Several notable WWE superstars are among the latest round of releases announced by the company on Wednesday (June 2), including former Universal Champion Braun Strowman.

The company announced it "has come to terms on the releases of" Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Murphy, Ruby Riott and Santana Garrett in a news release shared on its official website.

"WWE wishes them the best in all of their future endeavors," the release stated.

Strowman won the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36 and was also a former Intercontinental Champion, multiple-time RAW Tag Team Champion and the winner of the WWE Greatest Royal Rumble.

Black, a former NXT Champion, recently made his return to WWE programming from an injury, which included his first in-ring appearance during the May 21 episode of SmackDown.

The announcement comes after multiple strings of releases among both the RAW and SmackDown rosters, as well as the NXT brand since April.

WWE had initially announced the release of Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Tucker, Kalisto, Bo Dallas and Wesley Blake on April 15.

The company also announced the releases of NXT competitors Alexander Wolfe, Jessamyn Duke, Vanessa Borne, Kavita Devi, Skyler Story and Ezra Judge, as well referees Drake Wuertz and Jake Clemons, on May 19.

The company also announced the release of veteran play-by-play commentator Tom Phillips and that it had "mutually agreed to part ways" with Phillips' replacement -- prior to his actual release -- Adnan Virk after only seven episodes last week.
