Dozens of cats and kittens will be available for adoption in New England just in time for the holiday season.
Twenty-nine kittens and eight adult cats were reportedly transported from private pet rescue organizations in South Florida to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Angell Animal Medical Center on Sunday (December 13,) WHDH reports.
“This is the second transport of cats from Florida in the last three weeks, and they’ve arrived at a time when demand for kittens remains at an all-time high,” said Mike Keiley, MSPCA-Angell director of adoption centers and programs, via WHDH.
The MSPCA has taken in rescued pets as part of eight different animal transports from Florida, Georgia and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to 248 pet adoptions across the commonwealth of Massachusetts, WHDH reports.
The new cats and kittens will be available for adoption at the MSPCA's Boston adoption center in Jamaica Plain and the Nevins Farm in Metheun after being placed in a mandatory quarantine for 48 hours after arrival.
Dozens of sugar gliders are also reportedly still available for adoption at the MSPCA following after their previous owner was overwhelmed by the growing number of pets after they began to reproduce, MSPCA confirmed to WHDH.
