Smashing Pumpkins Announce 'Rock Invasion 2' Spring Tour 2020

Before heading out on tour to open for Guns N' Roses this summer, Smashing Pumpkins have announced a nine-date mini tour on Monday (March 2).

Dubbed the Rock Invasion 2 Tour, the tour is the much-awaited sequel to the band's 1993 Rock Invasion tour. “Prepare for an all-out sonic assault,” the band wrote on the Instagram announcement.

The tour will start on April 23 in Louisville, Kentucky and will run through early May ending in Greensboro, North Carolina. Within the new tour dates, Smashing Pumpkins will hit up a couple music festivals including Beale Street and a headlining set at Shaky Knees.

“It’s been a good while since we’ve played a straight-up, bare-knuckle rock and roll show — one that avoids little in the way of raw power,” lead singer Billy Corgan said in a statement. “So note: this tour won’t be for those faint of heart and will certainly echo the dynamic modes in which we built our live reputation.”

Smashing Pumpkins have confirmed the band plans on releasing a double album this year calling it the first "real album" since reuniting with guitarist James Iha in 2018.
