A TikTok video is blowing up after someone caught two men on camera carefully entering a sewer through a manhole in Portland.

Mackenzie Weed posted the footage to the popular platform Monday (August 2), which shows two men sitting around an open manhole, KATU reports. The one holding a red object goes inside first before the second individual hands off a backpack and enters themself.

"Hahaha, no way," the person recording can be heard saying after the manhole closes. Passerbys can be seen watching the duo the entire time, as well. "Only in Portland, read the caption on the TikTok.

Reporters the incident happened in the Pearl District at Northwest 11th and Johnson. The video was forwarded to the Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, which oversees the sewer system.

City officials have called the actions dangerous and potentially deadly. The bureau said they're concerned for the two men because hydrogen sulfide, a toxic gas, can build up in the sewer and stormwater pipes.

"We know these two men went into the system. We don’t know if they came out," bureau officials told KATU. An investigation is underway.

Earlier this year, another person made headlines after they were rescued from being stuck in a storm drain for a few weeks.
