Letting Your Kids Plan Your Vacation
  • New research suggests that allowing your kids to have a say in planning a family vacation is the way to make it better.
  • According to a new survey, 82% of parents say their best trips happened when their kids helped with planning it.
  • That may be why 22% have actually let their school-age child plan every detail of a vacation.⠀
  • Moms and dads have learned that when kids are involved in planning, they help with activities (89%), and restaurants (54%), and make sure that the trip involves things their kid likes (76%).
  • And the kids are up for the task, as 86% of them want to be more involved in planning family vacations and 53% want to plan as much of the trip as possible.
  • So, what would a kid’s dream vacation look like? It would include having a meet-and-greet with their favorite celebrity (34%), sitting in the front row of their favorite artist’s concert (29%) or having backstage access at that show (27%).
  • Riding on an amusement park parade float is another top choice (26%), along with having a meet-and-greet with their favorite cartoon characters (24%), or sitting in the front row at a professional sports game (20%).
  • To turn a regular trip into a dream getaway, kids also want to go to fun restaurants (54%), have a chance to swim (51%), and do outdoor activities (49%).
  • Some kids dream big, with their ultimate dream trip including a 13-day-journey across six states and five countries on an epic road trip (60%), a flight (57%) and a cruise (33%).
  • Even parents who aren’t letting their kid plan an entire vacation want to get their input and 84% say they try to take inspiration from their kids’ imagination when creating a vacation.

How To Avoid Post-Vacation Blues
  • Before you leave - Tidy up your home. Clean your sheets, empty the trash, and clear the fridge, so you get to return home to a welcoming space instead of chaos.
  • After you return - Give yourself a day (or two) to unpack and reset before diving back into work and obligations.
  • Keep the joy alive - Plan little treats like a night out, a new recipe, or a cozy evening at home to recreate those memorable vacation moments.
  • Listen to the blues - If your mood lingers or you think it might be a sign of some bigger issues, consider what changes you might need to make, and reach out for help if it feels like it’s more than just a passing slump.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
at Star one O one three it's Marcus and Corey
at six three Tuesday, Good morning, Tuesdays going on. Corey,
Corey had a rough night last night.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
That's so weird, Like like I was a regular night,
nothing nutty going on, and then as soon as we
went to bed, it was tossing turning hot cold hot cold.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Oh and that little girl, my littlest dog, when she
sleeps in that.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Bed, little Corky, you better not.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Move in her direction because she's.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Like, does she get all cranky?

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Don't move?

Speaker 1 (00:35):
I wonder who she learned that from her older brother, Stuart,
probably the big sack of potatoes who can't even get
in the bed.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Well, Jeff bought stairs now that Loki's gone, Jeff got
stairs for Stu and he he refuses to use them,
and she won't use them.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
So does he get into the bed or did you
just whine until somebody picks him up?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Oh, he sleeps on, he sleeps on a bed.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
He doesn't Yeah, Okay, he doesn't get it.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I think Jeff is hoping the stairs would make things
easier because his bed's in front of our bed. And
then she has to leap over him, and there's no
leaping over the sausage.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Just a cavalcade of hilarity. At your house, it's like
a farm.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
There's just a little less fegal matter in the.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Back of cheese. I was telling Corey off the air,
I made one of my favorite dishes last night. It's
a Chinese steamed fish, and the sauce you take, you
heat oil, and then what I do is I like
to fry the garlic and ginger in the oil before
pouring it on the fish. Traditionally, you're supposed to lay

(01:41):
out green onions and garlic and ginger and then pour
the oil over that. But I like to fry my
stuff first because it mutes it and it flavors the oil.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
And it seems like it would be very salty sweet.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Yes, because then you augment that with a soy sauce
sake with a touch of agave just to even out
the saltiness. And boy is it good.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
It sounds amazing. I just feel like, Wow, that's not
a work.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
For Monday night black cod. It's actually very easy. And
the reason I bring it up is if you're at
your house and you don't like fish, or you don't
eat fish. I was that way for a long time.
Check out black cod or if it's sustainable, because it
isn't always sustainable, Chilean sea bass. Both of those are

(02:24):
very forgivable fish and they're delicious and they will make
you like fish. Okay, just putting that out there.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
I would like to try that.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
And if you're looking for sustainable sources for fish, the
Monterey Bay Aquarium has a great app that is not
a plug.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Oh that's no, that's a really good tip.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
All right, what's coming up? So?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Disney tickets, dude.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Seven thirty five and eight thirty five your chance for
the four pack of tickets for the Disneyland resort we
want to send you so you can celebrate their seventieth
anniversary with all kinds of.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Happy Oh it sounds like such a dream.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Get ready to talk back for tickets twice again this
morning against seven thirty five and eight thirty five. Variety
from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's Star
one oh one three. It's Marcus and Corey Tuesday, Good morning.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Hello.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
They did a gigantic survey surveying over two thousand adults,
asking them about what they call little luxuries. Okay, most
common little luxuries, the most loved little luxuries, and then
things that used to be a luxury that aren't anymore. Okay,
where to begin? The top ten most common little luxuries.
Number one peace and quiet.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Ooh, I like that definitely.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Number two high speed internet. Yes, remember back of the
day when we didn't have high speed internet, but just
having internet was cool.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
I mean, my mom's internet was so slow.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Usually it would bottom out before we could even get online.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
But you couldn't even use it if somebody was using
the phone.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Right.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Good quality coffee Okay, my husband feels very strongly about
that next day delivery coupled with grocery delivery. Love that
love That little grocery delivery is the best, isn't it. Yes,
I didn't have trust issues with somebody else buying my
good quality skincare. Oh that's important. Here's a little luxury.
A TV show with no ads. I remember those days

(04:09):
when everybody rolled out their streaming service and they're like, hey,
we're not like cable. We don't have commercials.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Oh wait, now we do.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Robot vacuum cleaners.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Those are the best.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Air fryers those are great too. I'll give you my
little luxury. That is such a necessity now, but I
find it to be the greatest invention of our generation.
Google Maps. Really, you remember life before you could just
get on your phone, plug in an address, and mindlessly
drive there, even if you're on vacation in another city,

(04:40):
and act like you've been there your whole life.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Dude, I drove from Florida to Minnesota with paper Yahoo Maps.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Well, you're amazing.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
No, I'm saying it's so much easier now.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
If we had gone to Montreal because I didn't realize
all the street signs and all the traffic signs were
in French. If we had driven to Montreal without maps,
I think I might have turned around and gone back
to Vermont. I'd have been like, nah, I'm cool. It
really is incredible now. Things that used to be a
luxury that aren't anymore. Air travel, oh yeah, owning a

(05:14):
personal computer, Oh, I'll couple that with owning a cell phone. Okay,
owning a big screen TV.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Apparently fast food used to be considered a luxury. I
guess so. I guess you know when we were kids,
like you didn't do McDonald's all the time. No, that
was a special treat. Yeah, all right, So give us
your favorite little luxury and it can be an item,
or it can be a state of mind. Not answering
the phone. Yeah, that's my little luxury, not being expected

(05:41):
to be available immediately. Somebody texts you. Maybe I'll get
back to you in a couple of days.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Give me a minute.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Let us know what your thoughts are on this. Hit
us with a talkback on the iHeartRadio app that little
red microphone. If you're streaming Star one on one three
right now, a variety from the two thousands, the nineties,
and today it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus
and Corey. Good morning. Hi saw something interesting new research
suggesting that one out of four parents is allowing their
elementary school child to plan their entire summer vacation, every

(06:10):
last detail.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Okay, you have to give me some parameters. Are they
given a budget? And if they say I want to
spend my entire time at Legoland, you have to do that.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Before we get into the details, can we just marvel
in the fact that, in twenty twenty five, to me,
as a parent of an eleven year old girl, this
makes total sense. In nineteen ninety five. This would have
been considered progressive in nineteen eighty five. This is unheard of.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
I was talking to my friend Kim the other day
about that, and she's like, when we went on vacation,
you got in the car and you shut your mouth
and they laught actly right.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
We were not consulted where we were going.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
No uh uh. And I'll tell you what if the
destination did not include a family member a free place
to stay. Oh yeah, we most meals handled at the house. Yeah,
we were pro we were poor. We couldn't go anywhere.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
We stayed at a cabin in North Carolina a few
different summers, and that's where one of those places where
it's bare bones, you buring your own food.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Can your imagined if we got to go horseback riding?

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Can you imagine your dad announces you're going back to
the cabin. You're like, Dad, I don't want to go
to the cabin. What would have happened in that moment?

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Well, you have reaby to wake up.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
I mean we're laughing, but not laughing.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Well, I mean no, it wasn't a physical thing, but
it was like, this is what we're doing.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
We did this last year. So we're talking about letting
your child help to plan your summer vacation.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Helping to plan is different than what you said at
the beginning. You said at the beginning, they plan every
's one out of four, one out of four parents,
I wouldn't do this. They surveyed over two thousand parents.
One out of four said, yeah, my kid planned every
last detail. During school.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
My daughter did a report on Vermont, okay, and then
announced she'd like to go to Vermont for summer vacation.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I appreciate that curiosity, though, because she picked that destination
based on an actual school project.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Correct, and her mom has always wanted to go to
the Cabin cheese factory. She's always wanted to go to
Ben and Jerry's mother ship. So we did it, and
I said, way, if we're going to Vermont, we might
as well go to Boston. Let's fly to Boston and
hang out. Dad wants to go to Boston. I want
to see a baseball game. Let's go. Oh, as long
as we're like ninety minutes south of Montreal, why don't
we go to Canada?

Speaker 2 (08:09):
I think great, it's a good because it was like
you guys all were in it together.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
She wanted to go to Vermont. You wanted to go
to Boston. Your wife wanted to go to the cheese place.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
But then I thought to myself, when I was a kid,
nobody looked at me and went, oh, you just did
a book report on Northern Ireland. Let's go to Belfast
this summer. When you say nobody did that for me.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
I was lucky if we went Ruby Mining.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
That's what I'm saying. You know where we're going this year,
Sutter's Fort, and you're gonna have a good time.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Go to Weekie Watchee. We're gonna watch the Mermaids.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
There's a really nice holiday inn in North Weed. We'll
see you there.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
I think there's a chucky cheese resort and golf place.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Now, if you're gonna let your child plan your vacation,
obviously there have to be parameters, because according to this survey,
what is a kid's dream vacation. I'll run through this
really quick. This is a slightly ridiculous A kid's dream
vacation would include a meet and greek with their favorite celebrity. Oh,
sitting in the front row of their favorite artist concert. Oh,
or having backstage access at said show.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Oh, so your parents are millionaires.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Yes, Okay, now, Mom, I want to go to Disneyland.
But what is a perfect day at Disneyland. It starts
with a ride on a float in the parade. Oh,
you get to be in the parade? Yes, and then
a meet and greet with my favorite character you.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
This reminds me of when MTV did that show My
Super Sweet Sixteen.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Yes. So if you're listening and your child and you're
looking at your parents going hey, let me help out,
understand there are parameters, and there are budgets limits, They'll
be spreadsheets. This is what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (09:38):

Although no one wants to think about Staf Curry retiring
from basketball, the day will come eventually. There's this special
that's going to be out that he's doing it's going
to come out tomorrow, and he talks about making a
run at the PGA Tour after playing basketball and also
says that he would be more than happy to consider
a role on TV after the NBA.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
So this TV special is Kurry Inc.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
The Business of Steph Curry, the thirty seven year old
basketball star and scratch golfer.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
I dig him a lot. He seems like a really
good human. I don't know him. I have met his wife,
I have met his sister. They speak so highly of him.
Helped the one day meet him. But I wish I
got nothing but success.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
What a good dude, And yeah, I get it. You
know there's going to come a time when you got
to hang up your shoes.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
So see if he's got one more season we can
squeeze out of him that.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Like I said, that special is tomorrow. Okay, where was I?

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Oh Taylor Swift, this is awesome, So we told you yesterday. However,
the weekend she got her master recordings back. She brought
them back all of her first six albums, and some
Swifties claimed that the celebration extended all the way up
to their eras tour merch. According to a fan, the
bracelets from the tour lit up as soon as she

(11:17):
made the announcement. When TikToker said, my bracelet from the
Aras tour is lighting up, she did it, and others said,
welcome to my era's tour, whisper and glowing.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
They can't confirm that she did that, but that seems
quite the coincidence. She hasn't commented on it.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
It seems like quite the Taylor Swift thing to do, totally,
and then everybody got a free kitten.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Mark Hamill, who.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
You famously know as Luke Skywalker, has said that he
will not be participating in any more future Star Wars projects,
even as a Force Ghost, which I have no idea
what that is, but you know, he was involved in
a lot of the rise of Skywalker in these movies.
But he's like, you know, think it's time to hang
up my maya. What is it called a saber? A

(12:06):
light sab, light saber, trying to hang up a light saber?

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Sure. The Surf Writer Foundation has released their list of
the beaches with the most bacteria in the US.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Oh I love surf Rider by the way.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Oh, it's a great foundation. It's fantastic we have. I'm
counting three in California. One right here in the Bay
as Lindamar Beach in PACIFICA makes is number five. Oops,
something to be aware of. Number one on the list
was Kayluhu in Oahu, Hawaii. I'm sure I pronounced that incorrectly.

(12:38):
And then the other one in California. Of note, well,
there's one in San Diego Imperial Beach, but then also
the San Luis Creek Mouth in Avla Beach, which is
not too far from here.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Do they say why they have more than other people?

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Just a very high concentration of bacteria. A lot of
times it has to do with you know, just bacteria
in general, and just dirty water, but also weather can
nditions that foster bacteria when the water's too warm, for example.
Stuff to think about. Uh, this is interesting. It's a
move that's already raising many red flags. Tender is testing

(13:12):
on a new feature that lets users screen for potential
matches based on height, and I think that's.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Well, yeah, but this way you avoid getting catfish when
someone says they're six to two and they're five to nine.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
I think it's discriminatory. Oh really, Okay, well, let's throw
a filter on for weight, Then let's throw a filter
on for IQ.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
How many times have we done second date update?

Speaker 2 (13:34):
And that's one of the reasons they ghosted is because
you're not getting.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
What you were I mean, but why is setting a
filter for height okay, and setting a filter for weight,
for example, would not be you know how much they
say they weren't going to do that, how much blowback
there would be? Also fun fact, Hinge has already done this.
So I don't know why everybody's mad at Tinder. But
I don't know it is this interesting. I'm wondering what
people's thoughts are because if I find this to be

(13:58):
very discriminatory against my short kings, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Gosh, you know you think about all these filters. All
of a sudden, your your rat got smaller. All of
a sudden, you're tan and you didn't used to be.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
I mean, think of all the filter you're talking about
different types of filters.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Though?

Speaker 1 (14:17):
All right, we'll go to the sports desk. The Giants
started a four game series against San Diego last night
at Oracle. They lost one to nothing. As we continue
to struggle offensively. First pitch on tonight's game, is six
forty five almost a goat's all. Guess what's guess what's
self catch what's trending every weekday morning on the fifties.
That's six fifty seven fifty AM and.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Connection now with Marcus and Corey everywhere at Star one
O one three FM, and I'm.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Marcus and Corey Ranty from the two thousands, the nineties
and today it's Star one on one three It's Marcus
and Corey and we're back with second Date Update once
again today just.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Trying to figure out if we can get you a
second date or not. You went on a first date
and you thought it was swell.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Now you're not get a second date.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Let's bring on Greg. Greg. Hello, I heard you had
a good weekend, my man, Yeah, I thought I did. Right.
Let's talk about Lissa. How did you guys meet? And
then like, what did you guys do? Well?

Speaker 4 (15:16):
We met online and most of our conversation was done
through DMS. That's how we communicated until we met up
in person. So that went on for a little while.
That was great. We really think the bonds and maybe
not even bond, but like had a lot of things
in common and it was really fun. It was awesome.
I was excited about it. You know how the online
thing is, so I wasn't this sounds so tacky. But

(15:37):
I wasn't sure about the photos. I wasn't sure if
they were going to match up, you know, like anything else.
I'm guilty that.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
I'm sure it's gotta be tough. I gotta imagine it's
tough getting cat fist.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
Yeah, look, that wasn't the case. We met up and
the pictures met you know, they lined up with the person.
We had a great time, and at least I thought
we did.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
And then nothing, What did you guys do?

Speaker 4 (16:00):
We went out to a bar, went not just for
some early afternoon like just happy hour stuff. She sat
and talked and a little bit of a walk. It
was nothing too crazy, but enjoyable and fun, I thought.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
And now here we are. Here's what I'm thinking. Please, yeah, Corey,
please share.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Melissa witnessed a crime, so she's forced to relocate to
a convent to hide, and there she takes on the
choir and gets an audience.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
With the pope. Ooh uh, sister act.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Maybe if that's it, that'd be great.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
You just gotta wait for her to come out of hiding.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Yeah, that's it. That's all we gotta do. I'll tell
you what. We're gonna call her. Greg going to call
her and try to it sounded like a good time
to me. Can you hang on the line for a song?

Speaker 5 (16:49):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yeah, Okay, we're gonna play a song and then we're
gonna have you mute up and then we're gonna call
this and see what's really going on. Okay, Second Date
update Star one O one three or variety from the
two thousands ninety. He said today it's Star one on
one three, it's Marcus and Corey. We're doing second date
update right now. When chatting with our guy Greg about
his date with Lissa. Yeah, and it's real simple, just

(17:09):
a happy hour. Y'all went to a bar. Is that correct?

Speaker 4 (17:12):
Yeah? Correct? Yeah, we went to a bar, hung out.
I had some great conversation for a little bit of
a walk, Like I said, really lovely day. Yeah, it
was really nice.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
And she has ghosted I I have not fast or
anything since.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Okay, well, we're gonna get down to the bottom of this.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
The brass tacks if you will. Okay, go ahead and
meet your phone. Let's see if we can get her
on the phone. Here we go.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Hello, Hi, Ma, you speak with Lisa. Please?

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Hi Lissa, It's Marcus and Corey from Star one one three.

Speaker 1 (17:53):

Greg said he had a really good time, said that
you guys had a really great happy hour and a
nice walk.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
We just want to know why you're not getting.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Back to him. Yes, he's feeling ghosted. So did you
ghost or what's the story?

Speaker 6 (18:45):
I mean kind of, it's just we did have a
good time. He's a great guy, but it's just he's
just not my type. And I just I didn't really
know how to say it and felt so stupid the
thing that was bothering me, So I felt was just
better not to say it.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
Thing.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Can you elaborate a little bit?

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Why is he not your type?

Speaker 6 (19:05):
Okay, so a slightly embarrassing. He's great, but it was
just a major turn off to me because he showed
up in shorts, which you know, was a nice day.
The shorts is not a problem. It was the fact
that his legs were shining, like because we're out in
the sun. We sat outside doing happy hour, we took
a walk. His legs were shining, and it looked like
he showed his legs and then it looked like he

(19:26):
put some sort of motion on them. And I just
I couldn't. I couldn't deal with it. I like Harry
mint and I asked him and he said he waxes.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Okay, that was the last straw for me.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
And I'm really sorry, but like, not only do you shave,
but you wax and you prune your eyebrows. Like I
just it was just he's just a little two put
together for me. I like them, Harry. I like them, Harry,
I like, I don't know, kind of grizzly. I like beards.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
So just it was a turn off, like a little
a little bit more rugged or.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
With because I like that my man, you know, trims
and takes care of himself.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Same with my lady. But Greg, if I may, yeah,
gregor you a swimmer.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
Recreationally, Yeah, I'm on a couple like recommends leagues in
the summer. But I mean mostly overall, I just kind
of like to take care of myself. I don't know,
I just I've never been into being super haired pretty
sitting hair up top anyways, So I've never really Yeah,
I'd like to take care of myself. I like to

(20:37):
look nice.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
I appreciate that. But you know, my sister and I
are very different. Like she likes a guy who hasn't
watched his towel in like two weeks.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Wow, she did it.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Once dated a guy his nickname was Nasty Mike. Oh god, yeah, Mike,
Nasty Mike took a turn? Is it Benigan's When we
worked at Benigans when I was in high school?

Speaker 1 (20:57):
He was a cook.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Yeah, yeah, no, that's I'm not trying to give listener
anybody paint guys from towels or anything, right, just like I'm.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Not trying to pass the sad infection. No, Okay, Honestly,
sounds like we have a difference of types. Sure, as
Lissa said, now I get it. Is this something, listen
that you can overlook just based on the date that
you had. I mean, the deeps seem cool.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
Yeah, no, he is cool, and I appreciate that he
takes care of himself. It's just not for me, Like
I just can't deal with a man who waxes his leg.
I want to feel something there, So it's not a
match for me.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Got to hang on, hang on, that wasn't gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
Everybody has their own thing.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Yes, one hundred percent, all right. Second Date Update seven
oh five. Weekday Mornings replays it nine oh five. Please
subscribe to the podcast on the iHeartRadio app literally called
Marcus and Corey Second Day Update. In fact, I would
suggest setting a preset as well, which you can you
can do, which is pretty awesome. It's all brand new,
more variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one oh one three, it's Marcus and Corey.

(22:05):
It's seven to twenty. To continue to talk about vacations
because everybody's either has theirs plan or maybe next month
you're going, maybe the kids are out of school in
a few days and you're headed out. How do you
avoid the I just came back from vacation blues.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
It's very exciting because we haven't been anywhere in forever.
When I say forever, our passports didn't expire per se.
They expired for so long we had to reapply for
brand new passports. That's how long it's been.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
What was the last time you actually took a trip.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
I'm thinking it was when we were like a.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Big trip, right, because we've been to Vegas and stuff,
But we went on a cruise out of Galveston, Texas
and it was it was just a blast.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Two thousand and six, twenty ten. Okay. So the reason
we bring it up is because Corey and her husband
are going to Paris in a few weeks. And how
do you void having the blues when you get back?

Speaker 3 (23:02):
It's hard.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
I remember having the blues when I got back from
my wedding Eat Coble r.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Rivera, Maya. You planned so much going into it.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
And then it's over in a flash and you come
back and you're like, I got to go back to work.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
So one of the things on this list that I
love is after you get back, give yourself a day
or two. Don't come back the night before you have
to go back to work. Sometimes easier said than done,
I get that, right, But you need a couple of
days to unwind.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Yeah, especially if you're like traveling very far.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
I said to my husband, I'm like, when we plan
this trip, I need at least one to two days
to kind of adjust because the time difference, and I'm
a delicate, sensitive flower.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
One of the things I love doing taking a week
to go on a trip and then having the luxury
of having a second week to come back and decompress
and get stuff done. I think that's pretty awesome.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
One of the things I really like on this list
is leaving your house and a tidy manner.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Oh that my wife's number one rule. When it's all
of us leaving, dishes have to be clean. Yeah, make
sure the beds clean. Make sure because when you get
home and your house is clean, oh so good. Now,
when it's one of those situations where I'm meeting them
at the airport because I have to work and I
leave the house after them, I don't have any boundaries,

(24:22):
so chances are they're going to be dirty dishes in
the sink. Well, that's just I gotta be better.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
We're very lucky because my husband's in laws are flying
in to take care of the dogs.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Yeah, it's super lucky. Yeah, Now, do you throw them
out immediately after you get back, or you can you
entertain for a couple of days.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Well, they're gonna come a couple of days ahead, uh huh,
and they're gonna stay a couple of days after.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Okay, so yeah, because then I haven't seen them in forever.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
So other real quick tips on how to avoid the
post vacation blues. Keep the vacation alive. Maybe you learned
a new recipe whilst on the road. Maybe you can
recreate some of those moments from vacation at your house
with stuff that you got, I don't know, trinkets and things.
I got a tiny replica of the Eiffel Tower.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Let's have dinner in front of it.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
And then, as always, listen to your body. Yeah, if
the mood lingers, it might be indicative of a different issue. Yeah,
just see what feels right. Anyway, there you go. I
love that. It's time for good news with Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Sometimes all you need is the one a good thought
to make it a great day.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
So let's do this. It's good news on Star one.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
You had good news twice in the morning, and this
hour we have a dog story.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Oh we do.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
You're gonna love this. This is a rescue out of
grass Valley, which is kind of a by Sacramento. Yesh,
This is a team that rescued a teen and their
dogs that got trapped in an abandoned well. Oh no,
the story of a fifteen years Saturday. It happened a
fifteen year old got stuck basically in an abandoned mine
shaft because a couple of the doggies had fallen in

(26:06):
the mine shaft. So the kid climbed down fifteen to
twenty feet and then couldn't get out.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
Yeah, you got to make a plan for that.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
So a couple of a couple of agencies teamed up
the Nevada County Consolidated Fire District in the Grass Valley
Fire Department and perform what they call a vertical rope
rescue complex rigging, and they grabbed the team. No problem,
doggies were okay, just a little bit of dehydration. I'm

(26:37):
sure everybody's fine. Wow. And they're reminding people to report
abandoned shafts and avoid unsafe structures.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
Be careful just because you know you don't want to
hurt yourself trying to rescue somebody else. Correct, So maybe
try and get help before you crawl down the tunnel.
You know as much as my first is instinct would
be to go down the tunnel immediately, immediately, Corey would
just jump way uh. And this made the New York
Post so like National News out of Grass Valley.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
There you go. More variety from the two thousands, the nineties,
and today it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus
at Corey time to play the bass favorite trivia game.
This is called what you Know About That.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
We have got a four pack of general admission tickets
to check out the Toyota save Mark three fifty at
Snowmrace wage July thirteenth. Wine Country becomes the ultimate racing
destination once again as NASCAR makes their only trip to
California for the Toyota save Mark three fifty.
