Home security cameras and smart doorbells often catch glimpses of pizza delivery drivers and highly-anticipated Amazon packages. But sometimes the cameras capture a more unique scene unfolding in front of a residence, and a Georgia homeowner recently saw something that most people don’t see every day.
Her Ring doorbell became a target for a curious bobcat, and the doorbell retained the footage to prove it. In the video, viewers can see the wild animal spot the camera, approach it and begin to paw at it. The entire scene unfolded in front of a lone spectator: an opossum. The opossum may have been lucky — footage shows that the bobcat appeared to take a swat at the opossum before setting its sights on the Ring doorbell.
The Kennesaw homeowner is no stranger to hearing animals in her yard since she lives near the woods. But she explained in a recent CNN story, shared by multiple news outlets, that she heard noises and realized her Ring doorbell was on the ground when she checked outside. That’s when she realized that the nighttime footage revealed how the doorbell managed to land several feet away from the house — because of a mischievous bobcat.
