After the weekend brought intense storms into the Bay Area, a Daly City neighborhood is dealing with long-term damage.

A truck was swallowed by a sinkhole near Belcrest Avenue and Westline Drive, reports KRON.

“I was moving the car for street cleaning, and a gentleman was driving up and he stopped for a second and the truck went in,” one witness Carlos Palma told KRON reporters.

According to Palma, the street looked completely normal before the person in the truck drove over it.

Palma called 9-1-1 for help.

“The police department and fire department were here very quickly," he said.

The Daly City streets division believes the storm could damaged underneath the street and caused it to collapse. The break could have been caused by the intense storm on Sunday, October 24.

Another resident in the neighborhood, Kiersten Blair, told KRON that she usually drives up the hill but doesn't feel safe knowing the potential damage the storm may have caused roads.

“Normally I’m able to park right in front of my house, I’m a few houses up. This just kinda deterred me from doing that.”

According to KRON, street crew members were working to get the hole fixed over the next few days.
