When Mark Hoppus isn't arguing with Tom DeLonge about who would make a better Joe Exotic, he's been using his time in isolation to raise money for charity...and play video games.
Over the weekend, the blink-182 singer hosted a Twitch livestream with his son Jack, where he not only showed off his Animal Crossing skills, but also performed a few songs and yielded questions from fans (where he let us know what old song they'll never play live). Aside from having fun, Hoppus encouraged fans to donate money to Children's Hospital LA. On Wednesday (April 8), he revealed via Twitter that between fan donations and his own contributions, they were able to raise $5000 for the hospital.
"Thanks to your kind generosity on the twitch streams we've raised nearly $3000 for @ChildrensLA, which my family raised to an even $5000," he wrote. "We will continue to raise money and do the streams and get better at learning how it all works. I still don't know what an emote is."
Alex Gaskarth also recently revealed that he and Hoppus have been working on new Simple Creatures music while self-quarantining.
“We’re already working on potential quarantine music while we’re all on lockdown,” he told NME. “He’s in Idaho – he escaped while he still could – and I’m stuck home in Maryland, so we won’t be doing it in person but we’re sending ideas back and forth and we’re always talking about what the next steps are for Simple Creatures. It’s in the works.”
