Silk Sonic fans will have to wait a bit longer for the R&B duo's debut album.

Silk Sonic's Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak graced the cover of Rolling Stone, discussing everything from their friendship to their upcoming album, An Evening with Silk Sonic, which they said is being pushed back until January 2022, per Complex.

"We're really in touch-up mode now," said Mars. "We've got the bones of most of the album, so it's really about touching up parts that need a little more...grease."

So far, fans have heard two singles from the album, "Leave the Door Open" and "Skate." Though the album itself has been delayed, Mars said the duo plans to release additional tracks in the lead up to the drop because they "don't want to be binge-watched."

Speaking about the duo's collaboration, .Paak said Silk Sonic helped act as a reminder of how important music is to them, especially with the challenges they have each faced throughout their lives.

"We know it's life or death for us, and we know what life and death means — we know what it's like to be broke and to lose parents and to have parents that supported us and that battled addiction," he said. "We know what we're up against, and this is all we have."

Despite the obstacles they have faced, they hope the album offers a bit of escapism and lets fans have fun.

"We need to light up a stage, put the fear of God in anyone performing before us or after us," Mars said, "and bring so much joy to the people we're in front of and the people listening."
