Certified Lover Boy has been a long time in the making. The rapper officially finished recording the LP in July and announced that it was in the mixing phase. Originally set to drop at the top of the year in January, the project was pushed back after Champagne Papi suffered an accident and had to have knee surgery. "I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery," he previously told fans. "I'm blessed to be back on my feet and feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB won't be dropping in January."
Leading up to the release, the chart-topper has compared the sixth studio effort to his 2016 album, Views, admitting that "it's music to evolve to."
