Taylor Swift surprised us all when she dropped her ninth studio album, evermore, just a few months after folklore and it's safe to say we've been listening on repeat since the release.
Like folklore, evermore had two bonus songs that were only available on the physical copy of the CD and if you're like me and don't own a CD player, you've had some extreme FOMO seeing fans enjoy the tracks.
On Thursday (January 7), Swift uploaded “It's Time to Go” and “Right Where You Left Me” to her YouTube page so everyone can enjoy the songs.
“Right Where You Left Me” is a folky country track about a woman hearing bad news from her significant other and feeling frozen in place.
The 31-year-old sings, “At the restaurant when I was still the one you want / Cross-legged in the dim light, everything was just right / I, I could feel the mascara run / You told me that you met someone.”
As for “It's Time to Go,” the song seems to be about knowing when it's time to leave a friendship or a relationship and not feeling guilty about it. Swift also mentions her time at Big Machine Records in the track, which as we know ended in calamity.
She sings: “Fifteen years, fifteen million tears / Begging 'til my knees bled / I gave it my all, he gave me nothing at all / Then wondered why I left / Now he sits on his throne in his palace of bones / Praying to his greed / He's got my past frozen behind glass / But I've got me.”
The chart-topper recorded folklore and evermore during the coronavirus pandemic at Long Pond Studios and gave fans a special concert film released on Disney+ where she performed the songs with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff.
