On a sunny Texas day in late September, Dan Paul saw a strange bright light floating over his Bexar County home. He took out his iPhone 13 and began to record the phenomenon. Now, UFO experts are weighing in on what Paul wasn't sure he saw that day.

It all went down in the Terra Mont neighborhood along Babcock Road, where Paul, a project manager, builds homes, according to KENS5. "It just kind of went across the sky, and then it drifted a little further above that house and then it went up and disappeared," Paul told the news outlet as he pointed at the sky above the neighborhood.

Unsure about what the bright light was, he asked KENS5 to investigate. Ken Jordan of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) took a look. Without enhancing the photo at all, Jordan's initial guess was that the bright light was a "diamond-shaped craft." After enhancement — "blew them up, pixelated them, cleaned them up a bit" — it became clear that the object was a Mylar balloon.

Another expert from the San Antonio International Airport agreed with the Mylar balloon theory. The object appeared to be the same size as a turkey vulture flying nearby and was also spinning, which allowed them to see the sun's reflection. "Mylar balloons tend to end up all over the place, from people taking them to cemeteries or using them for celebrations. They often blow away and the object in the video appears to be one of them," the expert told the news outlet.

While this time it was an ordinary Mylar balloon, Jordan says to continue sending in "UFOs" to investigate just in case. "We give every case the same amount of due diligence, because you never know what's going to turn up. I would encourage everyone to keep looking up, and if you see something and you can't figure out what it is, try getting a video and send it to a research organization like MUFON," he said.
