Did You Know Ashton Kutcher's Real Name Isn't Ashton?

Lots of celebrities use stage names, but did you know Ashton Kutcher was one of them?

In a recent appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast, the Your Place Or Mine star shared the story behind deciding to use his middle name, Ashton, instead of his first name, Chris. "So, when I was growing up — so my first name's Chris and when I moved to New York, when I first came here, I got a modeling agent and she was like, 'We have like three Chris K.'s at the agency," Kutcher recalled. "There was another Chris K. and there was a couple of other Chrises and she's like, 'What's your middle name?' I told her and she's like, 'That's your name now.'"

He continued to open up about his life pre- and post-Chris. "For me, there's the before and after, and everybody who knows me before still calls me Chris. My family calls me Chris. So when I hear that name, that's like the character that is— that people think I am," he continued.

Podcast co-host Francesa Mariano asked the That '70s Show star if the name change gave him an "identity crisis," to which he said it didn't. "It's a good delineation of anybody who knew you before, like it's just a very good, clear delineation. So when I hear 'Ashton,' it's always the— when you hear somebody talking about that, I recognize it as somebody talking about the image of who I am and not somebody talking about me," Kutcher said. "So what's great is you don't take s--- so personally ... it's the image of who you are and not who you are and I think it's good to keep that separation."

Kutcher's revelation may not be news to everyone, but it's just another in the long list of celebrities who go by their middle names. One of which is Reese Witherspoon, who stars alongside Kutcher in their latest Netflix rom-com. She was born Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon.
