Green Day dropped the first song off their highly-anticipated album, Savior, on Tuesday (October 24) and announced the project's official release date. "The American Dream Is Killing Me" sends a clear message of distress amid the pressures of conforming to a fading ideal while drawing attention to serious issues that plague the nation.

The album, set to be released at the beginning of next year, mirrors themes reflected throughout the single. The band took to Instagram to share a clip from the "The American Dream Is Killing Me" music video and to detail what fans can expect to hear from Savior this winter.

"It's raw and emotional. Funny and disturbing. It’s a laugh-at-the-pain, weep-in-the-happiness kind of record. Honesty and vulnerability. What is Saviors about, you ask? Power pop, punk, rock, and indie triumph. disease, war, inequality, influencers, yoga retreats, alt-right, dating apps, masks, MENTAL HEALTH, climate change, oligarchs, social media division, free weed, fentanyl, fragility."

As if dropping a new single, music video, and announcing an album was not exciting enough, Green Day teased the next release by promising, "Lots more coming sooner than you think A.K.A Nov 2nd đŸ˜‰."

Interested individuals can pre-order the album on limited-edition vinyl through the band's website. Savior will be released on January 19th.
