You know, a lot of us don't do that, you know,
and in all aspects, you know, we don't advocate for

(01:50):
what we want. We don't talk about what we want
to do. We don't talk about what our needs are.
We don't talk about these things because, guess what, it
seems a certain kind of fucking way. You know, a
lot of times when you advocate for yourself, you gotta
ruffle feathers. You you have to speak your fucking mind.
You have to say the things on the inside of

(02:10):
your head that you don't want to fucking say. You know,
a lot of people don't want to hear a lot
of people don't want to deal with it. A lot
of people don't give a fuck about it, you know
what I'm saying, And and because of that, it makes
people uncomfortable to ask, to let people know what they
need to to really, you know, raise your fucking hand
up and be like, this is me, this is what's

(02:32):
going on, and this is what I fucking need. Whether
it's at your job, fucking medical, fucking financial, fucking you know, educational,
you know they're there. There's different aspects here that we
all need to understand. You know what I'm saying, and
and it's not rude. It won't make people uncomfortable. It

(02:54):
doesn't change the way people think about you. You just
have anxiety about fucking asking for what you fucking need
or doing what you fucking need because you want to.
You think it's gonna make you look stupid. You think
it's gonna make you look like a fool. You think
that that it's going to fucking like hurt you, But
it fucking won't. You have to speak your fucking mind,

(03:18):
You have to fucking open up your thoughts. You have
to fucking really understand that if you do not do
what's best for you. No one ever will. People will
overlook you, people will dismiss you, people won't. People don't
give a fuck about nobody else except themselves. You know

(03:38):
what I'm saying. Everyone's asking for helping hand, everyone's reaching
the fuck out. But the thing is is if you
reach out specifically for what you want, is reach out
for specifically what you need. You know what I'm saying.
There are programs, there are people, there are places, there
are things that can happen, but you gotta speak the
fuck up for yourself. You know, I had all the

(04:03):
fucking issues, all right. I fucking I've needed therapy, I've
needed medical help, I fucking needed educational help. I've needed
so many things in my fucking life. But I'm a
fucking tough guy. I don't fucking need help. I don't
need nobody to fucking do anything for me because I
can fucking do it myself. That's how I always treated it.

(04:25):
That's the way I and I fucking that's the way
I always approached it. I don't need shit from nobody
because I can do it my fucking self. And I'll
sit there and struggle the entire fucking time, not knowing
what to do, not knowing how to fucking do it,
not fucking helping myself, fucking you know, the fucking valuing

(04:46):
myself because I can't fucking do what I need to
fucking do, because I'm spinning my fucking wheels, because I
am too prideful to ask for the kind of fucking
help that I need in any fucking aspect. A lot
of guys and a lot of women will do that,
And the reason that happens is because we're too fucking prideful,

(05:07):
you know. In my older ears, now, I fucking it it,
I don't do that anymore, and I say, I don't
do that no more. It is because I'm sick and
tired of fucking falling behind. I'm sick and tired of struggling.
I'm sick and tired of shit no never going fucking right.
I'm sick and tired of just feeling this certain kind
of fucking way that the world is against me, that

(05:29):
everything is my fault, everything is my fucking problem. Everything
going on in my life is an issue with me
because I'm not doing what it needs, what I'm what
I need, what it takes to fucking fix my fucking life,
all right, I'm telling you this because these are the emotions,
these are the feelings, this is the ship that I
fucking went through, these, this is the thoughts that I had.

(05:50):
But once I started advocating for my fucking self, I'm
talking about hard fucking core like I need this. I
don't understand this. This is what I fucking need to do.
How do I fucking do it? What's the fucking program?
What's the fucking the lesson? What is what? What is
it that I need to fucking know to get to
where I want to fucking go. So I'm no longer struggling,

(06:11):
I'm no longer hurting, and I'm no longer fucking around.
I'm tired of wasting my time. I'm tired of wasting
my fucking life. I'm tired of fucking all this fucking
bullshit that I'm putting myself through. Life opens up once
you fucking start really speaking on your business of what

(06:32):
you fucking want, advocating for what is fucking needed, Right
fucking now, don't fucking beat around the fucking bush, don't
fucking tiptoe around the fucking problem. Just fucking stand in
front of it, looking in the fucking face, and make
the decision of like, I'm sick of this shit, I'm
sick of you, I'm sick of what the fuck's going on.

(06:53):
Let's fucking tackle it. Let's fucking hit it on the
fucking head. Let's fucking get it fucking done. Because the
faster it's done, the faster I fucking move a fuck on.
You see what I'm fucking saying. There's a lot of
shit in our lives that we just kind of fucking
I'll figure it the fuck out. Guess the fuck what.

(07:15):
It's better to get it done now than it is
ten years from now, five years from now, fucking a
week from later, when you could be off your plate
fucking now, because a lot of us have anxiety of
not fucking doing this shit. Like I said, you know,
uh uh, my attitude towards things when I was younger
is I'm a tough fucking dude. I don't give a fuck.

(07:36):
I'll figure it the fuck out. And you're a fucking
idiot for thinking like that, because I was a fucking
idiot for thinking like that, because I did think like that.
You know, I was only fighting myself once I got
myself out of the fucking way, once I got those
fucking oh you know, like the weird fucking emotions that
I would have in me that I didn't understand, and

(07:56):
so it made me fucking angry. And because those weird
emotionstions that I didn't have control of or understand that
are internal, these thoughts that I'm like, oh, you know,
like you know what I'm saying. I'm confused, I'm upset,
I'm mad because I don't fucking get it. Once I
was able to just let that bullshit go, opening my mouth,

(08:18):
asking for shit, doing shit really changed my fucking life,
really changed my appreciation for what the fuck I'm doing now.
Because I don't fucking mix fucking words. I don't fucking
I don't confuse things, I don't put things fucking off.
I handle it right here, right fucking now, because I
give no fucks. You see what I'm fucking saying, Speak

(08:41):
the fuck up, Talk about your fucking problems, Talk about
your fucking emotions. Even if you're just talking to your
fucking self, Well, guess the fuck what if you have
a team, if you have friends, if you have family,
people who really fucking care about you, talk about it,
get an answer, all right. If it's not the answer.
You fucking want talk to another fucking person, People who

(09:01):
really care for you. You know, they should be straight up
fucking like, Hey, this is the fucking shit, this is
fucking business, this is what you should do. This is
who she reached to. You know what I'm saying, open
your fucking mouth. But opening your fucking mouth, things can change,
things can grow, things can go better in your fucking life,

(09:23):
especially when you take care of it faster. Never put
shit off. If you're not feeling fucking good, go to
the fucking doctor. It's easy as fucking that. I feel weird?
Should I go to the doctor? Yes, you know what
I'm saying. Uh, I think I need more education. But
how do I get more education? Oh, it's a fucking
Google search. Do the Google search now or guess what.

(09:44):
They're counselors at schools. Almost any community college you go
to will have a counselor that you can really schedule
an appointment with, talk about what you want to fucking do,
and then just see what it takes to fucking get
on that path. You can financially change yourself with a
career fucking change just by fucking googling, making a phone call,

(10:07):
talking to somebody, and guess the fuck what, it's easy
that even if you just talk to your family and
friends about, like I'm thinking about doing this, what do
you think I should do? And you guys can have
a conversation of fucking making a plan just like that,
because some people have already gone to college and they
can give you their advice. You know, it's as easy

(10:28):
as that. It is really as easy as that. I
like I said, I say these things because I'm trying
to make sure that you guys understand that you can
do and say whatever you fucking want change your fucking life.
But you know, you have to fucking talk about it.
You have to speak it into existence. You have to

(10:48):
fucking stop being scared and stop carrying these internal emotions
that make you feel a certain kind of fucking way,
because guess what, those are real fucking emotions that can
stifle your fucking life. And the reason stifles your fucking
life because it scares you. It really scares you because
you don't know what it means. You don't know or

(11:08):
understand why it's fucking happening, so you just fucking fuck it.
That's that's too much for me, because I'm overstimulated by
these emotions, these feelings and what the fuck's going on
internally in your fucking body. You fight yourself this way.
Everybody fucking does it. You know, some of us don't
understand what it is, and because of that, it stops us.

(11:33):
But once you understand that, oh, everybody gets this fucking feeling.
Everyone gets these emotions. People just process it differently. But
once you understand that, like this anxiety that you fucking get,
because that's what it fucking is, of stress, of fucking
like of life's pressure of change, you know, I'm safe.

(11:58):
But once you try to step out of that thing,
all of a sudden, it's like, oh shit, I'm nervous,
I'm scared. It's that that's nothing. Once you learn to
bypass that part of your fucking emotions and feelings and
understand that, okay, that's what that is. I don't need
to worry about it calms your mind. And the faster

(12:19):
you can calm your mind, the faster you can fucking,
you know, fucking upload that information in your brain and
be like, oh, okay, that's all that is. It literally
just a step over a fucking hump, and now I
can continue my life and do fucking better. That's really
what that fucking is, all right. It's processing the information

(12:39):
that's going on in your fucking head, understanding what it is.
Because understanding what it is, understanding your emotions, your feelings
is so fucking important because it can help you get
past a lot of fucking bullshit that's going on with
your life. Understanding emotions and feelings like this is why
I feel like this, This is why this is fucking happening.
It's nothing to be scared about because it's everyday fucking

(13:01):
shit because everybody in this world has the same thoughts,
has the same emotions, has the same processes. But the
thing is is a lot of us don't know what
it means now because of that, it fucks us. So
by opening your fucking mouth, talking about these things and

(13:21):
practicing that, it really changes your life. It fucking does.
It sounds simple, it sounds fucking easy, but that's the
thing that's exactly it. It's easy. It's understanding. We all
go through it, we all fucking have it. It's just
recognizing it and understanding what the fuck it is. So

(13:43):
guess the fuck what the standing Your mother fucking dead,
You want to watch my shit YouTube. Want to see

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
