Matthew Perry Sparks 'Friends' Reunion Theories With Cryptic Tweet

There's been talk of a potential Friends reunion for some time now, however, nothing has been confirmed just yet. The Hollywood Reporter revealed an unscripted reunion special with the original cast was in the works at HBO Max back in November. Though fans have been clamoring for a revival of the beloved sitcom, the special would likely be a documentary-style retrospective look at the show's 10 season run.

Since The Hollywood Reporter's story all those months ago, there's been little else revealed about the "talks" happening between Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and HBO Max. Robert Greenblatt, chairman of WarnerMedia Entertainment and direct-to-consumer services, told THR in late December: "We're starting it as a special. It's possible there could be something ongoing, but it would be in steps. We're far from that." First they need to see if they can work out deals that satisfy the entire cast.

Now, though, it seems like a deal may have been reached behind-the-scenes. Perry took to Twitter on Tuesday (February 4) and shared cryptic post that left Friends fans in a tizzy. "Big news coming..." he wrote.

A quick scroll through the replies shows Perry's followers only have one thing on their mind. "Reunion??? Its 2020 and everyone including Emma has woken up from their nap!!!" one fan replied. "Please say it’s a Friends Reunion!?!?" another quickly added.

We'll just have to wait and see if this Friends reunion is really happening. Sadly, though, Friends currently isn't streaming anywhere for the time being so we can't even binge the series in anticipation. Courteney Cox's Instagram will just have to do in the mean time.
