Former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga was arrested after plowing through mailboxes and yards in North Kentucky.
Maualuga was caught on Wednesday around 9 p.m. after crashing his Mercedes into a parked car outside of homes in the 1000 block of Riverview Farms Place in Villa Hills, Kentucky, WXIX reported.
Crash scene photos obtained by TMZ shows the Mercedes under the car Maualuga crashed into and wedged next to a tree. The impact deployed Maualuga's airbags. but he managed to walk away from the crash unscathed.
No one in the neighborhood was injured.
Immediately after the wreck the ex-football player “was telling people he was sorry, mentioned he had screwed up, and that he was he’s already had multiple DUIs and this one would potentially put him in jail for a long time,” according to a police report.
Maualuga told cops that he didn't know what happened and that he was trying to get home.
"[Maualuga] had apparently driven into the wrong subdivision where he lost consciousness, and crashed into multiple things," according to court documents.
He also said he had a few drinks but refused to take a sobriety test. He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and criminal mischief.
This isn't Mauluga's first arrest. He was previously arrested for intoxicated and reckless driving in Villa Hills in July 2020.
