On December 20, My Chemical Romance made their triumphant return when they played their highly anticipated reunion show in Los Angeles, and though the news was announced a mere two months ago, it sounds like the emo legends have been toying with the idea of getting back together for quite some time.
The night before the memorable show, MCR took to Twitter to divulge that the reunion stemmed from some "jam sessions" the former bandmates planned two years ago. "In 2017, we got in a room together to see what would happen," the band wrote. "A couple more jam sessions and 39 days of rehearsals later, we’re ready to show you what we’ve learned. See you soon."
Clearly, those initial jam sessions went well, and fans couldn't be more thrilled. Check out the post below.
Over the weekend, guitarist Frank Iero celebrated the successful comeback set with a heartfelt message to the opening bands, his bandmates, and fans for helping create a night that was "pure magick."
"I have never been more proud of my brothers, and proud of this amazing thing we created," he wrote on Instagram. "It was an honor to share a stage once again."
Next year, MCR will play shows in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand; however, fans are convinced a proper reunion tour announcement is coming.
