Brooks Laich Spends Time With Derek Hough After Split From Julianne

Brooks Laich is separating from Julianne Hough after three years of marriage, but that doesn't mean he's still not part of the family.

On Wednesday (June 17), the former NHL player, 36, took to Instagram Story to reveal that he was spending time with Hough's brother, Derek, in Los Angeles. More specifically, the two played ping pong together and worked out with Derek's girlfriend, Hayler Erbert, Julianne's friend, Kristy Sowin, and another friend, Cory Tran.

About three weeks ago, the duo announced their separation in a statement. It arrived after the two publicly revealed that they were spending quarantine separately as Laich was in Montana and Hough was in Los Angeles. Additionally, a number of reports of marital issues between the two had surfaced in the months leading up to the announcement. "We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate," Brooks and Julianne said in a statement to people at the time of their split. "We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward."

Afterward, Hough spoke about his aspirations about being a father in an episode of his podcast, How Men Think, alongside co-host Gavin DeGraw and guest Scott Evans. "It's important to me. I hope to be a father one day," he said while referencing racism in America. "I hope to have the world be a better place for them … one day."
