Kane Brown Announces New Duet With His Wife Katelyn, 'Mad At This World'

After teasing a collaboration with his wife, Katelyn Jae, Kane Brown has officially confirmed the two have recorded a song together. During a recent interview, Brown shared that Katelyn is his "secret weapon" that he's getting ready to break out before revealing that their duet is titled "Mad At This World."

While Brown typically co-writes most of his songs, "Mad At This World" was actually from a pitch he heard, which he says "immediately caught my ears and caught my attention."

"It’s kind of like another…it’s not ‘Worldwide Beautiful,’ but it’s basically a song calling out everything else that’s happened in 2020, from the tornados destroying Nashville, California getting hit by those fires, and all of that," he explained. "It's basically saying, 'How could I be mad at this world when this world gave me you?'"

Brown first hinted at a possible duet with his wife in May. "Kane Brown featuring Katelyn Brown in the works," he wrote on Twitter at the time.

When the couple met, Katelyn was a recording artist herself. She released two singles, "Perfect" and "24KT," but decided to put her music career on hold as she's focused on raising their daughter, Kingsley, who was born in October.

At this time no official release date has been shared for the collaboration, though Brown is gearing up for the release of an EP this year with a full-length album to follow.

Earlier this month, Brown released his new song, "Be Like That" featuring rapper Swae Lee and R&B artist Khalid. He's also recently shared "Cool Again" along with the remix featuring Nelly and a track called "Worldwide Beautiful."

Brown will likely bring some of his new music to this year's iHeartRadio Music Festival where he's scheduled to perform with special guest, Khalid. Additionally, country singers Keith Urban and Thomas Rhett will perform along with many more.

Fans can tune in to watch the festival live on The CW App and CWTV.com on September 18 and 19 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, and relive all of the epic performances during a two-night Festival highlights special on September 27 and 28 from 8-10pm ET/PT. The iHeartRadio Music Festival will also be broadcast on iHeartMedia stations nationwide, as well as on the iHeartRadio app.
