Thursday Night football with a kickoff at eight fifteen.
Go Niners up on the Star one one three FM Instagram.
In our stories, it is National Coffee Day. It is
uh and we have a poll up as to how
you like your coffee. What are my choices?
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Just like a classic drip? Are you an ice latte?
Are you a frappuccino? Sugary whipped sugar dessert? In a
couple day, I mean, what are your choices?
Speaker 1 (15:26):
And what a perfect day to kick off. Our new sponsor,
San Francisco Bay Coffee Company now fueling the show so
much so there is now a coffee bar right outside
the studio. Smells delicious. My life's stream has been realized
and San Francisco Bay Coffee Company amazing.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Pick up a bag next time you're out there, you go.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Guess what's what catch what's trending every weekday morning on
the fifties.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
That's six fifty seven, fifty eight fifty am in.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
Connection now with Markets and Corey everywhere at Star one
O one three FM and at Marcus.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
And Corey Well variety of the two thousand since the
nineties and today it's the Star one on one three,
it's Marcus and Corey. We're doing second Date Update its own.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Everybody deserves a partner, a companion's right, someone to just
make their day brighter. And maybe you think you found
that person, but now they've ghosted.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Hey, did you hear about the lady doing the marry
Me billboards off one on one.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
I don't know I feel about that.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
That is something.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
It's like Mary Teresa or something.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Uh yeah, Carter, would you do something like that?
Speaker 6 (16:26):
I mean, if if I really wanted to get a
girl's attention, I probably would.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
My god, thispoint, man, I had the money, I would
do it absolutely. I like your date. So let's talk
about Jenny, because I understand she has ghosted, but let's
run through it. So what did you guys do?
Speaker 6 (16:42):
So we had a beach picnic? Okay, we went, Yeah,
we went to tryan Gregorio Okay, and it was super
romantic if like, the date felt effortless. Everything was awesome.
I did the whole thing. I packed a blanket, made
us some sandwich. Is a little bottle of rose and
(17:02):
not a whole bottle, just so like a half bottle
of rose.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Crazy, very conscientious.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
Yeah, you know, I wasn't trying to make it such
a commitment looking you know, situation. But it was nice
and we walked the beach sunset walk.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
It felt great.
Speaker 6 (17:20):
Like I said, it felt effortless. It was it was perfect. Okay,
now she's not getting back to me.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Corey any thoughts.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Well, what I'm what we didn't realize is that she
is actually a psychologist and she studies serial killers. Now
she's kind of taken a break because she actually was
attacked by a serial killer and survived. But now, okay,
she's fine, She's totally fine. She just kind of takes
a break from that arena. But now there's a new
(17:48):
serial killer and the crimes are modeled on the work
of infamous previous serial killers, and so two San Francisco
police officers need her help identifying the pattern and finding
out who the murderer is and preventing another victim. So
she's really busy on these cases.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
This is why she can't call Carter.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Yes, I mean, don't you think this is more important
than dating? I guess poor Carter's just standing by. Never
mind Carter, we'll call her and ask her. It's one
of my favorites.
Speaker 6 (18:15):
I mean, I appreciate it, guys, I appreciate all the
speculation and everything are very good.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Hang on the line for a song, and you will
call Jenna next and try to get you a date. Okay,
it's second date update Star one one three variety from
the two thousands. The nineties and today it's Star one
on one three. It's Marcus and Corey doing Second Date
Update talking to Carter. I do like his data idea
old fashioned picnic on the beach. I'm here for it.
I love it. Unfortunately Jenna has ghosted, so Carter you there, Yeah,
(18:42):
I'm here. All right, We're gonna go ahead and ring
her up. So go ahead and meet your phone. Here
we go.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Helloh, may speak with Jenna? Please?
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Who's e?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Hi Jenna, It's Marcus and Corey from Star war on
one three. Hi.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
Away, Well that's nice.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Tell your friends Hi.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
Hi, Hi.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Hey, So, uh do you listen to second eight update?
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Oh no, oh yes, yes, Second Date up day with us?
Yeah that's fine.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Oh good, So Carter's listening. Carter might as well. Carter, Hey,
what's up?
Speaker 6 (19:32):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (19:32):
All right? Here we go easy. So Jenna, I heard
it was a very romantic beach date. Would he'd love
to take you out again? What's going on? Did you ghost?
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Any?
Speaker 2 (19:43):
And?
Speaker 4 (19:43):
I guess you could call it romance?
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Okay, what would call it?
Speaker 6 (19:49):
So?
Speaker 4 (19:49):
I call a border with it a little creepy?
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
We go to the beach and you know, the picnic
is a very nice sweet idea. My man brings a
blue Chios fee and puts on boys to men, I'll
make love to you.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
On the beach.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
On the beach, okay, the only one there by the way,
And was this playing loud enough that other people could hear?
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Oh yeah?
Speaker 4 (20:17):
And then he tries to slow dance with me in
the sand.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Oh yeah, No, it's not no, it's not cute. That's
like date number six.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Maybe I feel like it was super staged and like
really cheesy, and I'm like, how many times do you
run this?
Speaker 2 (20:39):
You know this is your go to.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
I was just trying to set the mood. The timing
felt right, everything felt right to do that, and wasn't
trying to be creepy or give you the ick.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
I gave you the eck. And dude, I mean he
carved our initials into the sand with a stick and
called it our spot.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
It's a little much for the first date. I mean,
my husband didn't get carver our names in the sand
until we were planning our engagement invitation.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Mind myself, it's a first date. Okay, No, so.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
The first date and then you go to the car
to grab something and you come back smelling like a
department store worth of cologne and like, come on, dude.
Speaker 6 (21:23):
I mean, I was just trying to be romantic. I
was just trying to like, stay fresh, Jenna.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
It sounds like he really likes you. What if we
pump the brakes a little bit now that now that
we know.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
How many girls does he do it?
Speaker 1 (21:37):
How many times has this worked? I don't know.
Speaker 6 (21:40):
I've never done this in my life. I thought the
bluetooth speaker was a good idea, I you know, I
was like just looking up date ideas online what to do,
and this was what I came up with. I thought
it was nice to carve our initials in the sand,
play a little bit of music.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
I don't know, so I think you're very I think
that it's just a lot off the bat and maybe
not as genuine as she like. If you're looking up
ideas well, looking up ideas, well, you don't use all
of them all at once on the first day.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Right, exactly, like the beach picnic.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Was fine, leave it there, okay, So so no second
day or no, no, no, that's that's.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
A hard no.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
All right, hang on hard now, that's a hard no.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Sometimes you get excited. Not that I've ever been there, but.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Well, you know, just you get excited and then pair
it down a bit.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Second eight updates seven oh five weekday mornings. You got
your replay at nine oh five. Got the podcast as
you know. On the iHeartRadio app, you can go seek
out Marcus and Corey's second Date Update. Please subscribe, set
a preset all the things, Thank you in advance. More
variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's
Star one on one three It's Marcus and Corey seven
to seventeen. We've talked about this on the show before,
(22:56):
but it rears its head every once in a while.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Uh, the topic is unintentional insults. So think about it.
Something somebody has said to you that maybe they meant well,
not backhanded compliments. I feel like these are for some reason,
I feel like these are different.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
These are just unfiltered comments that I don't think were
thought through, and I don't think it's.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Mean or You had two instances over the weekend right.
One of them was directed you, one of them directed
at somebody else.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
So one of my friends was wearing this really beautiful
dress and I said, that's such a great dress. You
look fantastic, and she said, Oh, it's so funny. One
of my coworkers told me this is a bad color
for my skin, and I went.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
I mean, would you not want to hear that though?
Speaker 2 (23:40):
But you're already out, you're already at the event.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Oh, they said it at the event.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
There's nothing you can do, you can't change.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Yeah, because now you're just in my head.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Now you're in my head now again. Great, I don't
look good for the rest of the night.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Like for example, the wife asked me how I felt
about her shoes. She wore some really neat kind of
wedges and lovely. But I would tell be honest with you, you
had it doesn't really work.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
But you tell that to me before I leave the house,
because there's nothing I can do about it when I'm
out and about.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Now, let me ask you something because I did it
to a friend of mine. You know, I had my
birthday party about a week and a half ago, and
she showed up at the house. This was my birthday partner.
We do this party together, and she was wearing a
wonderful outfit and then just some worn out maroon moccasins
because they were comfortable.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
There's a lot of different comfortable shoes.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
And I said to her and I and part of
me was like, Marcus, don't say anything, Marcus, don't say anything.
But I said, the outfit is great. The shoes don't
do you any favors.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Did she have the opportunity to change, yes, because it
was a week before. Okay, But am I being a
jerk when I do that?
Speaker 6 (24:46):
No?
Speaker 2 (24:46):
I would rather have somebody tell me the truth. But
it doesn't do many favors. If I'm already out at
the event.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
I can't say terrible. Now now you're in my head, right,
that's terrible.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
So not too long after that comment, I was talking
to someone and they said, I really like your hair
because I'm I'm transitioning, so I've kind of put some
highlights in it and it's all different tones. And I said, well,
you know, I'm working towards blonde, not full on blonde,
but kind of like different tones and whatnot. Oh yeah,
(25:17):
your complexion, you can't do that. It was so so final.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
To be fair, she's also very Irish, so if she
feels connected to you, maybe, yes, I agree with that.
Maybe your skin tone does not fit blonde hair. I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
It was the finality of it.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
It was the Nope, no, no, you're not doing that's
not my mom.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
I pulled out my phone and I said, don't you
remember when I first got here, I was blonde?
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Yeah, look good. I liked it.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
And then I showed a couple other pictures of me
as a blonde. She's like, Oh, maybe you can't pull
it off.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Maybe it's you. Maybe you can't. Can I ask you something?
So we have a coworker who has red hair, and
he continually wears pink shirts, red shirts, and it doesn't work.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
I disagree with you, really because I know what you're
talking about.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
Do you think it works?
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (26:10):
I think with his pink cheeks, I don't think pink works.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
I've never looked at that outfit and that hair and
that skin tone and thought, no, show it. You and
I have different opinions about how things look and and
uh no, that's never stuck out to me. But it's
interesting that you it's stuck out to you.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
So we're talking about unintentional insult. Unintentional insults. You know,
my gran my Grammy was the queen. I will close
on this one now. Granted I got to give her
a pass. One more you go.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
I love it when I meet somebody in public and
they don't know what I really look like, and they're like,
you're not that fast. Okay, now you go.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
So my Grammy used to say, and you know, I
have cerebral palsy, and she would she would say, you know, Marcus,
you've done quite well for yourself despite your affliction.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
You never should have told me that story. Is any
chance I get? Any chance I got? I'm like, Marcus,
you've done quite well.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Despite all right, Pete Grammy, I love you, But God,
that story is just the gift that keeps on giving.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
If you can't laugh, what else are you gonna do?
Speaker 1 (27:22):
All right, unintentional insults the perfect talkback moment. It's too good,
all right, we got we gotta focus. Star one on
one three. It's time for good news with Marcus and Corey.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
Sometimes all you need is one a good thought to
make it a great day. So let's do this.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
It's good news on Star one one three, too.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Good news twice in morning. It's seven forty and eight forty,
just to make you feel good, make you smile a
little bit. It's brought to you by Shriven Company Luxury
time pieces, find is and flawless diamonds and this little boy,
Grant did the most selfless thing and we have to
celebrate he's nine years old. For his birthday, he did
a very special thing.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Very cute. So he volunteers with his dad at a
local recreation center for people with special needs. And so
when his parents asked him what he wanted to do
for his ninth birthday, he chose to make his celebration
about others rather than himself. So instead of asking for
presents or games, he asked if he could invite everyone
from the local center to his party.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Yeah, he just wanted to make everybody feel valued and included. Yes,
and you know what that is?
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Too?
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Good kid, great parenting.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
His father said that volunteering together has been an important
part of their lives and he believes it helps children
learn compassion at an early age, and inspired by this spirit,
Grant wanted to make sure people to center, who he
says don't often get invited to birthdays, could feel included
and loved.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
You're my hero, Grant. Nice work, Very strong.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Turned into a celebration of kindness in community because Grant's
party brought joy not only to the birthday boy, but
also as guests.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
One hundred percent, no one left out. I love it.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
I love it too.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
That's our good news. More variety from the two thousands,
the nineties, and today, it's Star one on one three.
