It's official: Lover claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, marking Taylor Swift's sixth album to reign supreme on the charts. What's even more impressive is the fact that it earned 867,000 equivalent album units in its release week, with 679,000 coming in traditional album sales (a feat not many artists can achieve in 2019). Lover generated the year's highest first-week sales in the U.S. in its first day alone and boasts the biggest sales weeks since the pop star's last album reputation sold 1.216 million copies its first week in December 2017.
Lover is Swift's sixth No. 1 album to date, following reputation (four nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1, 2017-18); 1989 (11 nonconsecutive, 2014-15); Red (seven nonconsecutive, 2012-13); Speak Now (six nonconsecutive, 2010-11); and Fearless (11 nonconsecutive, 2008-09).
Earlier this week, it was also revealed that the 29-year-old singer is the world's highest paid woman in music this year, according to Forbes' annual list. Swift reportedly raked in $185 million before taxes between June 2018 and June 2019, which is over $100 million than the second name on the list. The impressive sum is in large part due to her Reputation Tour that brought in $266 million.
Speaking of touring, the "You Need To Calm Down" singer is still unsure of what she wants Lover to look like live.
“I’m waiting to figure out what I’m going to do with touring," she recently admitted to Ryan Seacrest. "I don’t want to feel like I have to do the same thing every single time. I definitely want to play this album live for a lot of people. I definitely want to give fans an opportunity and give me the opportunity to vibe with them on these songs in a live setting and see them sing the words back, but I don’t really know exactly what way that’s going to happen.”
