A woman's face-to-face encounter with a Florida alligator, and her relatable reaction, are getting millions of views online, according to Newsweek.

TikTok user CapeCoral.Jade posted a video to the platform Tuesday (August 10), which shows her and some friends fishing in the Florida Everglades. A man called Joey is shown standing over a storm drain, trying to entice a gator over with plastic bait.

Jade is heard in the background saying, "Watch me fall in" as she stands close to the water. She even hokes that the gator may be "plastic."

When the video zooms out, Jade doesn't immediately notice the gator staring her down.

"Oh my god, holy s***," she yells, quickly backing up. Another woman on camera, thought to be called Jessica, says, "Guys I'm not kidding I just s*** myself."

A man off-camera posits that the gator was probably there the entire time -- they just didn't realize it until now. "Yeah, do not ever sit down with your legs dangling like that," he remarked.

Jade wasn't the only one taken aback by the gator's sneaky presence. The clip clocked in over 20 million views as of Friday (August 13). "Florida Everglades never fails to amuse and terrify," the video's caption reads.

Jade, who was raised in Cape Coral, Florida, goes on to explain the situation more in the comments of the video. She said, "Jessica is Joey's (the one fishing) little sister. She was sitting on the storm drain when he popped up. I can assure you, they didn't see him either."

The TikToker added that the group reviewed the clip and realized how long he was there.

"But I swear he wasn't when we first walked up. Got us!" she wrote, adding that she and her friends are usually out on the water. "Born and raised and do this all the time. Just weren't on our toes that day."

Jade also went on to talk about how important alligators are to Florida's ecosystem in a separate, follow-up video.

"We might talk big, but we respect this place and all the things that call it home so deep in our souls," she says. "Each of us were born and raised here in Florida and have grown up with its wildlife. They have more claim to this place than we ever could and they have all our respect. We hope you enjoy coming on our adventures with us."
