Back to West Michigan's morning News.Steve Kelly, Brett, Bikita Breath,
the sports guy. You can domost of the talking here, but Rory
O'Neil, NBC News Radio National correspondent. If you want to watch the NFL
on Christmas Day, you'll need Netflix. Oh ho ho, Yeah, that's
the deal. Netflix in the NFLannouncing a three year deal that lets Netflix

(00:21):
exclusively stream the Christmas Day games asat least two games this year. They've
got one game in the works intwenty twenty five and twenty twenty six.
But this isn't like the Jaguars orthe Ravens. The first game anyway,
is a real game, Kansas Citytaking on Pittsburgh, followed by Baltimore,
Houston, Well and Rory. Justlike all the other streaming services, it's

(00:44):
a chance when you tie in witha sports team or a league like the
NFL, to get obviously more eyeballsto your product. But for Netflix,
when you look at the fact thatthey have the quarterback series they started up
and stuff, they're pushing more towardssports, it makes sense right well,
and they're pushing more towards all kindsof live entertainment over at Netflix. They
recently had that John Mulaney Live latenight talk show. They've got the upcoming

(01:07):
fight with Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. They've got the WWE flagship show Raw
that's being added into the mixed longspeculation that Netflix wants to buy the rights
to show Formula one racing. Soyeah, this is it looks like Netflix
is changing. Are we ready forit? Though? Rory? I guess
that's a broader question. I rememberwhen the Big ten went to Peacocky,

(01:29):
Yeah, like half of Michigan hadproblems trying to get the thing to our
smartphones maybe weren't ready well right, and our bank accounts ready? Like really
another fifteen bucks? You're like,oh, come on, yeah, I
mean that's the other part of thisis that how many fans want to make
the jump. I understand Netflix isprobably the most popular streaming service out there,
but it's one of those things wherelots of fans are like, oh,

(01:52):
I need Amazon Prime, Now youwant Peacock, now you want Netflix.
You know I'm tapped out here.Plus don't forget YouTube TV, and
the ticket would be best overall.Rory. Finally, do you know yet
or is it too early with someof the success of other platforms with the
sports products because they put a lotof money into it, like Amazon for
Thursday Night Football. Yeah, wehaven't seen dollar amounts, but look,

(02:14):
these are big games. Last year'sChristmas games averaged twenty eight point six million
viewers. Wow. I mean youknow, no scripted TV show gets anywhere
near that, so it's a majordraw. And the other disrupting factory here
is this year Christmas is on aWednesday, so that's going to mess up
the player schedules as well as theytry to work these games in. It

(02:38):
reminds me I'm going to go onlineand check that week off before everybody else.
Thanks for that, man, RoryO'Neil, ANB Seniors Radio National correspondent.
Will we hear you that week?By the way, who knows I'm
trying to I was trying to findway My Patriots are playing in London against
the Jaguars and I was all tripticking yesterday going how can I make that
flight? There is Rory O'Neil,NBC News Radio National Correspondent. Thank you.
