Lo scrisse già nel 1921 Benedetto XV nell’enciclica In praeclara summorum, in cui si legge: «Noi riteniamo che gl’insegnamenti lasciatici da Dante in tutte le sue opere, ma specialmente nel suo triplice carme, possano servire quale validissima guida per gli uomini del nostro tempo».
