Axl Rose Reveals His Favorite Singer of All Time

Guns N' Roses front man Axl Rose knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a great singer for a massive rock and roll band.

Rose in just the last two years has fronted two of the most legendary bands in history, his own band and AC/DC, when he took over for Brian Johnson on the band's Rock of Bust tour in 2016.

In a new interview with United Arab Emirates' Atlas magazine, Rose called out late-Queen front man Freddie Mercury as "the greatest" to ever do it.

"For me it's easy," Rose said, when asked who his greatest contemporary is. "Queen is the greatest band and Freddie is the greatest front man of all time. The band are the greatest because they embraced so many different styles."

Rose has named Mercury as a key inspiration many times before. In 1992, Rose was among a number of artists who performed at the Freddie Mercury memorial concert alongside the surviving members of Queen.

GNR hits like "November Rain," which recently became the most-viewed '90s music video on YouTube of all-time, were heavily influenced by Mercury's genre-defying songwriting with Queen.

Like Mercury, who's band mates produced the hit Bohemian Rhapsody biopic, Rose has his own admirers among the ranks of his GNR band mates.

Slash has said he was "in awe" of Rose during the band's 2016 tour when Rose was pulling double-duty between GNR and AC/DC.

Keyboardist Dizzy Reed has called the front man the hardest working man in music

And earlier this week, Slash and Duff McKagan sang Rose's praises when he performed for two hours in Abu Dhabi despite being "severely ill."

McKagan said in a Tweet that Rose "pulled a damn miracle" for being able to sing at all, let along deliver a 17-song set.
