Thoughts Shift That Will Change Your Perspective:
Perspective really is powerful. We can be our own worst enemies and get in our own way. All it can take is a different way of thinking to help us overcome that obstacle.
  1. Instead of saying “I’m not ready” say “No one really is”
  2. Stop calling it procrastination, start calling it fear
  3. Ditch the guilt spiral
  4. Instead of saying “What if it goes wrong?” say “What if it’s worth it?”
  5. Drop the idea that self-sabotage is about “low self-esteem”
  6. Stop romanticizing the struggle
  7. Stop defining yourself by past mistakes
  8. Stop thinking you need to “find your purpose”
  9. Consider fear a sign you’re close to something big
  10. Let go of the idea that “consistency” means doing it perfectly

Questions To Ask Before Traveling With Your Pet: If you’re planning on traveling with your pup this summer, there’s a lot of planning involved. It’s a popular trend with globalvetlink.com finding that “78-percent of American pet owners travel with their pets each year.”
  • Are there dog-friendly accommodations?
  • Would my dog enjoy this destination?
  • Is the climate safe and comfortable for a dog?
  • How long is the trip and how will they handle the transportation there?
  • Can I bring everything I need to keep them safe and happy away from home?
  • Is transit accessible to dogs?
  • What are the rules, requirements and restrictions?
  • Will there be easy access to veterinary care and other canine services?

Once A Cheater, Always A Cheater
A study followed close to 2-thousand participants over three years, having them play a series of games that measured dishonesty. According to the results, cheating isn’t just the result of a mistake, it’s a part of someone’s personality that never goes away.
When participants played games they were told study authors couldn’t check to see whether their response was truthful or not.
  • They could get away with lying about their answers and no one would know, and it turns out, many of them did. Over and over again over the three-years.
  • Researchers found that if someone cheated in the first game, they were way more likely to cheat in the second and third games.
  • Those who cheated were a lot more likely to do it again, no matter what the stakes or context were.
  • But the reverse was also true, those who were honest in game one were much more likely to be honest in the other games.
Study authors found two big predictors of chronic dishonesty: low scores in something called “Honesty-Humility” and high scores in the “Dark Factor,” which is a combination of narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy personality traits. They also found if someone lies easily and often, it might just be who they are and not a momentary lapse in judgment.

Reagan and Tim had dinner in downtown Martinez. Reagan can't think of anything that would have turned Tim off on the date. However, she may have done something after the date.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's more variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and

(00:02):
today it's Star one on one three, it's Marcus and Corey. Thursday,
just before six o'clock. What's happening?

Speaker 2 (00:07):
It's Friday?

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Easy, Yes it is. How are you, Corey?

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I'm good.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
You know, things are getting better, you know, just after
last week and everything with you, last week, with our dog,
and every day gets a little easier. And I'm really
feeling motivated today. I want to get stuff done. I
want to purge. I'm looking around our house and I
said to my husband last night. I was like, you know,
the in laws are coming next weekend, and I'm ready.

(00:32):
I don't want this house to look like a hoarder house.
And my husband goes, we live in a microloft, which
what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
It's tiny? He doesn't like. How small are I love?

Speaker 1 (00:42):
How two thousand square feet is tiny? Two people? If
it's two thousand, it might be eighteen hundred.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Well, you have to realize what we came from. And
ore again. I know, and also that he's you know,
a giant.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
You dinks are hard to please and you're not small
pe No.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
We're not small people.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
So so but I want to make some room, get
rid of some stuff like exercise equipment. It's just sitting
in the garage not being used and mocking me.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Laundry hangars we call them.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Oh yeah, yeah, So there's that, right, were motivated today.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
We are doing a topic this morning at six thirty.
Stuff in your bathroom to throw out? Now, love that stuff,
getting Corey all juice stuff, Yeah, get into that coming up.
We just got what arguably I would call the strangest
piece of correspondence I think of my entire career. And
this came a snail mail. It was a card. I
opened it up and it's addressed to Marcus and Corey.

(01:37):
Second date update care of Star one oh one three.
That's us, h It is a save the date for
Rose and James's wedding in Newton, Connecticut. When is that
sent by mister James? Heinky. It was postmarked May twenty
second for a wedding May thirty first. That we were

(02:00):
received today, So we already missed it. We already missed it.
So I did not get an opportunity to at RSVP.
I'm sorry, mister Hank. If you're listening on the iHeartRadio app,
I don't understand.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
I don't either.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Is this a goof.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
What I don't understand is it's entitled second date update
and you're you're addressing a wedding because usually second date
update doesn't go that well.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Well, are these two people that connected on second Date
Update that then got married in Connecticut? That has to
be it, and we got.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Getting married in Connecticut has nothing to do with the location.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
I look them up on the not They're a lovely couple.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
They live in Connecticut.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
I don't understand. But cool. You know what if they
got hooked up on second Date Update and they're not
getting married, then our work here is done.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Okay, success, I'll take it, put it in.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
The wind, calling glad. I worked that out in real time.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Yeah you really, even I can't get your attention. You've
been looking at that for the last twenty minutes.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
So uh.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
In addition to stuff in your bathroom you need to
throw out now, which we will be covering at six
thirty coming up in a couple of minutes. I love
this thought shifts that will change your perspective. I like
this too, How to roll through life with a little
bit more positivity. Just change your perspective just a little tweaked,
just a little bit. That's coming up at six fifteen,
plus more chances to get to the Disneyland resort and

(03:16):
to cover that in a few minutes as well. We
have your free tickets hangout more variety from the two thousands,
the nineties, and today it's Star one, O one three,
it's Marcus and Corey. It's six fifteen. If you are
stressed out, huh, maybe you need a perspective change.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
I love this because I remember one day I was
I was talking to my therapist and I was talking
about everything was going on, and she goes.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
You know what, Corey, stop telling your story.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yeah right here, Number six ways to change your perspective.
That'll shift the way you think about things. Stop romanticizing
the struggle.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Yeah yeah, it's if you constantly focus on what's wrong
and not looking forward and trying to change that.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
You're just gonna be stuck.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
I'm gonna put in there people that go online and
tell you about their grind, about how hard they're working.
He will never see me do that. No. I had
a boss one time. He goes, don't tell me, show me.
It's very true, and that means show me the results
don't show me the process. I don't care.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Or if you need help with something, say it says,
here's what I'm trying to fix.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Do you have any advice?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Here's another perspective change that I love. Instead of saying
I'm not ready, say no one ever really is just
go for it.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Just do it.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
I've been talking about this podcast that I've been trying
to launch for the last year, and yesterday I was
thinking about it as we're about to launch episode number one.
Just it's never going to be perfect, It's never gonna
be one hundred percent shiny. No, just do it. Just
do it, throw it out there, get or done.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
It's everything you know, the stuff we're doing, now just
do it.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Uh. Psychologists have this concept that I adore called the
internal locus of control and the external locus of control.
Put very simply, the internal locus of control means you
are responsible for you, and you realize that you are
responsible for you. You are not to be influenced by outside forces.
Somebody with a strong internal locus of control, if something

(05:18):
goes wrong, they say to themselves, what could I have
done Differently? Someone with a strong external locus of control
allows people and things an environment to influence how they
feel about how something went down. Something goes wrong, you say,
well it went wrong because so and so did this
to me.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I see online all the time people doing videos about
I'm not gonna let this person hold me down, and
I'm not gonna let this person say this, And I'm like,
who are you saying this for?

Speaker 1 (05:44):
And two right, it's about you. It's all in here, right.
So they recommend develop a strong internal locus of control.
What could I have done differently to purport a different outcome?
So perspective shifts. That's what we're talking about. Something else.
Stop defining yourself by past mistakes. This goes along the
lines of what your therapist said about stop telling your

(06:06):
story totally.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I mean, the thing is, what are you gonna do?
It's in the past. You can't change it, you can't
fix it. Move forward.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
And I say, you know, I say all of this
with a grain of salt, as I am, you know,
an anxiety baby who worries about everything.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Right, But I like this list because it's gonna help me.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
This one I never thought about, but I like it.
Stop thinking. You need to quote find a purpose. I
think if you do what you love and do what
you're passionate about. The purpose will unfold itself.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
I think, I think you know, goals are fine, But
this is why I don't.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Make New Year's resolutions. Okay, Oh, I'm gonna do this
for twenty five days and then I'm gonna quit. Just
try to do it year round.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
In that vein, let go of the idea that consistency
means doing it perfectly. No consistent see means showing up
for it every single day. Whatever it is is.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah, taking responsibility.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I'm gonna close with these two. Stop calling it procrastination,
start calling it what it really is, fear, and then
consider this fear a sign that you're close to something big.
Just go for it again, goes in the vein of
just go for it.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Sometimes I think procrastination. I think lazy, or you just
don't want to do it, or maybe you are scared
to do it.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
You're scared, You're you're paralyzed a little bit. It's a
lot more comfortable just on the couch, you know what
I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
I love the couch.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
God bust the couch. Anyway, some perspective shifts to roll
into the weekend with there you go if you've got
one you want to add and know we have a
lot of very wise, very smart people listening to this show,
which I love. Hit us with a talkback. Please on
the iHeartRadio ap that little red microphone you can leave
us a message. More variety from the two thousands, the nineties,
and today it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus

(07:50):
and Corey. We've been talking a lot about traveling because
people have either already made their plans or making plans
or ready to get on the road.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
A lot of last day of schools this week.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, so congratulations to the class of twenty twenty five. Now,
if you're traveling with your pet, these are questions you
should ask yourself before you get on the road. A
Are there dog friendly accommodations?

Speaker 3 (08:07):
There are so many websites you can go to bring
fido dot com. You know your destination, you just type
that in and they'll tell you where there's dog friendly accommodation.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Corey is the resident expert now with two fur babies
used to be three rip Loki last Friday. Will my
dog enjoy the destination?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
You know, you got to think about what your dog
likes and doesn't like. So, I had one dog who
loved the water, like I remember one time he swam
all the way out in this lake and Jeff had
to go running to get him. And then Vierre, my chihuahua,
hated the sand. He looked like he had tentacles when he.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Walked in the sand.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Yeah, my dog Calli loved the beach.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
So every dog's different.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Is the climate gonna be comfortable? Is it gonna be safe?

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (08:50):
If you are going anywhere where you're like hiking and
the dog can't go hiking with you, you can't just
leave them in the car.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
If it's going to be too warm.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
How long is the trip? How will they handle the transation?
Do you ever throw your dogs on a plane?

Speaker 2 (09:02):
I don't like to.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
I don't want to put them anywhere except underneath my seat,
so only the small ones do that.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
I don't trust them being in cargo.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Sure, am I able to bring everything I need to
keep them safe and happy during the trip.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
I feel like road trips are probably the easiest with dogs.
And my husband's the best at packing up the car.
So he puts the luggage down, then he puts down
blankets and dog beds and creates like this spaw like
oasis in the backseat. I want to crawl back there.
It looks so comfortable.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Jeff's very accommodating. It's very good, doggy Dad. Now, before
traveling with your pet, you should ask yourselves what are
the rules, requirements and restrictions with regards to pets.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
It's interesting when you Airbnb or Verbo because they always say,
you know, we have this limit of dogs, this limit
on size of dogs. And I want to say, you know,
I had a one hundred pound German Shepherd and he
was professionally trained, and they were.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Okay with that.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
But if I said I had two little's in addition
to the there's like two's fine, three's always too.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Much, we'd always lie.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
That's terrible.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
I don't know if they want to damage. They never
didn't damage.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Was my question. Isn't it just like bad pet parents
not bad pets? Necessarily?

Speaker 3 (10:14):
I feel the same way about kids as I do
as dog. There's no bad kids, it's bad parents, and
there's no bad dogs.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
It's bad owners, all right.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
And then finally, will there be veterinary access just in
case something goes down or other doggy kitty services.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
That's the beauty about the internet. Yes, you just hop
on and say where's the nearest er?

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Yeah? Sure, want to ask before traveling with your pet.
There you go. We left anything out. You can leave
us a quick talkback. It's that little red microphone on
the iHeartRadio app. Shoot us a message. Let us know
Star one on one three, This.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Is what I'm talking about.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
What's trending on Star on, what's happening in entertainment news,
the biggest stories of the day and everything people are
talking about today in the Babe. So if you're a
white Lotus fan and you finish the three, it doesn't
even matter if you finished it or not.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
This isn't a spoiler alert, but.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Walton Goggins and Amy lou Wood, who played the couple
on there.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
She's a lady with the teeth, spiritual lady with.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
The teeth, and they are ending rumors that there's a
feud between them. They were interviewed by Variety magazine and
they're like, no, there's nothing going on. Just because he
unfollowed her on Instagram and he's like, I don't care
about Instagram.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
He adores her and was a very just why did
you want to follow her? Then I don't know.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Maybe he doesn't want to be on Instagram anymore. AnyWho.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Kevin Smith, who we know from a bunch of different movies,
but one of my favorites, Dogma.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
He's talking about a sequel now.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
The original came out in nineteen ninety nine with Matt Damon,
Ben Affleck, Alan Rickman, Chris Rock, George Carlin, Alanis Morrisset.
So he's thinking about writing a sequel and I am
all for it.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
He was just in town at the Kabooki for a
Q and A.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Well, they screen it and they do the Q and
A and I looked at going, but the tickets weren't.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
For the faint of hearts.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Time for Father's Day, Natural Light has rolled out the Toolbar,
a clever foldable work bench that flips.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Into a full blown man cave.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
So the man leading the charge is Al from Home
Improvement Richard Karn. It's a retro style infomershall and it's
a DIY. Basically, you can do this, build it yourself.
It's got a dartboard and beer can holders, so basically
it's saying that dads can hammer by day and hang
out by night.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Call your husband, we're doing this. Hey, if you were
an All American Rejects fan back in the early two thousands.
They have a dirty little secret that has just on
the board.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
See you were there.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
So apparently the lead singer, so they're going on tour.
They've started doing they're doing house parties because you know,
they've been around for a thousand years, but like it's
been a minute since they did big shows. Yeah, so
they were doing barns and frat parties and things like that.
They have an album coming out, and now the lead singer,
who's a good looking man, has launched and Only Fans.
And he did an interview with GQ and they said,

(12:58):
what can people expect? He said they he said, end
I quote, they can expect full frontal rock and roll
with all access.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
I don't know I feel about that.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
And then they said what does that mean exactly? And
he said, I'll leave that to the vagueness of that
statement to define itself. I will tell you I did
some investigation. You can join their only Fans for free, okay,
and it's him and leather pants, no shirt, kind of
zipper down ish.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
What's the point of joining for free? Why do you
go on only Fans?

Speaker 1 (13:21):
No, I'm saying that you, as a fan can join you.
Otherwise you typically you have to pay a monthly fee,
so I understand I wouldn't know, but you can join
all American rejects only fans for this is a ridiculous story.
Nice job staying in the news cycle, though. Go to
sports really quick if you want to learn more about

(13:43):
cricket and enjoy some family fun. I got to give
a shout out to my friends at the San Francisco Unicorns.
They are a professional cricket team bringing cricket back to
the States. It is the second most popular sport in
the count in the world. Excuse me, they're having family Day.
This is going down this Sunday, eleven to two at
Kathleen McDonald High School, which is down there in the

(14:05):
South Bay. I believe it's in Fremont, so you can
bring the whole family. There's a cricket clinic for the kids,
a player meet and greet, all kinds of food, all
kinds of fun for everybody. Again, Kathleen McDonald High School
in Fremont, eleven to two on Sunday, June eighth. We
will see you there. Giants beat San Diego last night
six to five, the final. Today's game has a twelve
forty five start start at Oracle Park almost Hegantes, and

(14:26):
then the Valkyrie's on around the road in Phoenix with
a tip off at seven o'clock that night.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Guess what's l cats, what's trending every weekday morning on
the fifties.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
That's six fifty seven, fifty eight fifty am in connection
now with Marcus and Corey everywhere at Star one O
one three FM, and I'm marcuson Corey. More variety from
the two thousands, the nineties, and today Star one on
one three It's Marcus and Corey time once again to
hit you a second date update Live.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
Yes, it's is exciting and new and we want to
help you come aboard on that relationship.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Here come the eighties.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Hey listen, I've got to explain this every single day.
Give me a break.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Up a little bit.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Yeah, you had first date. We want to get you
the second date.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Say good morning to Reagan. Hello, Hi, Hi. She probably
doesn't even know what you were referencing just now.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Probably not.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Don't gonna be familiar with the love boat kind of you.
That's fine, Grandma. Let's talk about Tim. So I want
to know what went down? What can you tell us?

Speaker 5 (15:35):
Really, I'm just calling you guys because I'm really curious myself.
I can't really figure out exactly if if something went
wrong or not. But I just have a bit of
a I'm a bruise ego right now, like this doesn't
happen to me.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Oh no, I like the confidence.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
This is somebody else's issue, not mine. Tell us about
your date.

Speaker 5 (15:56):
I met him on the app just like everybody does,
sure a lot, and he asked me out almost immediately. Okay,
So we did go on a date together, and the
date was really fun, like we had dinner in downtown Martinez.
Uh huh, and we even pissed at the end. Yeah,

(16:17):
I mean I still have butterflies because it was just
a lot of fun. And then he was even talking
about the next time that we would see each other.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
That's good.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Yeah, That's why I'm confused, because we continued talking a lot,
like the next couple of days, okay, and then he
just stopped, like it just went dead from there. I
didn't get a response from him anymore. Yeah, it was
mid conversation too, so I don't know what happened. And like,
I see so much potential in him.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Oh here's what I'm thinking.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Please.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
Tim's hanging out at like an outdoor concert, you know,
and he meets these guys and it turns out they
all ride motorcycles, so he goes for a motorcycle ride
with them. They invite him over to their place, you know.
They're eating Chinese suit and then they're like, would you
like some wine? And he's like, okay, So you drinks
some of the wine and it's not wine and it
turns into a half vampire.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
But I don't think so she doesn't think.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
So she is humoring you. You don't know that.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
One?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
No is that with point break, Point break?

Speaker 2 (17:18):
There's no vampires in point break?

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Am I close?

Speaker 4 (17:22):
No?

Speaker 1 (17:24):
All right, listen and let's get to the task at hand.
I'm gonna call Tim on your behalf. We are now
your squad. Try to figure this out. I don't need
you to have your ego bruise. That's not appropriate. Well
variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's
Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey. We're
doing second date, up date. We're talking to Reagan about
her date with Tim. Yes, and we're just trying to

(17:45):
figure out why he ghosted, because as this unfolds, the
day went well, they're in downtown Martinez, they're connecting, and
out of nowhere, in the middle of a text conversation,
he has ghosted.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
I think even kissed to the end of the day.
So right to me, that's a positive.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
So she's confused. We're confused, Riggan, you ready to do this?

Speaker 5 (18:05):
I'm ready?

Speaker 1 (18:06):
All right, go ahead and meet your phone. We're gonna
call Tim right now. Hello, Hi, may speak with Tim.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Please.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
This is Ti.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Hi Tim, It's Marcus and Corey from Star one on
one three.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Good morning, Good morning, Hi. Are you I'm doing fine?
How are you doing good? Thank you? Do you listen
to our show?

Speaker 6 (18:36):
I do?

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Yeah, excellent, wonderful.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
Are you familiar with second Date Update?

Speaker 5 (18:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Okay, it's our dating segment where we check in with
somebody who had a first date. Yes, we've tried to
figure out why you're not going on a second date
and we wanted to talk to you.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Are you cool talking with us?

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Yeah, sir, So we got a call from a date
you went on recently. Her name is Reagan. Would love
to get your thoughts on the date because she's saying
you ghosted right in the middle of a text conversation
after the date actually happened. So apparently there was a
makeout session, great dinner. What's the problem. What happened? Did
you ghost?

Speaker 4 (19:16):
I mean, I guess technically I did.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Ghost, right, but ah.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
You know, the date was fine, we kissed even and yeah,
we were going to make plans for something later. But
then okay, so my friends and my family they were
telling me, hey, I got a friend request or this

(19:44):
person started following me named Reagan, And it was like
my uncle and one of my nephews and my mom,
and there's so many screenshots of Reagan requesting them or
following them, and I was.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Like, what is this you mean on like social media like.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Instagram, like the IG and yeah, so I didn't know
what that was about, and like, why would you start
following people in my family or dming them, like, hey,
I'm Reagan.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Did you even tell your family about her?

Speaker 1 (20:23):
I told them I told them nothing about her. I
didn't say anything.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
So they were asking you, who's this person? Why they
want to who's this girl?

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Who's Reagan? Who your girlfriend? Reached out to me? And
I'm like, I don't have a girlfriend.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
I went out with this girl one time, and I
was like, maybe going to see her again.

Speaker 6 (20:43):
I was trying to figure out if I wanted to,
and then then I get a text.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Okay, so if you know second date to update, you
know she's on the.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Phone, Reagan. Yeah, I'm here, So here we are. This
kind of makes sense.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Not lie a lot at the beginning.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
That's crazy, Okay. I was being friendly. I enjoyed my
time with you, and I'm sure your family members are
great people too. Okay. I wanted to start introducing myself
to people because I know I'm going to be in
your life for a while. What is the issue? What
exactly you? I didn't say anything rude to them.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
You you've followed one of my cousins I haven't spoken
to in like three years, and.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
I don't even know.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
I don know. I don't know how you found them
or that's that's too much for the beginning.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
It doesn't feel aggressive to you at all.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
No, Okay, with social media you can find people so easily.
It literally took me like ten minutes to request everybody
and to just like send sweet messages.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
I'm real nice.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
How is this a problem?

Speaker 2 (21:51):
It's not really sad.

Speaker 5 (21:53):
This is really like, if you didn't like me, you
could have just told me you don't have to make
up this is it's not a problem.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Noo, Regan, need we need to pump the braid. Hang on,
time out, time out? Everybody? Hang on? Yeah, hang on? Whoa?
What that would freak me out? Hey? God, Hey yo, Tim? Hello, Hi, Hi,
So she's on hold. We'll let her down easy. Sorry,
you understand now. Yeah. I think there's gonna be a

(22:21):
lot of blocking this afternoon. Hang on the line one sec. Okay, okay,
aggressive aggressive social media ing.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
That would be weird for me, and I think more
and more as we go on with the access to
social media, people think it's okay cyber.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Stock sure anyway. Second date update seven oh five weekday mornings,
you replace it nine oh five? Got the podcast of
course on the iHeart radio app. You can binge listen,
you can subscribe. It gets one hundred thousand downloads a week. Wow,
Marcus and Corey. Second data update. I just checked the
stats last night. Not a flex but kinda is most

(23:00):
popular podcast in the building?

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Hi?

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Anyway? What variety from the two thousands, the nineties and
today Star one on one three it's Marcus and Corey.
It's seven nineteen. Here's something interesting. Some science, according to researchers,
wants a cheater, always a cheater. And they're not even
just talking about in a relationship. They're talking about cheating
in life, like cheating on your taxes, on whatever, on

(23:25):
a test on your taxes. So they did this big
study of over two thousand people and they had them
play a series of games that measured dishonesty. And according
to the results, cheating isn't just the result of a mistake.
It's part of someone's personality that never goes away.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Really, because I will admit to you, and I've said
this before and I don't recommend it, but there was
a test I needed to pass in college and I
knew I wasn't going to and so I offered a
friend if she let me look at her paper, take
her to Olive Garden.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
There's two of us actually who are going to take
it all.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
So you cheat on a test in college.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Because I needed this course. It's algebra. I'm not good
at math.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
When you did that, how did you feel? Do you remember?
I feel icky?

Speaker 2 (24:15):
I felt it a little icky. And then we got
the breadsticks of all the garden.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
But the thing is, I don't use algebra in my
everyday life. I hated that I had to have this
class just to graduate, and I just wanted to get
through it because I had already dropped astronomy because I
thought I was taught by an actual astronaut. I had
no idea what he was saying, so I needed this credit.

(24:39):
And I was like, I got to just get this done.
But I've not cheated. I'm trying to think of I've
cheated since then in any kind of regard like that.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Well, I'm not saying that there aren't anomalies. There aren't
people out there that do it one time and go okay,
I'm done. But the majority of people, the more you
do it, the easier it gets. Okay, that makes sense,
The more of your moral compass kind of gets filed off, right,
And it's so one point you start believing in your
own narrative, you don't even believe that you cheated. You
turn into a sociopath who just believes that just going

(25:06):
through life.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
I'm too guilty to be a sociopath. I'm too much
of an m path. But don't I don't feel like
anybody got hurt in that scenario. I mean, do you
do you? I mean, I don't recommend this. I don't think.
Don't be like this.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
You're not cheating.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
You're not supposed to do that. I just wish I
was smart enough to pass that test.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
On my own.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
I mean, for you, it was a one off.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
It was a one off.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
But what this research shows is most people will continue
to do it and continue to do it and continue
it if they have that vein. Getting back to the study,
When the participants played the games, they were told that
the authors couldn't see if their response was truthful or not. Okay,
so they figured if they could get away with lying
about their answers and nobody would know, many of them

(25:51):
did over and over again. This is a three year study. Wow,
if someone cheated in the first game, they were more
likely to cheat in the second and third games.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Think that kind of sucks the fun out of it,
you know, like we're doing, what you know about that
our trivia game, and we're like, no helping, no cheating,
and you and I kind of know we can kind
of sense when oh, you got your friend.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Google something mumbling in the back.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
Yeah, I mean that kind of sucks the fun out
of it.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
I'm going to bring back your faith in humanity. The
reverse also true. Those people who are honest in game
one were much more likely to be honest in the
other games. And that's a good upbringing, that's a good
moral compass, you know what I mean. Yeah, if you
if you cheat one time on something and then you
feel like crap then and you don't do it again,
or you or you use it as a turning point

(26:38):
in your life to be a better person than great.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
The thing is like, I wouldn't enjoy myself if like,
let's say we're in a bar setting and they're doing trivia.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
It's not fun for me.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
If I'm not actually getting the answers myself, right, I
can't enjoy it.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
So two big predictors in this study of chronic dishonesty,
and what we're talking about is the age old adage
of once a cheater, always a cheater. If you scored
low in something called honesty humility and high in something
they called the dark factor, which it sounds like we're
in the marvel combination of narcissism, machiavelianism look it up,

(27:16):
and psych psychopathy tendencies so how much of a of
a psychopath slash sociopath? How many of those tendencies do
you have?

Speaker 2 (27:26):
That's scary. I hope I don't know anybody like that.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
It is frightening.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
It's quite the combination.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
I mean, with regards to relationships, cheating is exhausting.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
I'm too lazy. I mean, you gotta have a burner phone,
and you gotta lie all the time. And I don't
remember my lies. And that's not the reason why you
shouln't cheat, shouldn't seat because you shouldn't.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Cheat, correct, you should respect your partner. I mean, I'll
take it all the way back, and I'm going to
be vulnerable for a second, and you might like me less,
But it feels like two and a half decades ago
I cheated on a partner. Yeah, obviously not my current one.
I'm being one hundred percent honest with you, and if
you like me less, then that's I'm just sharing a story.
What I have discovered is a I felt like a
terrible person. I was in therapy for it. I decided

(28:09):
I wanted to be a better person and be on
a more honest path with regards to relationships just in general.
And if you're out there and you've cheated before, you
have those tendencies. You just don't put yourself in those
situations exactly. That's key.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
You have said to my husband before. I'm like, listen,
if you feel the need to do something, can you
just leave me first instead of doing it and then apologizing?

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Right? And I have again too much respect for my
wife A and B. She's way too smart ladies. I'm
too stupid, like ladies always know they do.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
It's funny of all the people I know who've been
cheated on, they always had they had.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
A feeling anyway, food for thought. Once I go pathy, psychoppathy, psychicopathic.
IM not going to try it out one again. It's
time for good news with Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Sometimes all you need is the one a good thought
to make it a great day.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
So let's do this. It's good news on Star one three.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
Give it a good news twice in morning seven forty.
Just trying to make you smile real quick.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
Yes, Cory, don't forget what the talkback you gotta leave
your phone number.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Oh so we're giving away tickets for the Disneyland resort
right now, four packs via the talkback for tickets. If
you're streaming Star one on one three on the app
right now, you know you can hit that little red microphone,
leave us a message, leave us your name, leave us
your phone number. Make sure your phone isn't on to
do not disturb, because we're gonna call the winner. Correct
here before seven to fifty a few minutes away. So

(29:40):
in honor of Corey's German shepherd Loki, who had to
cross the Rainbow Bridge last Friday, we're remembering the homie
by giving you good news that involves dogs all a week.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
This is a story of a kayaker in Mexico who
saved a dog trapped after a tumble over a sixty
foot waterfall. Got guy by the name of Paul. He's
a professional kayaker. He was in Vera, Cruz and he
spotted a black dog stranded on a rock ledge between
two major waterfalls. This was him and his team. Apparently

(30:14):
the dog had fallen over the waterfall and was trapped,
and there was a ninety foot drop, so he and
his kayakers shifted their mission and planned a descent to
rescue the dog. So he himself repelled down to the
dog sixty feet, spent an hour gaining her trust WHOA.

(30:35):
After she calmed down, he put her into his kayak
paddled her to safety, wrapping a safety cord around her
to keep her secure. The group then climbed a steep,
wet cliff to exit the gorge, passing the dog hand
to hand wow in order to get her out safely. Now,
the nearest landowner had never seen the dog before, so

(30:57):
the kayakers took her to a nearby hostel that was
popular with kayakers and they named her Tomata, which is
the name of the waterfall that she saw. She has
quickly made herself at home and she's okay. Yes, And
he went home to Colorado Springs. He said he inspires
other kayakers to brave the Tomata one waterfall, saying, come on,

(31:19):
don't worry. A dog ran it d.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
She can do it.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
So I just thought that was really cool. That's sweet
and a reminder if you do have a dog ring
them out Saturday, meet Corey. I understand your Corkis may
make a guest appearance courtesy of your husband. Yeah, it's
the grand opening of the Pet Food Express at the Presidio,
so you guys are going to be hanging out at
the Little Marina Green Saturday from You'll be there from

(31:45):
ten to one. Correct, The event goes from ten to two.
Doggy activities, family activities, food trucks, music come through. Thank
you to pet Food Express for sponsoring our weekly series
Furry Friedas where we try to get sheltered dogs and
kiddies adopted. But that's happening again this Saturday. Corey will

(32:05):
be out there again ten to one for Corey tended
too for the event at the Little Marina Green in
San Francisco. We will see you there a variety from
the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's Star one
on one three. It's Marcus and Corey time to play
the bass favorite trivia game. This is called what You
Know About That. We've got four.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
General admission tickets to check out the Toyota Save Mark
three fifty at Snowma Raceway on July thirteenth. Wine Country
becomes the ultimate racing destination once again as NASCAR makes
their only trip to California for the Toyota Save Mark
three fifty.

Speaker 4 (32:57):

Speaker 1 (32:58):

Speaker 5 (32:59):
All the dropping the kids off at school?

Speaker 3 (33:02):
His names?

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Often? The game is super simple. It's five trivia questions,
fifty seconds to answer them all. Each person's going to
be asked separately with their opponent on hold. Whoever gets
the most right answers wins. If you don't know an answer,
yell out, pass and we'll come back to the question
if we have time left. Okay, okay, all right, everybody
play along at home or in the car. Here we go.
