CHVRCHES Announce New Album 'Screen Violence' & Share Tour Dates

CHVRCHES began teasing their fourth album last year, and now fans finally get a release date!

On Wednesday (June 2), the Glasgow-based band announced their fourth album, Screen Violence, will be released August 27. The album will be the band's first new release since 2018's Love Is Dead.

In addition to announcing the album, CHVRCHES shared a brand new song “How Not To Drown" featuring Robert Smith of The Cure. The band premiered the video for the 5-minute and 32-second song on Thursday (June 3).

Martin Doherty opened up on social media about the meaning behind the song and revealed how his own mental health played a role in the creation.

“I don't remember where I was, but I remember how I felt. Depressed, anxious, isolated and as usual… on this particular day I made a demo called piano drum ting,” he wrote. “Now it's called How Not To Drown and it's a collaboration between my band and my all time musical hero, Robert Smith.”

“How Not To Drown" follows the April release of "He Said She Said" — which will also be featured on the new album.

If both of those announcements weren't enough, CHVRCHES will be headed out on a North American tour starting this November. The tour will begin on November 9 in Houston and ends on December 17 in Los Angeles. It'll make stops in cities across the U.S. including Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Denver, and Vegas.
