Morgan Wallen Looks Back On A Summer Love In New Song '7 Summers'

Morgan Wallen has given his fans exactly what they want with the release of his new song, "7 Summers."

The track, co-written by Wallen alongside Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, finds Wallen looking back on someone he once loved whose memory still lasts.

"But I wonder when you’re drinking if you / Find yourself thinking about / That boy from East Tennessee / And I know we both knew better / But we still said forever / And that was seven summers / Of Coke and Southern Comfort / Were we dumb or just younger, who knows? / Back then, you used to love the river / And sippin’ on a sixer with me / Does it ever make you sad to know / That was seven summers ago?," he sings in the chorus, wondering if she ever feels the same way too.

"7 Summers" first gained traction among fans when the country singer shared a snippet of the tune on social media. Originally, he wasn't sure if the song would be included on his album or if he'd ever even put it out at all.

"I saw how much the song was getting played and how much people were enjoying it, even just the first verse and chorus. Social media played a huge part in me releasing this song, especially this early," Wallen said in a statement. "It’s a cool thing – me being on the fence about it, then being able to put it out and get people’s feedback. Seeing the response played the biggest part in this release. I think that speaks to just how much fans mean to me and fans mean to music. I’m glad I’m getting to put it out and glad people are loving it."

"7 Summers" follows Wallen's latest single, "More Than My Hometown," which finds the Tennessee native singing about his love for a girl and even more so, for his small-town life.

Both tracks will most likely be featured on the country singer's highly anticipated sophomore album, which follows up 2018's If I Know Me. Stay tuned for more details on the project to come!
