(00:00):
All right, guys, welcome intoanother edition of the leak Anty Coaches Show,
and that can only mean one thing. It's time to talk with the
head coach of the leak Anty Trojans, Dean Fabrizio, as always, joining
us, coach, How you doing, I'm doing good, Phil, How
are you, coach? I'm doinggreat. Thanks so much as always for
joining us. Well, I appreciateyou guys having me on. And uh,

(00:22):
you know, I think that wasthe only life at the Eneth tunnel
here of the suspension I got forone game for being ejective, I was
not suspended from the Coaches Show. We're going on, no coach, no
yellow flags around here, no suspensions. It always remains wide open for you.

(00:43):
Coach. Well, this past gameI had zero flags and zero issues
with officials. So now is thisthe first game? Wait minute, did
y'all play? Yeah? Okay, okay, so I thought you were playing
a trick on me. There.Had to do a double take. So
is this the first game you've neverhad a flag throne? Oh? I've

(01:06):
many games, most ninety something percentof games I've not had a flag thone.
No, no, I mean allright, So did you mean there
were still plenty of flagstone during thegame. Okay, okay, I got
you, I got you and youpersonally, Yeah, I would hope that
that's not a repeat thing. Definitelynot all right, coach, let me

(01:29):
ask you this. You know,do you think though that you're I mean,
you're fights team. Uh and listen, that's that passion, though,
is what you know. I thinka lot of people would agree with me.
You know that passion and standing upfor your team is what makes you
a successful coach like you are.But do you think that maybe you know

(01:49):
your I guess reputation precedes you andsome of these things. Well, I
think fist is a very nice wayto put it. But I've been called
some some other things probably, Butuh, you know, we've talked about
this, I think a week orso ago, a couple of weeks.
You know. I don't know somuch as reputation as just you know,

(02:10):
I've been here a really long time, fifteen years, and we've had the
same association the whole time, alot of the same officials. Yeah,
you've got these guys. I've hadall these guys numerous times, and you
know, the officials we got,the ones that are associate that I know
they're all great. They're all greatpeople, you know, and uh,
you know that that stuff that goeson on the field. One thing I've

(02:30):
always been able to do is separatethat from off the field, and you
know, the officials of a selfjob and most of those guys are out
here doing it for the kids, and you know, and and all the
ones that I know are just greatpeople. But I think the familiar to
aarity aspect definitely has something to dowith it. I got you, I
got you, and again, Ijust you know the way the way things
are and the way things roll. But I got a feeling that you have.

(02:53):
Yeah, you're not that apologetic aboutyour passion, none of There's some
things that you do, you know, I wish you could take back,
and we did talk about that atlength, and I know you issued a
written apology, but as far asyou know the passion and standing up for
your team, there's no apology.Necessarily their coach, Well, I think
I got to find a better wayto do it sometimes, and uh,

(03:14):
I've got to be smarter and howI approached some situations. But as far
as uh, you know, standingup for my team and things such as
that, you know, I've gotto find sometimes a smarter way to do
it, but definitely that's something I'malways going to do. I got you,
I got you, all right,So let's talk about then moving on
from that. Uh, you know, let's talk about this this last game.

(03:38):
Uh, you guys are able toget back up on the horse and
win. Yeah, we played alate Gibson team. You know, we've
kind of blown them out the yearbefore and and this year they're much improved.
They came in three and Ozero rankedin the top ten of the state
and they're division in Florida. SoI think, you know, our kids
maybe a little misnomer because we don'thear much about them and all the way

(04:00):
down there in Central Florida. Plusuh, you know last year beating them
so bad. But they've got areally good football team. You know,
we came out kind of started around. We turned them all over the second
play of the game. Fact,we had four turnovers in the game that
we had to overcome. But youknow, we kind of gradually took control
of the game, went in Ithink up twenty eight, twenty eight,
fourteen and a half or thirty onefourteen and a half, and then kind

(04:23):
of took control of the game inthe second half there to pull away and
win forty five or fourteen. Absolutely, now was this Yeah, So this
was the second year of a twoyear home and home, right, Yes,
but it was home and home. Both games were here, they came
up both times. That's right, that's right. Uh, well you guys
played again next year, you thinkor what, I don't know, we'd

(04:45):
have to see. You know.We really hadn't talked about it and had
a chance. Of course I wasn'tat the game, so I hadn't had
a chance to talk with their headcoach about it. But you know,
this kind of came about. Youknow, two years ago. Lake Gibson
was coming off a phenomenal year Iplayed in the semifinals and was a expected
to have a really, really strongteam coming back. So this was kind
of a marquee game when we scheduledit. But they had some tremendous players

(05:06):
coming back into Cormanie mcclaimed with theTimes and number one radio at the country
now Colorado, and a host ofother players. You know. Unfortunately for
them, they had several kids transferout over the summer and didn't have the
year they wanted last year, butthey're kind of building back up and traditionally
they're really really good programs. So, you know, with with one of

(05:27):
the few benefits to take of COVIDwas it got us in Florida on the
same scheduling cycle. You know,we kind of were a year off and
now we start our two year cyclesat the same time they do. So
that does make it more advantageous andeasier for us to schools down here near
the border of Florida to potentially scheduleFlorida teams. Yeah, well, late
Gibson had came into this game coachat three and one, and I guess

(05:50):
you guys it came in the samesame actually they were actually they were three
and oh they're three and one now, oh okay, I got you.
So they were undefeated. They camein undefeated to the game. You know,
we you know, I knew,we talked to our kids all week.
Can't have a let down after sucha big atmosphere the week before,
and you know, we kind ofstarted off a little slow there with some

(06:10):
turnovers, but pick things up asa game going on, kind of established
control by halftime that kind of ranaway with the third third quarter. Absolutely,
So, yeah, twenty one toactually twenty one fourteen, pretty close
there at half, but as yousaid, a big third and fourth quarter
in your defense holds these guys scorelessin the third and fourth quarter, which

(06:30):
really was the difference in this footballgame. Well, it was, you
know, and again we turned theball over several times the first half and
I had to overcome that. Butyou know, really kind of kind of
settle once we settled down, reallytook control of the game there early in
the third quarter. Talking to DeanFabrizio, head coach of the Lead County
Trojans, his Trojans pick up thevictory this past Friday night, forty five

(06:53):
fourteen, And of course this comesa week after the tough loss against Cowlkwood
County and what was a crazy environmentthere, uh in Moultrie. Always good
to get back. Kind of remindsyou just how good it is to be
in your own backyard, isn't it. Oh, definitely nice to be back
home. Definitely nice to be back. You know, a great atmosphere here

(07:13):
at Leesburg every week, and itwas it was certainly nice to be back
at the Trojan field. Talk aboutthe game that uh and I this gonna
sounded like a broken record, Butgotta give credit where credits to do you
talk about who's monting? He's hadanother breakout game, didn't he? He
did, you know, and hedid a little differently this week. You
know, he had a big receivingYeah, I saw that, five receptions,
one hundred and twelve yards, twotouchdowns. You know. Devin Collier

(07:36):
added three rushing touchdowns, so hismoney had over two hundred total rushing and
receivings. So so, you know, a big another big night for him,
which would come to expect. Youknow, Jeffrey Brown was eight of
ten passing with two touchdowns, soso that's kind of the efficiency in the
passing game we've been looking for.And you know, so we felt like

(07:57):
it was definitely a good performance. It's all around defensively, you know,
our defensive line was dominant. Ithink we had eleven sacks in the game.
Leroy Jackson had four sacks, ablock kick on more recovery for a
touchdown. Jaden Corey hadded another foursacks. So our two defensive ends between
them had eight sacks. So itwas a big night up front. They

(08:18):
really they really took control of thegame, and you know, got us
status of situations where after we turnedthe ball over and kind of re established
momentum for us. I think weheld him to one native I think negative
one rushing yards for the game.So it was definitely a good night by
our entire defensive based on our defensivein front. Absolutely and again the gentleman

(08:39):
that had the block field goal andhad such a big night defensively, Leroy
Jackson. Yeah, Leroy Jackson ispart of our top performers lists. Uh
from I didn't have to listen infront of him, so that's why I
had to deal with shake his name. But he will be one of our
top performers this week here at igNick. So you guys be sure to
check that out. Well great, yeah, absolutely all right, coach so

(09:03):
big forty five fourteen victory over lateGibson. So again after a week if
not maybe playing your best football againstHawk Quick Canty and this was just what
the doctor ordered, a time toget back healthy. And I don't mean
that necessarily physically, but mentally aswell. Talk about what it means to
come back with a game like this. We can kind of come out and
take care of business. What youguys did well. You always have to

(09:26):
be careful of coming off a biggame like that, and especially when you
handled the team fairly easily the yearbefore. But I knew this was a
much better lay Gibson team coming in, so we really had to be careful
and talk to our team hard allweek, but we better be ready to
play. And you know, wecame out and you know, they kind
of hit us in the mouth rightaway and woke us up. We didn't

(09:46):
play real well in the first quarter, but then kind of, like I
said, established control of things afterthat. But yes, it was nice
to get that momentum back going forus again, have another win and get
things moving back in the right direction. Absolutely so Code Now we're going to
and can you believe but here weare at the halfway point of the season.
Unbelievable in it. Yeah, itreally flies by, certainly does.

(10:07):
And you know we've got a toughone verse Open County this week. We
think we should be able to handlethem, you know, and I think
the listeners know, you know you'vegot uh, you've got After that,
we've got the region slates starting andyou know in our region it's always extremely
tough. We've had four teams rankedin the top ten, don't somebody had

(10:30):
ranked fifth in the state, thethird in our region right now, So
that goes the depth of our regionwith Houston County I think ranked third or
fourth and at TCC one spot aheadof them, and then we're right there,
right there high and the rankings also. So we we open up our
region play with Houston County, that'llbe a big game, boom right off
the bat. And then you know, we've got the Restaurant REGI games after

(10:50):
that, which are all gonna betough. Absolutely, and again as we
kind of take a look here,as coach said, you'll be having a
bye week to enjoy this week?Is this just a chance to goin to
let everybody relax? Are you gonnatry to guys, try to get a
little bit of work in. Whatdoes this week? I guess these next
couple of weeks, what all isinto. Well, we try to take

(11:11):
the open week and work on ourselves. You know, you know a lot
of people sometimes take two weeks andwork on an opponent, but we try
to take it and just work onourselves and work on getting better, not
not prepare specifically for anybody. Andyou know, I talked to our kids
earlier today. You know this thisweek. You know, I've seen you
go one of two ways, andusually depends on the leadership on your team.

(11:31):
I've seen some week some years whereman, we get we get a
lot of great work and we geta lot better during the open week,
And then I've seen some years whereyou don't. And I think that depends
on the leadership of the team thatyou're on and how they approach it,
because you know, it's a greatopportunity to work on some things that you
kind of don't have the time towork on during the season. When you're

(11:54):
preparing for an opponent. It's timeto maybe get back to some of those
fundamentals that maybe you haven't hit ashard as you did earlier in the year.
And that's really what we look atit. You know, can we
get better at our base stuff, our base fundamentals and just get better as
to get better as a team overall, And that's that's what we want to
do this week without the pressure ofhaving to prepare for somebody. Yeah,
absolutely so, Coach, When youguys do come back off the bye week,

(12:20):
you'll begin preparations for a tough HoustonCounty team. Talk about the Bears,
well, you know they're they're rollingalong, they're undefeated, their ranked
in the top three or four inthe states. You know their quarterback obviously,
it's just one of the top ratedquarterbacks in two twenty twenty five class.
He's got I think they've got threereceivers with Division one offers, So

(12:43):
they're they're very talented football team, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
But they've got a good defense aswell. So you know that we
know that's going to be a challenge. But you know, our our kids
be excited to hit region play andwe'll be ready to go, well prepared
to go over there to Freedom Fieldnext Friday night. Absolutely wrapping up with
the Lake County hit football coach DeanFabrizio talking about the big win over Lake

(13:05):
Gibson. But this team here atthe halfway point at four and one,
and now they get ready again forHouston County. I'll tell you a lot
of people don't gonna talk about Regionone seven eight, but I'm really a
believer of that Class six A asa whole, the entire classification, and
then your Region one six A coach. I put this region up against anybody

(13:30):
with you guys, uh you knowHouston County, you got Thomas Gunny Central.
I mean, talk about the competitivenessof this region and then not to
mention North Sunder one of Robbins.Well, there's there's as always, you
know, Region once today is veryvery tough, very very competitive. I
remember just a few years back wewent to a stretch where the region champ
came from our region five years ina row. I know, looking at

(13:52):
things a couple of years ago wherewe averaged having three teams in the third
round or beyond each year, andyou know, we're just it's just really
good football. You've got a lotof good, great coaches, You've got
a lot of great players, schoolswith great tradition of football that really care
about it, great fan bases. So you know, it's it's one of
the you know, I know, the Region one seven A with lowns about

(14:13):
Austin Culkwood certainly gets a lot ofattention and rightfully so. But you know,
Reach one to six as is definitelythe sec of high school football,
especially at six A. Absolutely wellcoach, listen, thank you so much
for joining us. As always greatto get caught up with you and find
out what's happening with your program.I tell you we're about to get into

(14:35):
now the fun part. Uh.Now, you've already had, of course
a born burner with with Hawkwick County, which obviously kind of gave you a
test a little bit of what's comingup. But now it's gonna be time
to hang on and strap it up, boys, because it's about to get
really interesting. Yeah. Yeah, you know, and being in this region

(14:56):
for so long, we know thekey to this whole thing is you just
got to take it that game andone week at a time. If you
start looking ahead or you start tryingto take Okay, we got this game,
then this game you start thinking likethat, it makes it really difficult.
So you just got to focus onjust that game, just that team
you're playing. And you know, this week will give us a chance to
focus since it's an open week Fridaynight, We'll give us a chance to

(15:18):
focus on ourselves, work on somefundamentals and just trying to get better as
a football team. And then afterthat this week I'll focus will be on
Houston County. Absolutely. I gotyou one game at a time, one
game at a time, and it'sgoing to be a big one as they
are one of the strongest passing gamesor well, they have one of the
strongest passing games and passing teams withtheir big, tall quarterback. I know,

(15:41):
he's got to scare of you therewhen you see him on film,
right. Well, he's a reallygood player. You know, we played
him last year obviously, so we'revery familiar with him at facts too.
He started as a freshman, sothis has been the third year that we've
went against him. You know, very very impressive player, does a great
job obviously, that's why he's sohighly recruited. And he's got major weapons
to throw the ball too. Soand then their running game, you know,

(16:04):
their offensive line coach does a phenomenaljob there and their running game is
definitely underrated. While it's the passinggame gets a lot of the attention,
their running game certainly helps make theoffense go. And then defensively, they've
got a lot of good players andthey do a good job. The reason
they're ranked really highly, and we'vegot to go to their place. But
you know, our kids will beexcited about that, excited about the couch

(16:26):
absolutely. Coach as always, thanksso much, for joining us. We
always appreciate your insight giving us anidea of what's happening with your football program,
and we'll afford to talking to younext week. Coach, Well,
thank you for having me, No, thank you for joining us. Coach.
All right, take care my boy. Okay, there he is.
That's Dean Fabrizio. He is thehead coach of the Lee County Trojans and

(16:52):

hope you guys enjoyed it as muchas I did, and of course
we will do this every week. We'll come back next week and talk with
the head men of the Lee Countyfootball program, Dean Fabrizio, right here
at it G next. I'm yourhost, Phil Jones. I hope you
