In Episode 60, Nazanin Nour, actor, writer, judge on Persia’s Got Talent and a voiceover artist, works to use artistic expression and comedy to bring people together and shed light on vexing political and social issues. Nour shares her passion for how she uses comedy as a vehicle to share truthful and insightful messages with others (20:52). She also explains where her passion for comedy came from, and how she infuses her interest in politics into her comedic performance. Nour believes that comedy can be used to bridge divides between people no matter their background. As Nour is an advocate for various political and social causes, this past year, she was an active participant in the BLM protests (23:43), and she also explains her role as an advocate for minority groups. Growing up with immigrant parents, Nour quickly learned what it meant to be an Iranian American, and she explores in this interview her journey in finding her voice (30:00). Looking forward, Nour explains how she is staying engaged as a content creator, and why she is continually inspired to create comedy even in these challenging times (33:07).
