Billie Eilish is single-handedly making malls cool again in her new music video, released Thursday (November 12).
After teasing her single, “Therefore I Am,” the 18-year-old released the song and it's video and both are equally amazing.
In the video, which the singer directed, Eilish sneaks into an empty mall and lives out all of our dreams of running around and grabbing snacks from the food court. In the song, Eilish sings to an unknown antagonist who seems to think they're a lot closer with the superstar than they really are.
“Stop, what the hell are you talking about? / Get my pretty name outta your mouth / We are not the same with or without / Don't talk 'bout me like how you might know how I feel / Top of the world, but your world isn't real / Your world's an ideal,” Eilish sings in the track's first verse.
She even goes as far as to sing, “I'm sorry, I don't think I caught your name” to really prove her point that she has nothing to do with the person. This could allude to people in her life pretending they're close with the singer and using her now that she's famous.
Throughout the video, that looks straight out of an early 90s teen movie, Eilish ignores all the stores and heads straight for the food counters where she grabs a pretzel, donut, lemonade, Chipotle chips, and fries — a potential dig at body shamers who constantly attack what she looks like.
While we've gotten new music from Eilish, we probably won't be seeing a new album anytime soon. Her brother, FINNEAS, recently explained why her sophomore album has no release date yet.
Billie is performing during the2020 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball next month, and fans can tune in to watch the 2020 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball on Thursday, December 10th at 9pm ET/6pm PT on The CW App and CWTV.com, as well as listen across 95 iHeartMedia CHR radio stations nationwide and the iHeartRadio App. The CW will also broadcast the event as an exclusive TV special on Monday, December 14th at 8pm ET/PT.
