Texas Spent Massive Amount During Arch Manning's Official Visit Weekend

The Texas Longhorns spent $280,000 during the weekend in which quarterback Arch Manning and eight other prospects visited the campus earlier this year, which was part of a whopping $630,000 during two combined weekends during the summer, according to public records obtained by the Athletic.

Manning, who committed to Texas on June 23, visited the Austin campus days prior in June 17 during an official visit, which followed three unofficial visits to the school during a nine-month span.

The official visit reportedly included a hotel stay at the Four Seasons Austin, a tour of DKR Texas Memorial Stadium, a trip to Tog Golf and several expensive meals, as well as breakfast at the home of head coach Steve Sarkisian, according to the records obtained by the Athletic.

Additionally, Texas spent nearly $350,000 during the weekend of June 24 in which 14 players the campus, including 12 who have already committed to the Longhorns.

Texas had previously spent $1,275,368 on recruiting during the 2019 fiscal year, which ranked 13th among FBS teams, according to NCAA financial reports published by Athletic Director U via ESPN.

The Georgia Bulldogs, who won the College Football National Championship last season, spent $3,676,858, which was the most of any program during the 2019 fiscal year.

Arch Manning, the son of Cooper Manning, nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning and grandson of Archie Manning, announced his commitment to the University of Texas on his verified Twitter account on June 23.

Manning ranks as the No. 1 overall prospect for the 2023 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, entering his senior season at Isidore Newman in New Orleans, where his father and uncles all played high school football.

Texas, a long favorite to land Manning, edged out offers from Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma and Ole Miss, where his father, grandfather and uncle, Eli, all attended college, as well as Tennessee, where his uncle, Peyton, attended, among 15 total offers.

Manning's commitment to Texas will continue his family's strong ties to the Southeastern Conference with the Longhorns set to join the SEC in 2025 during his junior season.
