3 Shot Outside North Carolina Courthouse

One person is in critical condition after three people were shot Monday afternoon (November 16) outside the Guilford County Courthouse, however Greensboro Police Chief Brian James said there could be more victims.

Police responded to Eugene Street around noon to a scene where Chief James said "a number of shots were fired." He said the area where the shooting took place was busy at the time, and that investigators believe it was a targeted incident.

"This is insane that a shooting happened downtown in broad daylight while people are going to work," said James. "People are just trying to live."

As of Monday evening, police are still interviewing people who were near the courthouse at the time and attempting to get surveillance video of the scene. No arrests have been made at this time.

The courthouse went into a temporary lockdown around the time of the shooting, but people were eventually allowed back inside, WCNC reports.

Last week, six people were shot outside a Gastonia nightclub, including two off-duty police officers for the Gaston Police Department. The suspects, Alonzo Lewis Hamilton and Allen Slaughter were arrested and facing six felony counts each of Assault With Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, and were each being held on a $1 million bond.
