Britney Spears' medication is reportedly to blame for her mental health crisis.

According to TMZ, the 37-year-old singer has almost completed her 30-day stay at a treatment facility following an adjustment of her medication. The entertainment site claims that while Brit was having a tough time dealing with her dad's recent illness, her doctors were also "adjusting her meds, which had lost their efficacy," causing her to seek treatment.

"Britney's mental health issues were [previously] stabilized with a cocktail of medicines that were designed specifically her. Over time, those meds were increasingly ineffective and doctors needed to create a new cocktail," the site reports.

Being that the process to create a new cocktail of medications is so delicate — they first had to wean Britney off her existing medication, which if done incorrectly there's a risk of suicide, create a new medication cocktail, which is trial and error — Britney reportedly thought it best she seek treatment. Additionally, TMZ reports, there were errors that made Britney "unstable and ultimately unwilling to cooperate with doctors," which is why she was admitted to the mental health facility where she's reportedly been receiving the "right mixture of drugs."

Britney entered a mental health facility earlier this month after sources connected to the pop star initially told the site that she'd "been distraught over her dad's illness." As fans know, Brit put her Vegas residency on hold in January to take care of her father, Jamie Spears, who has been reportedly suffering complications after undergoing two surgeries to correct major issues with his intestines and colon.

Despite rumors her father, who is her conservator, forced medication on her against her will and forced her into treatment (sparking the hashtag #FreeBritney) those practices are not permitted under Britney's type of conservatorship. TMZ claims Britney is the one who said she wanted to go to treatment even though her dad was reportedly in disagreement "because he thought it would leak out to the media and he felt there were better ways of solving her problems."

The pop star was spotted for the first time since entering treatment on Easter Sunday (April 21) spending time with her boyfriend, Sam Asghari. She reportedly got a day pass from her treatment facility for the holiday, but went back to the facility the same day following her Easter hang-out.
