Paramore has caused quite a stir after fans noticed that they changed the cover for one of their previous albums. The unexpected change took place on their 2013 self-titled album. The original artwork showed frontwoman Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and former bassist Jeremy Davis standing against a black background with colorful paint covering their faces and bodies.
Now, the album shows up on streaming services with new artwork that features only Williams with her back turned to the camera. The back of her jean jacket reads: "GROW UP." While the change may seem random, many fans see the change as a dig at the former bassist.
According to Stereogum, Davis, who was a founding member, left the group in 2015 and was soon after involved in a legal dispute with the band. Davis sued his former bandmates saying that he had been omitted from songwriting credits and respective royalties from the self-titled album, which included their hit song "Ain't It Fun." The band settled the lawsuit in 2017, according to a report from Rolling Stone.
Paramore has yet to comment on the change in artwork. Meanwhile, the band is gearing up to release their new album This Is Why. When the album drops on February 10, 2023, it will mark the band's first new album since 2017's After Laughter.
You can catch the band live on their 2023 North American tour as well as an opening act for select dates on Taylor Swift's highly-anticipated The Eras Tour.
