A Minneapolis motorcyclist was in a hit-and-run crash when he was knocked unconscious. People gathered around the motorcyclist to make sure he was okay and one of the "worried" bystanders decided to rob him in the process.
According to WCCO, Evan Wise was riding his motorcycle around 2 a.m. on Sunday (August 15) when a car parked along the curb of Lyndale Avenue South pulled out in front of him to make a U-turn. Wise tried to hit the breaks but ran straight into the car and flew off his motorcycle, knocking him unconscious.
He was wearing a helmet that had a camera attached to it. When he collided with the vehicle, his helmet flew off but landed in the right direction, facing both Wise and the car. The camera continued recording and captured the vehicle fleeing from the scene.
"I was blacked out after I hit the car," Wise told WCCO. The car fleeing wasn't all the camera captured. In the video, you can hear a group of people rush to help Wise, but Wise says one of those people had some sticky fingers regarding the cash in his wallet. Unfortunately, it was unclear who in the video stole the money.
"I couldn't tell exactly who may have swiped the money. I mean, you know, pick-pocketers are really good at what they do," Wise mentioned.
His injuries from the accident included a small fracture in his leg and a concussion. Wise says he has tried to file a police report multiple times about the money, but it's a long process.
Police are still on the hunt for the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run accident.
